A Review on Alternative to Diesel Fuel

A worldwide environment temperature increase, high energy interest and accessibility of new innovations are among the variables catalysing the look for elective wellsprings of energy. Right now, there is recharged interest in acquiring energy from non conventional procedure, waste derived. The methods of using those fuels are blending with diesel or some other fuels, use as secondary fuel and primary fuel as gaseous fuel etc. Till now many investigations have been done on the use of different fuels. Expanded expenses of removal and their chaperon issues of hefty natural stacking are a few angles making the removal alternative ugly. These squanders are wellsprings of energy and among the few wellsprings of creating this energy are the waste to energy classifications with possibilities for useable fuel creation. The WTE materials are predominantly utilized homegrown waste oils, metropolitan strong waste, horticultural whats more, mechanical squanders. Nonetheless, the last squanders are not alluring as they comprise of endless risky foreign substances. The waste derived fuels got potentials as a safe and savvy wellspring of useable fuel. Their change offers the benefits of a decrease in ozone depleting substance outflow, upgrading fuel expansion and a subjectively equivalent energy yield to fossil diesel powers. Hence, waste derived fuels, biodiesel etc. are safe and good to use in diesel engine.

An Exponential Observer Design for a Class of Chaotic Systems with Exponential Nonlinearity

In this paper, a class of generalized chaotic systems with exponential nonlinearity is studied and the state observation problem of such systems is explored. Using differential inequality with time domain analysis, a practical state observer for such generalized chaotic systems is constructed to ensure the global exponential stability of the resulting error system. Besides, the guaranteed exponential decay rate can be correctly estimated. Finally, several numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the validity, effectiveness, and correctness of the obtained result.

Review of the Segregated Cycle Tracks in Bhopal

The cities today witness an unprecedented immigration influx, majorly in all developing countries, as is the case of India. This means more vehicles on city roads. With the unavailability of walking and cycling infrastructure, people are forced to use vehicles majorly powered by petrol and diesel engines, ultimately increasing the carbon emissions. With smart, sustainable and segregated cycling and walking paths, the use of cycles will be encouraged and will contribute immensely in combating climate change. The study involves a case study of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, India. The importance of cycle lanes and its need is discussed through survey of pedestrians and cyclists.

Design and Control of Micro Grid Fed by Renewable Energy Generating Sources

This work presents a control of a micro grid at an isolated location fed from wind and solar based hybrid energy sources. The machine used for wind energy conversion is doubly fed induction generator DFIG and a battery bank is connected to a common DC bus of them. A solar photovoltaic PV array is used to convert solar power, which is evacuated at the common DC bus of DFIG using a DC DC boost converter in a cost effective way. The voltage and frequency are controlled through an indirect vector control of the line side converter, which is incorporated with drop characteristics. It alters the frequency set point based on the energy level of the battery, which slows down over charging or discharging of the battery. The system is also able to work when wind power source is unavailable. Both wind and solar energy blocks have maximum power point tracking MPPT in their control algorithm.

Domestic Liquid Waste Purification and Recycling

Rapid industrialization and urbanization subsequently brought many variations in the environment and ecosystems in the world, as a result there is proportionate increase in the domestic waste generation in India. Growth of urban areas, increase pressure on local water supplies. Already, usage of groundwater aquifers by over half of the world population are being over drawn, as a result, it is no longer advisable to use water once and dispose of it, so reuse and recycling of water is must. For formulating a sustainable water policy, a reliable source of water such as Recycled water should be taken into account. Recycling and reuse of water should be made obligatory to reduce the huge pressure on demand of fresh water. Waste water from water intensive activities should be recycled and reused and make the reclaimed water available for use in the secondary activities either within or outside the locality, resulting in saving lot of water. The total quantity of water used by the domestic sections is much less than that for irrigation. However, the liquid waste released from the domestic sections has a huge amount of pollutants and is discharged at specific disposal points. Thus, the purification of liquid waste generated from domestic projects is of much more importance. The quantity of organic matter in liquid waste is of great importance due to its polluting potential. The availability of oxygen for fish and other aquatic organisms can be reduced due to direct discharge of this matter into water bodies. Here comes the Purification and Recycling of domestic liquid waste into picture. Water recycling, also referred to as water reuse or water reclamation, is an effective method of treating captured or conveyed wastewater and redistributing it to benefit other water dependent applications. Unlike traditional approaches where water is merely discharged as waste after use, water recycling provides a reliable local water supply, helping improve water conservation, cut energy use and costs, minimize diversions from local water bodies, and prevent water pollution 1 . The objective of this work is to study about domestic liquid waste i.e. sewage its purification and recycling. With the help of some case studies this paper gives information about the processes and various units of purification and how the waste water is recycled after getting treated and its application.

Accessing Suitability of Pinned Base and Fixed Base PEB Structure with Pile Foundation

Pre Engineered Buildings PEB buildings nowadays are majorly used in industrial areas for its economy and time optimization. In PEB structures, column base provided can be pinned or fixed. It is a general practice in PEB design that when the piles are provided or when the soil strata is weak, PEB column base selected is a pinned base. In such a condition, economy when compared with a fixed base is generally ignored in Indian practice. In this research, Two different industrial PEB sheds are analyzed and designed according to the Indian standard code IS 800 2007 with two different column base conditions one being the pinned base and another one being the fixed base, both resting on the piles. In this project the economy of structural steel and piles is evaluated for these two column end conditions. The soil under the PEB shed is simulated by the springs of varying stiffness at varying depth. The springs are assigned with the property of soil subgrade reaction obtained from the soil report. Thus bending moment, shear force, and deflection of a pile is found out and the soil can be simulated more accurately.

Investigation on the Creep Behaviour of Friction Stir Processed Al Ni Composite Material

Indentation creep experiments were carried out on friction stirred Aluminum Nickel composite. The samples were cut from Al Ni plate which was undergone by friction stir processing. The specimen was polished by different polishing methods to reveal the macro and micro structure of the material. The macro structure contains two zones base metal zone and friction stirred zone . Creep tests were carried out on both friction stirred and base metal region of test specimen at different temperatures with different loads. It was found that there was a significant difference between the creep rates of friction stirred region and that of base metal region when tested under various conditions. The Activation energy determined was found to in the range of 45KJ Mole to 55KJ Mole at lower temperatures. Based on these results it can be concluded that the operative mechanism is the dislocation creep. But at higher temperature the Activation energy was found to be in the range of 140KJ Mole to 170KJ Mole so the operative mechanism for creep is diffusion creep. Samples were metallographic ally prepared and the microstructures were studied under optical and scanning electron microscope. Results of the experiments were discussed.

Implementation of an Arduino Based Smart Drip Irrigation System

An Arduino based smart irrigation control system has been implemented to facilitate the automatic supply of adequate water from a reservoir to domestic crops at all seasons for effective production. The method employed is to continuously monitor the soil moisture level to determine when water is needed in the soil. A pumping mechanism is used to deliver the needed amount of water to the soil through pipes with vent holes. The work was grouped into power supply unit, sensing unit, control unit and pumping unit. A regulated 12 volts power supply unit was built to power the entire system and soil moisture sensor was used to model the electrical resistance of the soil. The control circuit was implemented using Arduino UNO and the pumping unit consists of a submersible low noise micro water pump using a 12 V small dc operated motor. The System was tested and the results obtained showed that this system was able to achieve total removal of human control from irrigation of domestic crops and also optimize the use of water in the process.

Results of Sulfuric Acid Leaching of Ash from Oil Shale from Aktau Deposit

Hydrometallurgical methods are aimed at leaching to extract valuable components into a sulfuric acid solution, as well as selective extraction on ion exchange resins by sorption of valuable components such as vanadium oxide and molybdenum oxide. The presented methods are not implemented on an industrial scale, since there is no processing of oil shale in the Republic. A prospective scheme for processing ash from oil shale deposits has been analyzed. It includes the addition of sodium chlorine to the heat treatment process pyrolysis , the resulting ash is leached in vats with sulfuric acid 130 g l, at room temperature, S W = 1 3, duration 60 minutes. The resulting metal bearing sulfuric acid solution is filtered and sent to sorption, as well as precipitation. The extraction of metals into solution is more than 60 70 molybdenum and vanadium. It should be noted that with an increase in the consumption of sulfuric acid over 130 g l, the concentration of metals in the productive solution does not increase. For the extraction of metals from the productive solutions of leaching ash from oil shale in the Aktau deposit, the following ion exchange resins of the England Company PUROLITE were used for the extraction of molybdenum grade A 100 and vanadium grade A 109.

Review on High Gain and High Performance N Polar GaN MIS HEMT at 30 GHz

The GaN HEMTs are well suited for receiver applications. But non linearities, such as third order inter modulation products can lead to signal distortion. Such non linearities are dominated by transconductance and its derivatives. A modified device structure of N polar GaN MIS HEMTs designed for high gain, have excellent linearity performance for low power receiver applications at 30 GHz. An OIP3 PDC of up to 15dB is demonstrated at 30 GHz using a vector receiver load pull system.

Implementation of Plastic Waste in Manufacturing of Paving Blocks for Different Shapes

Block Paving is a commonly used decorative method of creating a pavement or hard standing. The main benefit of Paving Blocks Over other materials is that it can later be replaced. Also from Asthetic point of view, Pavers are good. Paving Blocks are generally used for Pedestrian, Parking, etc. Different types of manufacturing methods are now carried out to use some non degrade able material. Plastic Waste is increasing day by day which pollutes the environment. So, it is very much important to implement these waste material such that it can be used for different purposes like recycling and reusing. The disposal of waste plastics PET, PP, etc. is a biggest challenge, as repeated recycling of PET bottles poses a potential danger of being transformed to a carcinogenic material and only a small proportion of PET bottles are being recycled. Because of costly conventional recycling techniques, there has been an increased demand for more scientific and innovative technologies to effectively recycle these materials. But it is not completely possible to reuse and recycle those waste again and again due to danger of cancer. In this project we will use plastic waste in the manufacturing of paving blocks for different shapes and compare their strengths.

Dynamic Heat Transfer modeling, and Simulation of Biomass Fermentation during Beer Processing

The study focuses on the modeling of the temperature profile during the fermentation of beer and the selection of the modelled temperature to simulate the growth of a microorganism, the consumption of proteins and the formation of aromatic compounds ketone and esters . The objective of the study was to determine how to select the best temperature for beer fermentation and how a portion of the biochemical reaction occurs with the controlled selected temperature. Finite element modelling has been used for heat transfer modelling and COMSOL Multiphysics version 5.3 has been used for implementation. Version 17 of MATLAB was used to simulate biochemical changes with the chosen temperature. The simulated results showed that at high coolant flow, a low temperature profile was recorded over the fermentation time. As such, the observed temperatures were 1.2m3 hr, 1.3m3 hr and 1.6m3 h, 20 oC, 18 oC and 12.5 oC, respectively. The modelled vorticity results also indicated that at a flow rate of 1.2m3 hr, there was a consistent flow of liquid around the agitation center relative to other coolant flows. Isoleucine was exhausted after 13hr at 12.5°C, 80hr at 18°C and 16hr at 20°C from the start of fermentation. The simulated results also indicated that ethyl acetate had reached a hold back value of 0.114mol m3 at 70hr at 12.5oC, 30hr at 18oC, and 22hr at 20oC. However, isoamyl acetate retained a retention value of 0.0105 mol m3 until the initial concentration of sugar and amino acids was exhausted throughout fermentation at all selected temperatures. Valine decreased to nearly 195hr at 12.5°C, 120hr at 18°C and 85hr at 20°C. The simulated nutrient results were again shown to be zero in 210hr at 12.5°C, 110hr at 18°C and 90hr at 20°C of luicine consumption.

Gas Bubble Tracking During Casting Filling Process

During numerical simulation, one of the biggest challenges is to simulate the smallest air bubbles that can be entrained in the metal. In fact, in common fluid dynamic simulation of casting process filling each time a region of air gets smaller than the element size it disappears, losing all the information about its presence and the possible defects that this implies. If the engineers with enough experience and good background, who can track the regions of air entrapped during the filling process and check manually where they, especially the last ones, close up and disappear. However, this approach is too approximated and does not keep in account the final movement displacement of the bubble.

Determination of Various Diseases in Two Most Consumed Fruits using Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning Techniques

Fruit diseases are manifested by deformations during or after harvesting the components in the fruit, when the infestation is caused by spores, fungi, insects or other contaminants. In early agricultural practices, it is thought that non destructive examination is possible with the analysis of pre harvest fruit leaves and early diagnosis of the disease, while post harvest detection and classification of fruit disease is possible by evaluating simple image processing techniques. Diseases of rotten or stained fruits without destruction. In this way, the disease will be identified and classified and the awareness of the producer for the next harvest will be provided. For this purpose, studies were carried out with apple and quince fruit, images were determined using still fruit pictures and machine learning, and disease classification was provided with labels. Image processing techniques are a system that detects disease made to a real time camera and prints it on the screen. Within the scope of this study, the data set was created and images of 22 apples and 18 quinces were taken. The image was classified by similarities in the literature review. The success of the proposed Convolutional Neural Network architecture in recognizing the disease was evaluated. By comparing the trained network, AlexNet architecture, with the proposed architecture, it has been determined that the success of image recognition has increased with the proposed method.

Using Mask R CNN to Isolate PV Panels from Background Object in Images

Identifying foreground objects in an image is one of the most common operations used in image processing. In this work, Mask R CNN algorithm is used to identify solar photovoltaic PV panels in aerial images and create a mask that can be used to remove the background from the images. This allows processing the PV panels separately. Using ML to solve this problem can generate more accurate results in comparison to more traditional image processing techniques like using edge detection or Gaussian filtering especially in images where the view might not be easily separable from the objects of interest. The trained model was found to be successful in detecting the PV panels and selecting the pixels that belong to them while ignoring the background pixels. This kind of work can be useful in collecting information about PV installation present in aerial or satellite imagery, or in analyzing the health and integrity of PV modules in large scale installations e.g., in a solar power plant. The results show that this method is effective with a high potential for improved results if the model is trained using larger and more diverse datasets.

Tweedle with Fun An Educational Tool

With the development in technology, social networking sites are booming day by day which results that students are wasting their precious time scrolling up and down the pages in these social sites. Several types of research have been done to take care of this issue by creating applications for students in which they can post their inquiries and individuals solve them. This method of study demonstrated effectiveness for the understudies. Information was integrated through a narrative approach. This is the primary paper to methodically survey the literature on the utilization of web based media like Twitter in students training. So after doing all these researches we decided to write a review on this topic by adding some points and benefits of our application “Tweedle” . It is an android application build in such a way that a student follows their friends, teachers, scholars, graduates, and post graduates. It is somehow working as Twitter. As we know different people are having different opinions so everyone quotes different examples and different ways to make the students understand. With this sort of examining student will have the option to unmistakably comprehend the issue since he will get the arrangements in different ways Even this is also an interesting way of learning because a student will be eager to know the different answers to his problem. By using this application students use social media by not wasting the time.

Navigation Aid for Travelers using NavIC Receiver

In India, many navigation devices and applications are based on American GPS system originally known as GPS Global Positioning System which is the most accurate among all the navigation systems and serves the entire globe. The navigation and positioning applications would be at halt, experiences void and the whole infrastructure and organization based on GPS which are currently in use would be collapsed, if America denies access for GPS service. To fill the void and to overcome dependency, India has developed its own regional navigation system originally named as IRNSS Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System and later renamed as NavIC Navigation using Indian Constellation . In the near future all the applications based on GPS service are to be replaced with NavIC. Various attempts have been made to ease travelling across the globe. A number of applications and smart devices have been developed using GPS with different objectives. In this paper, an attempt has been made to develop a smart portable device using NavIC receiver to assist in travel across India. Using the IRNSS receiver we will get the current location of the person and the person then need to select the destination location from a list of places via GUI. Our application will then direct the person to the destination giving the route map and travel distance.

Design and Analysis of Artificial Intelligence Based Approach for Control of Wind Turbine

Renewable Energy Sources are those energy sources which are not destroyed when their energy is harnessed. The model of wind turbine is based on the steady state power characteristics of the turbine. The stiffness of the drive train is infinite and the friction factor and the inertia of the turbine must be combined with those of the generator coupled to the turbine. In this paper, variable speed wind turbine driving permanent magnet synchronous generator with current controlled voltage source inverter has been proposed. Detailed modeling and control strategies of the overall system has been developed. It is found that under the proposed control strategy the system runs smoothly under randomly and quickly varying wind condition. During both symmetrical and unsymmetrical fault conditions, the system is found stable. Results shows that by using Current Source Inverter CSI stability of wind power can be achieved. By using CSI based Controller voltage source inverter or any separate storage energy system is not required. A model is used to determine the behavior of the wind turbine, induction generator and load.

Emission Characteristics and Performance of Catalytic Converter A Review

In recent years, several strategies such as fuel treatment, engine modification, EGR and catalytic converter have been introduced to control emissions from vehicles. Catalytic converter equipment is efficient and commonly used. Catalytic converters reduce emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter from internal combustion engines and allow more strict pollution standards to be met. In this study paper different methods and strategies to increase efficiency of catalytic converter is discussed. The efficiency of the catalytic converter is updated according to literature survey improvements in design, shape and content. The hexagonal monolith shape was found to have better mechanical efficiency than the square shape. Catalytic converters based on nickel have cut HC by 40 percent and CO by 35 percent. Nobel metals are toxic and costly, so we can use non noble metals such as Cu, Ag, Au, Fe, etc.

Comparison of Strength Characteristics of Concrete by using Fly Ash and Rice Husk Ash

A state of extreme landfill areas redevelopment program in many parts of the country has cause to bring the use of recycled aggregate. The low quality of recycled aggregate has limited its use to low grade applications such as roadwork sub base and pavements, while its adoption for higher grade concrete is rare because of the lower compressive strength and higher variability in mechanical performance of recycled aggregate. A new concrete mixing method, that is the two stage mixing approach TSMA , was publically recommends to improve the quality of recycled aggregate concrete RAC by splitting the mixing process into two stages. The variation of compressive strength by experimental analysis involving the new mixing method with the two stage mixing approach by proportioning ingredients with the percentage of recycled coarse aggregates RCA , fly ash and rice husk ash. Based on experiments and results, improves strength to RAC were achieved with TSMA. This can be regarded as to the porous nature of RA and the mixing process that fills up some of its pores and cracks, resulting in a denser aggregate and concrete. An improved zone of RA gives a more strength than the normal mixing approach.

What Constrains Smallholder Farmers Decisions to Participate and use Agricultural Value Chain Financing in Rwanda The Case of Smallholder Potato Farmers in Musanze and Nyabihu Districts

Smallholder farmers contribute more to food security and poverty reduction in Rwanda. However, lack of agricultural finance is one of numerous challenges they face for improving productivity and increasing income along the value chain. The objectives of this paper were to determine the factors influencing the farmers’ decision to participate and use agricultural value chain financing in Rwanda and to analyse the constraints hindering smallholder farmers’ decision to participate and use agricultural value chain financing in Rwanda. Cross sectional data were collected from a random sample of 585 smallholder potato farmers in Musanze and Nyabihu Districts. Results of probit model revealed that sex, age, marital status, education, farming experience, membership to farming associations, household income and distance to market significantly influence the farmers’ decision to participate and use of agricultural value chain financing. The study also found that financing agricultural activities remain a key challenge for smallholder potato farmers. Fear of borrowing, lack of financial literacy, lack of skills in budgeting and unexpected production, interest rate and others loans charges, lack of collaterals, short repayment period and lack of financial literacy have been found to be the main factors constraining potato farmers’ participation and use of agricultural value chain financing. Nevertheless, potato productivity will always result from the interaction between all potato value chain actors. The study recommended the government and value chain stakeholders to formulate integrated policies that facilitate smallholder farmers to access to convenient financing products in order to improve productivity and to meet the customer demands.

Planning and Scheduling of a Corrugated Cardboard Manufacturing Process in IoT

The automation has revolutionized the traditional product development scheme by using advanced design and manufacturing technologies such as computer aided design, process planning, and scheduling. However, research in this field was still based mostly on experimentation, as most manufacturing companies did not use simulation techniques in the implementation of their manufacturing planning and scheduling process. In order to address this problem, software developers have put simulation software tools in the market such as Enterprise Resource Planning ERP , Advanced Planning and Scheduling APS , and Risk based Planning and Scheduling RPS systems. In this paper, a methodology to model high degree of accuracy for the production floor, the planning and scheduling of corrugated cardboard manufacturing process through RPS simulation in Internet of Things IoT environment is established. The RPS model is able to generate a deterministic schedule without randomness, create a risk analysis of the planning and scheduling, and handle the uncertainty.

Automatic Regulation and Monitoring of CPM Machine

The aim of this project is empowered by adding independency to the individuals during Continuous Passive Motion. In this project, a Continuous Passive Motion CPM Machine is designed that will enable the patient to move their leg continuously. This project is for measuring the muscle oxygen of the patient who is using CPM and to control the motion. The oxygen level is measured by using the Near Infrared spectroscopic principle and is attached as a device to the patient and it continuously monitors the oxygen level. This is performed after surgeries like total knee replacement and anterior circulate ligament reconstruction. Patient who has undergone these surgeries must be treated with CPM machine. But the machine could not identify the tearing of the muscles during the procedure and this could lead to post surgical trauma. To prevent these damages to the muscles NIRS is attached to this mechanism. It detects the oxy hemoglobin level in the tissues and stops the machine when the muscle oxygen reaches the threshold value 90 mmHg . The potentiometer is used to vary the oxygen level manually since the oxygen level below the threshold cannot be measured practically. The machine continuously works when the oxygen level is above the threshold. Moreover, ESP8266 module is used to monitor the oxygen level continuously and the data is stored in the cloud for future references.

Attitude of Students towards Integral Calculus through the Screening Examination Strategy

One thing that may affect the students’ perception of mathematics is the attitude of the students towards the subject. This study was conducted to assess the attitude of students towards integral calculus. The subjects of this study were the 94 second year students of the College of Engineering taking up BSAE, BSCE, BSEE and BSME who were enrolled in Integral Calculus. This group of students were a combination of the first timer and repeaters in Integral Calculus. This were the students who were not screened out from the screening examination conducted by the researcher. It employed the descriptive correlational method using the frequency counts, weighted means and analysis of variance. The instrument used in this study was the attitude scale. This instrument was administered to the students before the first screening examination and after the last screening examination. Results revealed that students have favourable attitudes towards integral calculus before and after the screening examination strategy. However, results also revealed that the profile of the students in terms of gender, number of times the student took the subject and the students’ performance on the prerequisite subject has nothing to do or did not influence the attitudes of the students towards the subject.

Errors Committed in Integral Calculus Basis for a Review Guide

This study determined the errors of engineering students in Integral Calculus in the University of Eastern Philippines UEP , Catarman, Northern Samar as basis in developing a review guide. It adopted a developmental research design. A total of 162 second year Engineering students taking up Integral Calculus, who were enrolled on the Second Semester of School Year 2016 2017,were the respondents of this study. The findings of this study show that majority of the students in Integral Calculus got “fair” to “passing” grades in their pre requisite subjects and that most of the students taking up Integral Calculus are first time takers. As shown in the results, the students had hard time understanding Integral Calculus concepts which comprises the majority of the total errors committed. The other errors committed were concepts in Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Basic Mathematics, Differential Calculus and Plane Trigonometry and due to carelessness in their solutions. These findings indicate that for the preliminary topics in Integral Calculus, the pre requisite subject where most of the students committed errors is Algebra. This can be attributed to some difficulty they are experiencing in recalling the concepts learned in this subject. The findings also show that for the higher integration techniques topics in Integral Calculus, most students are having hard time understanding these integration concepts. And in application of integration concepts in finding plane areas under and between curves and volumes of revolutions, the students lack the skills in sketching the graph. The development of a review guide for remedial instruction prior to and at the early part of the subject Integral Calculus, generally, aims to help the students, taking up Integral Calculus, in recollecting the concepts in its pre requisite subjects. The topics included are the identified concepts in pre Integral Calculus subjects where the engineering students commonly commit errors.
