The Shunt Active Power Filter to Compensate Reactive Power and Harmonics with optimized PI controller in a 3 Phase 3 Wire Distribution System

In this paper is to study the denomination Power quality and large refers to maintaining a proximal sinusoidal power distribution bus voltage at rated magnitude and frequency. This is mainly affected by the generation of harmonics. Even though electronic and non-linear devices are flexible, economical and energy efficient, they may degrade power quality by creating harmonic currents and consuming excessive reactive power.

This paper shows the method of improving the power quality using shunt active power filter with proposed optimized PI. The proposed topic comprises of PI controller, filter hysteresis current control loop, dc link capacitor. The switching signal generation for filter is from hysteresis current controller techniques. With the all these element shunt active power filter reduce the total harmonic distortion.

Its source current, compensating current and THD values are studied, then PI control strategy is applied then the differences in THD are compared. The PI feedback compensation design starts with the small signal system' transfer function. Then an optimum constant of PI for a Shunt-APF is proposed and implemented to enhance its response to compensation of harmonics of linear and non-linear loads.

The obtained results have demonstrated the ability to compensate the current harmonics effectively under distorted source conditions. The fluctuation in the dc bus voltage of the filter depends on the compensation speed of the outer loop that regulates the dc bus voltage. The proposed shunt active filter model uses balanced linear and non-linear load works successfully lowers the THD within IEEE norms and satisfactorily works to compensate current harmonics. The model is made in MATLAB SIMULINK and successfully reduces the harmonic in the source current.

Comparison of Two Compensation Control Strategies for Shunt Active Power Filter in three Systems

Use of nonlinear loads has been increased in large extent in industries now-a-days which injects harmonic currents in supply system. These harmonics creates power quality issue. Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) is the popular and efficient solution to reduce these harmonics. SAPF can overcome voltage sag, eliminate harmonics and improves power factor.

SAPF reduces total harmonic distortion (THD) to acceptable level. Reference current generation is the heart of APF. Reference current generation using instantaneous reactive power (IRP) theory is presented in this paper. IRP theory is widely used to control active power filters (APFs). Modeling of this technique is implemented in MATLABsimulink. The system is experimentally implemented using DS1104 card of d SPACE system.

The Shunt Active Power Filter to Compensate Reactive Power and optimized THD with Improved Power by PI controller in a 3 Phase 3 Wire Distribution Network

Three phase induction motors are the most common and frequently encountered machines in industry. This type of machines has simple in design and easy to maintain. This project deals with study and analysis of performance of induction motor and study and implementation of various possible controllers using vector control scheme. The PI and PID controller has been discussed and literature survey has been carried out. On the basis of literature survey PI and PID control system are developed here.

SMS Alarm System for Weather Station using Arduino and GSM Module

Nowadays, the monitoring of weather is utilized to make many important decisions on a daily routine. So, by using one of the technologies, this alarm system is designed for real-time weather station using Arduino and GSM module. This real-time weather station is to send the LCD display and the alert to the user via short message sending (SMS) in the wake of a critically of an event which is predefined by the user. One of the important applications of the system is to send the alarm message to the defined mobile phone number. This system is to be convenient for monitoring the weather conditions without manual efforts.

Process Improvement Using Statistical Process Control in a Small Scale Industry

Different methods are used in an organization to improve productivity, one such method is Statistical process Control(SPC).Statistical process control is a collection of tools, that when used together can result in process stability and variance reduction, thereby leading to a more streamlined production process.

This paper presents a case study of SPC to improve the performance of current process by reducing the variability in the dimension of parts produced, there by diminish rejections and improving the process. By carrying out mathematical calculations and using various SPC tools, process capability study was done under existing conditions, some improvements were done in the existing welding fixture used for producing the part to improve their capabilitiy indices.

In this study after the application of SPC tools and integrating the suggested changes in existing process, great improvements were seen, as such the capability indices which were 0.1.1&0.38 respectively for the existing process, increased to 1.91&1.50 respectively for the improved process, thereby representing good process performance with higher strength.

Experimental Investigation on the Properties of Concrete with Plastic Pet Bottle Fibers as Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregates

Industrial activities in India are associated with significant amounts of non-biodegradable solid waste, waste plastic being among the most prominent. This study involved 86 experiments and 254 tests to determine the efficiency of reusing waste plastic in the production of concrete. Thirty kilograms of waste plastic of fabriform shapes was used as a partial replacement for sand by 0%, 1%, 2%, 2.5%, 3% and 5% with 80 kg of concrete mixtures.

All of the concrete mixtures were tested at room temperature. These tests include performing slump, compressive strength, cost analysis, and weight analysis. 14 cubes were molded for compressive strength and dry density tests, Curing ages of 3, 7, 14, and 28 days for the concrete mixtures were applied in this work.

The results proved the arrest of the propagation of micro cracks by introducing waste plastic of fabriform shapes to concrete mixtures. This study insures that reusing waste plastic as a sand-substitution aggregate in concrete gives a good approach to reduce the cost of materials and solve some of the solid waste problems posed by plastics.

Behaviour of Interlocking Hollow Concrete Blocks

India is one of the highly populated countries of the world. It ranks the second in population next to China. Besides, major section of the people live below poverty line. Due to over population, poverty, high land value & house deficit, major cities like Delhi & Mumbai are covered by slums. These slums not only make our country aesthetically bad but also the people living in such slums are deprived from basic facilities like proper sanitation, health care, and proper housing. The provision of affordable housing for these poor people needs to be facilitated by certain provisions.

This can be possible only by introducing such technologies and materials that can be beneficial for building low-cost houses. Researchers worldwide have made significant efforts to find sustainable and affordable technologies to arrest the situation. Appropriate solution for affordable housing will vary from one location to another. Some general rules, however, apply to construction methods and housing systems.

This project aims for developing a technology called dry stacking or mortar less buildings made from interlocking blocks. Mortarless brick construction, usually employing interlocking bricks, is growing in popularity round the world, indicative of acceptability. Mortarless techniques demonstrate the following advantages: increase of construction productivity, reduction in construction duration and labor and reduced construction cost. Because of its technological simplicity and local resource dependence, mortarless-block construction is more appropriate to many local communities than conventional mortared-brick techniques.
