Nano Scale Surface Characterization of Poly Ethyleneterephthalate Silicon Rubber Copolymers using Atomic Force Microscopy

Atomic force microscopy has been used to investigated the surface properties of different materials, in this paper it is used to measure the surface roughness and surface adhesive force of three different membrane samples Poly ethyleneterephthalate PET , Silicon Rubber SR and PET SRcopolymers. This analytical method allows images representing the topography and adhesive force Phase image of the surface to be captured simultaneously at a molecular nanometer resolution. The distribution of hydrophilic polar groups and the surface roughness on the investigated surfaces ofthese membrane samples influences the subsequent processing of polymeric membrane manufacture as well as their performance. From the results a clear distinction was observed between the three samples in both images the topography surface roughness images and adhesive force images. Promising result were obtained for the PET SRcopolymer samples to be a good candidate in membrane separation applications. This study may also help to explain the differences in membrane performances and efficiency during applications in the separation process.

Smart Integrated Trolley for Future Super Markets

Among the various sectors that contribute to the economic growth of a country, the service sector, especially the retail sector, plays an important role. In that sense, the retail sector especially in supermarkets, in India is growing very fast. However, there is a problem in getting qualified labours for the development of the sector. Thus, this creates a situation where supermarkets lose their customers and their profits. Although various innovations have been implemented in the supermarkets to address these issues, it does not seem to be sufficiently satisfactory. Smart Integrated Trolley for Future Super Markets is recommended here to address these shortcomings. In this system, the control unit is integrated with the entrance unit, trolley unit, and check out unit. Trolley will smartly receive the payment for the items selected by the customer and give the receipt. The customer can also ask about his doubts and queries through a wireless two way communication device in the trolley. Using this system enables better service to customers and also helps to reduce the number of labours. And there is no doubt that supermarkets operating in more than one shift mode will increase the quality of their service and their profit margin when they use this system.

An In depth Review on Bridge Crack Detection Approaches

Bridges are mega structures that have been utilized and built for millennia. These structures are highly effective in achieving transportation and commute between two highly inaccessible destinations easily. Bridges are also highly effective in reducing traffic was by allowing the use of an alternate path for the traffic flow to be resumed. This makes them highly versatile and extremely effective in various scenarios. But as with any constructed structures, these bridges need to be evaluated for their structural integrity and surveyed for any flaws or cracks that have been emerged over time. This is usually done manually by a civil engineer which is a time consuming process and can also introduce human error. Therefore to improve this procedure and number of related works have been analyzed extensively to achieve bridge crack detection through image processing methodologies. An effective approach has been envisioned through the use of convolutional neural networks and decision tree techniques to achieve bridge crack detection which will be further elaborated in the next edition of this research article.

Factors Influencing Smallholder Potato Farmers’ Choice Decisions of Market Outlets in Musanze and Nyabihu Districts, Rwanda A Multivariate Probit Model

Potato Solanum tuberosum L. is an important crop that plays a major role in food security and poverty reduction to a large proportion of rural farmers in the North West than other parts of Rwanda. However, potato is a perishable product which necessitates an effective choice decision of the market outlet. This paper presents factors influencing smallholder potato farmers’ choice decisions for market outlets in Rwanda. Through a multistage sampling technique, cross sectional data were collected from 585 smallholder potato farmers in Musanze and Nyabihu Districts. Both descriptive statistical methods and econometrics methods were used for data analysis. Multivariate probit model was used to determine the factors influencing smallholder potato farmers’ choice decision to sell to particular market outlets. Results showed that farming experiences, level of education of decision maker, household size, household income, household assets, access to market information and distance to market significantly influenced the smallholder potato farmers’ choice decisions of selling to consumer, retailer, wholesaler, cooperative, collection centres and processors market outlets. The study recommends establishment of structured market systems to improve access to potato market information. This should be supported by agricultural financingfor improved seeds acquisition and other productive inputs to enable farmers to increase surplus potato supplied to market. Improving the farmers’ education in marketing would also help them to effectively deliver potato to efficient market outlet.

A Survey Paper on Leakage Power and Delay in CMOS Circuits

Power consumption is one of the top issues of VLSI circuit design, for which CMOS is the primary technology. Today’s focus on low power is not only because of the recent growing demands of mobile applications. Even before the mobile era, power consumption has been a fundamental problem. To solve the power dissipation problem, many researchers have proposed different ideas from the device level to the architectural level and above. However, there is no universal way to avoid tradeoffs between power, delay and area and thus, designers are required to choose appropriate techniques that satisfy application and product needs. In this paper we study different author’s paper to relate to this problem and try to find out the best solution for future work.

An Introduction to Cluster Computing

A computer cluster could be a group of joined computers, operating along closely so in several respects they type one laptop. The parts of a cluster area unit ordinarily, however not forever, connected to every different through quick native space networks. Clusters area unit typically deployed to enhance performance and or handiness over that provided by one laptop, whereas usually being far more cost efficient than single computers of comparable speed or accessibility. The major objective within the cluster is utilizing a bunch of process nodes therefore on complete the assigned job in an exceedingly minimum quantity of your time by operating hand in glove. the most and necessary strategy to realize such objective is by transferring the additional hundreds from busy nodes to idle nodes. In this paper weve presented style and of a cluster based framework . The cluster implementation involves the planning of a server named MCLUSTER that manages the configuring, resetting of cluster. Framework handles the generation of application mobile code and its distribution to appropriate client nodes. The consumer node receives and executes the mobile code that defines the distributed job submitted by MCLUSTER server and replies the results back.

Seismic Analysis of Irregular Building Frames with Soil Structure Interaction

Seismic response of structure is extremely complex because of the non linear behavior soil during earthquakes. Seismic design of structures is generally carried out assuming fixed base ignoring the flexibility of soil. The main objective of the study is to investigate the significance of effect of soil structure interaction on building with mass irregularity. The dynamic contact approach was utilized to simulate pounding between the adjacent buildings. Nonlinear finite element analysis was performed for two adjacent multi story structures with four different configuration representing cases that can exist in reality. The seismic response of the studied cases generally emphasized that ignoring the soil flexibility and or the contribution of the infill panels may significantly alter the response of adjacent structures. Response spectrum analysis has been carried out and the parameters like time period, base shear, roof top displacement and storey drift of the building frames resting over foundation and soil media has been studied.

Design and Analysis of Portable Dishwasher

There is a need of commercial dishwashers in the big hotel chains, for the purpose of cleaning dishes efficiently and cheaply. All the models of commercial dishwashers today rely completely on water cycles for the purpose of cleaning dishes. The water usage is very high in them. Also, some of the models do not provide the desired clean whereas some are not suitable for particular type of dish material. And all of them use hot water which further increases the cost of heating the water to desired temperature. Our aim is to provide a solution to these problems by the use of rolling mechanism, which would allow the brushing bristles to come in contact with dishes for cleaning rather than relying completely on water, which would provide a hand like clean. This would reduce the excessive use of water and provide more satisfactory clean with an experience of traditional hand cleaning. Washing dishes is most commonly done activity in the world, in most of families people wash dishes by hand which is straining to muscles and detergent is chemically harmful. As far as manual process is concerned in houses of India, washing is done by hand scrubbing which is straining to the muscles through its energy and postural requirements.

Generation of Syngas using Anacardium Occidentale

The purpose of this project is to produce syngas from Anacardium occidentale shell which can be used in the piston engine of a short range helicopters like Mosquito XEL etc. which can be used for various applications like for agriculture fertilization and for local transport in an affordable price to the civilians. This anacardium occidentale is also known as cashew nut in most of the region. This project states the production of the syngas through downdraft gasification process as it is proven that it produces very less tar waste compared to other gasifiers. In this project, we will be also reusing the biomass char by converting it into an active catalyst which can be used for various applications like bio diesel production and in pyrolysis process to boost up the chemical reactions. This project also involves the waste management as we are running out of renewable resources of fuel such as fossil fuels which are obtained from the earth. In this project, we will be able to make use of such a fuel in the aviation industry which is obtained from a waste of a phytomass. In this project, we will be focusing on the production of this fuel from anacardium occidentale shells and study its characteristics by distinguishing with other phytomasses.

A Beacon Enabled Smart Library Management System

Nowadays, Global Positioning Systems GPS receivers are used for outdoor navigation, which are the part of recent smartphones and tablet devices. How ever, GPS is not suitable for indoor navigations due to its signal limitations which are blocked by ceiling and walls. Indoor navigation can be achieved through a mobile phone using a recent technology that utilizes Bluetooth, namely beacons. Beacons are small transmitters, run on Bluetooth Low Energy BLE technology, used as a point of reference for mobile devices and they can detect a Bluetooth enabled device once it enters its transmission range. In this paper, we present Library a beacon assisted indoor navigation technique for smart libraries. The proposed indoor navigation technique can also be used for other applications such as offices, retails, airports, hospitality, and education. For experimentation, beacons are placed in a library and a Bluetooth enabled smart phone is used to install a digital library application App which communicates with the beacons. The result shows that when the smartphone comes in the range of a beacon, it shows the information related to the book on the smart phone screen.

Semi Automatic Glass Cleaning Machine for Dirty Windows

Window panel cleaning makes the building’s architectural glass free from dust and dirt. The traditional way of cleaning office windows cannot be applied to high rise windows with huge sections of glass. Cleaning the windows from outside requires special tools in going up and it’s unsafe. The Window cleaner proposed is a device that would be controlled by using a microcontroller. This device would be safer compared to traditional methods of window cleaning in case of high glass structures that increase the risk of loss of human life. The structure of the proposed device consists of a triangular frame and uses a suction cup based adhesion technique to adhere to the glass surface. The movement of the frame over the glass is done by using special rigging. The frame consists of an automated cleaner which is run by motors and pre programmed microcontrollers. The automated cleaner moves in the vertical direction within the frame.

Solar Irradiation Prediction using back Propagation and Artificial Neural Network

Solar Energy is one of most promising potential renewable sources of energy. But among all the conventional sources of renewable energy, its nature is quite unpredictable owing to the fact that the solar irradiation keeps on changing and fluctuating. This leads to uncertainty in ascertaining the exact measure of solar power that can be harnessed. Hence forth, a solar irradiation model based on solar irradiation using ANN shall aid in preliminary estimation of the measure of solar power energy that is available for usage incorporating the load dispatch and grid. This proposed work of study puts forward an Artificial Intelligence based model of a Solar Irradiation Forecasting implemented by Artificial Neural Networks ANN . ANN is utilized accredited to its adaptive, data driven and nonlinear nature that exhibits high efficacy in forecasting domains. An endeavor has been also made for solar irradiation forecast using the ANN along with Levenberg Marquardt LM algorithm. The primary reason for using the Levenberg Marquardt algorithm is the fact that is an extremely effective algorithm employing back propagation. The attributes of the algorithm are high stability and speed which yields lesser number of iterations and relatively less magnitude of errors. The evaluation of the proposed system needs to be done on performance specific parameters which in this case are chosen as Mean Absolute Percentage Error MAPE and Regression. Mean absolute percentage error indicates the amount of errors present in the prediction which is to say the deviation between the actual targets and predicted output. Another parameter which validates the mean absolute percentage error is the regression which is a graphical representation of discrete values in the target set and the predicted output. Additional analysis mechanisms such as training states has been also presented which depicts how the mean square error plummets as the number of iterations increase. The variation of mean square error can be seen in training, testing and validation phases. The neural network topology used is 1 20 1 indicating one neuron in the input layer, 20 neurons in the hidden layer and 1 neuron in the output layer respectively. It has been shown that the proposed methodology attains a very good accuracy of approximately 97.74 with the error rate amounting to a meager 2.76 . This model serves to be a robust mechanism and shows good performance. The low error and high accuracy can be attributed to the efficacy of back propagation in Artificial Neural Networks. A comparative analysis is also presented with contemporary work that attains an error of 30 , proving the fact that the proposed system outperforms the contemporary techniques.

Review on Doubling the Rate of SEFDM Systems using Hilbert Pairs

A novel multi carrier technique for spectrally efficient frequency division multiplexing SEFDM system for improving the spectral efficiency is discussed. A Hilbert pair is utilized as pulse shaping filters. At the the Hilbert pulse pair is generated using the square root raised cosine pulse and an equivalent matched filter configuration is utilized to generate the Hilbert pair at receiver. Simulations with different values of compression factor of the SEFDM signals were carried out to verify the data rate gain of the proposed system. The proposed system has no degradation in bit error rate performance with the data rate doubled relative to conventional SEFDM system. For system using turbo coding, there is significant BER improvement compared to uncoded transmission.
