Results of Sulfuric Acid Leaching of Ash from Oil Shale from Aktau Deposit

Hydrometallurgical methods are aimed at leaching to extract valuable components into a sulfuric acid solution, as well as selective extraction on ion exchange resins by sorption of valuable components such as vanadium oxide and molybdenum oxide. The presented methods are not implemented on an industrial scale, since there is no processing of oil shale in the Republic. A prospective scheme for processing ash from oil shale deposits has been analyzed. It includes the addition of sodium chlorine to the heat treatment process pyrolysis , the resulting ash is leached in vats with sulfuric acid 130 g l, at room temperature, S W = 1 3, duration 60 minutes. The resulting metal bearing sulfuric acid solution is filtered and sent to sorption, as well as precipitation. The extraction of metals into solution is more than 60 70 molybdenum and vanadium. It should be noted that with an increase in the consumption of sulfuric acid over 130 g l, the concentration of metals in the productive solution does not increase. For the extraction of metals from the productive solutions of leaching ash from oil shale in the Aktau deposit, the following ion exchange resins of the England Company PUROLITE were used for the extraction of molybdenum grade A 100 and vanadium grade A 109.

Characterization and Dielectric Study of Mihaliccik Tremolite

The natural tremolite Ca2Mg5Si8O22 OH 2 was obtained from Mihaliccik district of Eskisehir, Turkey 39.8787N 31.3806E . It is a part of the amphibole family of silicate minerals. All the phases were described by X ray diffraction XRD , energy dispersive spectroscopy EDXRF , Raman, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy FTIR . The natural tremolite specimen used in this study includes mostly 54.4 SiO2, 22.82 MgO, 15.04 CaO, and 1.45 Al2O3. The natural tremolite sample used for the present investigation was not pure. The impurity was calcite. The FTIR spectrum and the Raman spectrum were recorded for natural tremolite sample in the range of 4000 and 350 cm 1 and 4000 and 70 cm 1 at room temperature, respectively. The natural tremolite and fired tremolite samples were prepared for this investigation. Dielectric measurements were realized in the 3 kHz ' 1 MHz frequency region and at the room temperature by using HP4192A LF Impedance Analyzer. The dielectric parameters of the samples were obtained the conclusions of the study were explained and given to be used for further investigations in some industrial productions.

Study on the Analysis of Chromite Refractory Brick from Mwe Taung Chromite Ore

This research paper is the preliminary study of testing the feasibility of chromite ore to produce refractory. Chromite ore was taken from Mwe Taung, in Chin State, Myanmar. Chromite ore contains iron oxide, alumina, magnesia, lime, chromic oxide and silica. The prepared chromite has been extensively used for high temperature metallurgical reactions. The chemical analysis of chromite ore was done to know the composition. Composition expresses the percentage of oxide component which can able to determine whether the refractory is acidic, basic or neutral. The chromite ore studied in this research is neutral refractory. The experiment of chromite refractory brick production was carried out first, the chromite powder are reduced to 50 mesh, 100 mesh and 200 mesh through sieving and then, mixed with magnesium chloride as binder, applied to 400 tons pressure, heated at drying temperature 200°C for twenty four hours and at firing temperature 1580°C for fifty two hours to produce chromite refractory brick. Analysis of locally available chromite refractory brick produced is tested. The standard properties such as cold crushing strength, apparent specific gravity, apparent porosity, bulk density and water absorption.

An Experimental Analysis of Turning Operation in SAE E52100 Alloy

Turning is a one type of machining process typically a non-rotary tool bit by moving linearly while the work piece rotates. It is used to create a cylindrical part by cutting unwanted materials. Today computer numerical control can be used, better known as CNC. Axles and shafts can be manufactured by turning process.by the different machining parameters such as feed, depth of cut and speed production rate and the quality of the product can also increase.

Optical parameters play an important role in increase the productivity, reducing lead time with desired product quality at minimum cost. The experiments were conducted with Taguchi's L 9 mixed orthogonal array. EN 31 alloy steel can be machined by the Non-coated insert in computer numerical control lathe(CNC). By using the optical parameters individually for minimum surface roughness and maximum material removal rate(MRR) were found using taguchi analysis.

Effect of Deep Cryogenic Treatment on the Tensile Behavior of AISI 8620 Gear Steel

Life expectancy of mechanical systems is always dependent on the most critical component of the system. Gears represent the most highly stressed parts of a heavy vehicle; these are typically made of AISI 8620 steel. This paper investigates the influence of cryogenic treatment on the tensile properties of hardened tempered AISI 8620 steel. In the current research study, specimens of gear steel (AISI 8620) were hardened at 1193K, tempered at 473K and then cryogenically treated at 88K followed by soft tempering in the oven at 373K for 1hr to relieve cooling stresses. A comparative study on the effects of deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) on hardened tempered specimens and conventional heat treated specimens was made by means of tension testing.

This test was conducted as per ASTM standard E 8M. The present results confirms that the tensile behavior is marginally reduced after cryogenic treatment for AISI 8620 steel when compared with conventional hardened tempered steel. Stereographic image analysis of the fracture surface indicates the presence of dimples and flat regions are more common in DCT '“ processed material.
