Effect of Static Load on Cast Iron Drainage Manhole Cover

Drainage manhole covers are widely used in sanitary sewer and storm water systems in world. However, technical information regarding their structural aspects is limited. The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the effect of main parameters that impact the design of manhole cover. A three-dimensional finite element model for circular manhole cover was developed using AutoCAD, solid works and NX. The 3d model was analyzed by ANSYS for different parameters like different load and different material. Here cast iron is used as material of cover. The load condition was applied for two type of cover one without stiffer and with stiffer.

Impacts of Big Data on Smart Farming

Farming is the broadest monetary segment and assumes as a critical part in general financial advancement of a country. Technological headway in this field of agribusiness will find a way to build the cultivating exercises. Smart farming has a potential to deliver a productive and sustainable agricultural production, based on a precise and resource efficient approach. Smart farming is an improvement that underscores the utilization of data and correspondence innovation in the digital physical farm administration cycle.

New advancements for example the internet of things and cloud computing are relied upon to use this improvement and present more robots and computerized reasoning in cultivation. This is done by the big data gigantic volumes of information with a wide assortment that can be caught, broken down and utilized for basic leadership. This survey expects to pick up understanding into the nest in class of Big data applications in smart farming and distinguish the financial difficulties to be tended to.

Performance Evaluation of Radon Mitigating Materials for Building a Radon Resistant Dwelling

Radon mitigation performance of SGMs and ARMs was evaluated in five different modes, two of which are active modes supported by a ventilation fan on and the others are passive modes with no fan. The test was performed in a concrete structure consisting of eight partitioned rooms. The bottom side of each room is covered with gravels and radon gas soil sampled at nearby open fields. Then, SGMs and ARMs are installed on top of the soil to block the radon gas.

The test is performed for three days in passive modes and for another three days in active modes. Then, the radon concentration is measured with an E-perm monitor. These tests are repeated for three different levels of radon gas concentration in the sample soil, labeled as low (L), medium (M) and high (H). Experimental results present two observations. The first one is that, in accordance with the EPA recommendations, radon mitigating materials make much greater effects when they are used in an active mode.

The best result was from A-1 mode (SGM+ARM+fan). For all of L, M and H soil samples, the radon concentration turned out to be the lowest, about 10 % ~ 40 % of 148 Bq/m3, the EPA activation level (EAL). In A-2 mode (SGM+ fan), the concentration was a reasonably fair level, about 25 % ~ 48 % of EAL. The second observation is that the performance of mitigating materials used in passive modes is unreliable. In all of three passive test modes, the radon concentration was higher than the EAL, or just below the EAL.

V- Drop: Automatic Book Drop

In the existing system, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (henceforth addressed as VIT) Library is situated on 3rd floor. Its a bit tiresome for students and professors to go upstairs for just returning books or just to extend the book return date. Efforts needed to go upstairs till 3rd floor are deduced as the proposed system gives facility to deposit those books and also reissue them on ground floor itself. Along with the fine payment, timely reminders are sent to the students/professors for reminding the return date of the book. An SMS is also sent to the librarian to empty the bins in machine.

Analysis and Design of Shear Wall with Various Openings Criteria

œShear wall in a building construction, a rigid vertical diaphragm capable of transferring lateral forces from exterior wall , floors and roofs to the ground foundation in a direction parallel to their planes . Example,.reinforced concrete wall. Wind and seismic loads are the most common load that shear wall are designed to carry. In this project we are going to study about shear wall and its various openings . According to the previously studied papers, shear wall having different kind of opening shows different behavior .

Variation in the opening can be of its size , percentage of opening with respect to size of wall , its shape and location. The variation regarding shear wall will be its thickness. We are also going to study parameter such as seismic loads, storey drift , storey displacement , lateral stiffness. .After considering all these parameters with respect to shear wall and its opening , the behavior of shear wall can be concluded.

Application of Industrial Engineering to increase the productivity of an E-Rickshaw factory

Productivity improvement is an important issue in small-scale industry. The profit earning of this industry largely depends on productivity improvement. This study shows the way of finding gap of production process and operations. By implementing work study and method study and established new effective process for particular operation, we have to able to increase productivity. Especially this study shows the improvement of productivity in assembly area of E-rickshaw manufacturing industry.

The line balancing is the key point to increase productivity to particular products. After line balancing and critical analysis the work content was reduced by 9 minutes. Our proposed method helps to increase productivity to 19.97% with reduction of work content and line balancing.

A Study on Security in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) present myriad application opportunities for several applications such as precision agriculture, environmental and habitat monitoring, traffic control, industrial process monitoring and control, home automation and mission-critical surveillance applications such as military surveillance, healthcare (elderly, home monitoring) applications, disaster relief and management, fire detection applications among others. Since WSNs are used in mission-critical tasks, security is an essential requirement.

Sensor nodes can easily be compromised by an adversary due to unique constraints inherent in WSNs such as limited sensor node energy, limited computation and communication capabilities and the hostile deployment environments.
