Seed Quality Analysis Using Image Processing and ANN

The use of good quality seed is important for the satisfactory production of a good quality crop and is essential for export in markets. Quality control is very important in food industry because based on quality of food products are classified and graded into different grades. Quality of grain is evaluated manually but it is very much, time consuming, may be varying results and costly. Digital image processing can be used for quality evaluation and grading of agricultural food in industry. One of the major step in quality analysis of grains is grading of grains, which is normally done either manually or using expensive electronics equipments.

We propose a simple method based on image processing and using Artificial Neural Network for grading of rice granules Here grading will be performed by calculating rice seed major axis length ,miner axis length, area ,eccentricity and perimeter. Result will be displayed on LCD and also there is an audio message . The paper presents a solution of grading and analysis of rice grains on the basis of grain size and shape using image processing techniques and Artificial neural network. This method requires minimum time and it is low in cost.

Fusion of Multispectral and Panchromatic Images based on Fourier Filtering in HSV Color Space

A large number of imaging sensors in the field of remote sensing capture images with different spatial and spectral resolutions. Given a low spatial resolution multispectral image (MS) and a high spatial resolution panchromatic image (PAN), the proposed algorithm aims to enhance the spatial resolution of MS images while simultaneously preserving the high spectral information contained in it. Thus, a method of fusion of MS and PAN images based on Fourier filtering in HSV color space is proposed. Experimental results prove that the proposed method produces better fusion results.

A Review on Grid-Connected PV System

The concept of injecting photovoltaic power into the utility grid has earned widespread acceptance in these days of renewable energy generation & distribution. Grid-connected inverters have evolved significantly with high diversity. Efficiency, size, weight, reliability etc. have all improved significantly with the development of modern and innovative inverter configurations and these factors have influenced the cost of producing inverters.

This paper presents a literature review of the recent technological developments and trends in the Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems (GCPVS). In countries with high penetration of Distributed Generation (DG) resources, GCPVS have been shown to cause unwanted stress on the electrical grid. A review of the existing and future standards that addresses the technical challenges associated with the growing number of GCPVS is presented.

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), Solar Tracking (ST) and the use of transform-less inverters can all lead to high efficiency gains of Photovoltaic (PV) systems while ensuring minimal interference with the grid. Inverters that support ancillary services like reactive power control, frequency regulation and energy storage are critical for mitigating the challenges caused by the growing adoption of GCPVS.

Power Quality Improvement in Grid Connected PV System

The general trends in the past decade of increasing solar cell efficiency, decreasing PV system costs, increasing government incentive programs, and several other factors have all combined synergistically to reduce the barriers of entry for PV systems to enter the market and expand their contribution to the global energy portfolio. The shortcomings of current inverter functions which link PV systems to the utility network are becoming transparent as PV penetration levels continue to increase.

In this paper an analysis of solar system connected with the grid has been done. The system is subjected with two types of perturbations, i.e. variable load and the variable irradiance level which changes the output of the solar system. The design, modeling, and analysis of a grid-tied PV system are performed in the MATLAB software simulation environment. Solar cell works on the principle of photo voltaic effect, which has nonlinear voltage and current characteristics.

These characteristics are improved with the help of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. MPPT controller helps to feed the inverter with maximum power from the solar system. Results indicate that in the presence of grid disturbances the inverter can react dynamically to help restore the power system back to its normal state. A harmonic analysis was also performed indicating the inverter under study met the applicable power quality standards for distributed energy resources

Mechanical Properties of Self Compacting Concrete with Partial Replacement of Rice Husk Ash

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is relatively a recent development in the construction world. SCC is defined basically by two properties: Deformability and segregation resistance. It flows under its own weight while remaining homogeneous in composition. This research is aimed at examining the feasibility of using Rice Husk Ash as supplementary cementations material. In this research, the main variables are the proportion of rice husk ash (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%) and cement content.

All the results were in range as per code specified. Mix 20RHA showed minimum workability.. The increase of about 25% strength at 7 days, 33% strength at 28days and 36% strength at 56 days were observed with increase of RHA content from control mix (0RHA) to 15RHA. Maximum splitting tensile strength was also obtained bythe mix 15RHA. Greatest increase in mechanical properties was observed for the mix containing 15% rice husk ash.

The inclusion of rice husk ash as replacement of cement does not affect the strength properties negatively as the strength remains within limits up to 20%replacement. Inclusion of RHA showed great improvement in durability Properties of concrete.

Virtualization & Scheduling in Real Time OS: A Survey

Virtualization is the creation of a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as a hardware platform, operating system (OS), storage device, or network resources. In a virtualized environment, computing environments can be produced in a forceful dynamic manner, enlarged, become smaller or go in a specified direction or manner as demand varies. Virtualization is therefore highly suitable to a dynamic cloud infrastructure, because it provides important advantages in isolation, manageability and sharing.

A Review on Energy Storage Systems for Mitigation Power Fluctuations in Wind Turbine based Power System

Wind energy is in exhaustible renewable. Unlike conventional fossil fuels, wind energy is clean, abundant energy that will be available for future generations. However, wind speed is a highly stochastic component which can deviate very quickly. Output power of the wind energy conversion system (WECS) is proportional to the cube of wind speed, which causes the output power fluctuation of the wind turbine. The power fluctuation causes frequency fluctuation and voltage flicker inside the power grid. In order to reduce the power fluctuation, various approaches have been proposed in the last decades.

This article deals with the review of several power smoothing strategies for the WECS. Power smoothing methods of the WECS are primarily separated in to two categories such as energy storage based power smoothing method and without energy storage based power smoothing method. The main objectives of this paper are to introduce operating principles for different power smoothing methods

Different Technologies and Components of Renewable Energy Sources based Power System: A Review

Variability and intermittency are some of the main features that characterize renewable energy sources. Intermittency usually includes both predictable and unpredictable variations. The many drawbacks of intermittency of renewable sources can be overcome by considering some special design considerations. Integrating more than one renewable energy source and including backup sources and storage systems are among the few measures to overcome these drawbacks. These additional design considerations usually increase the overall cost of the renewable system.

Furthermore, the presence of more than one energy supply/storage system requires the control of energy flow among the various sources. Therefore, optimizing the size of the components and adopting an energy management strategy are essential to decreasing the cost of the system and limiting its negative effects. The energy management strategy is commonly integrated with optimization to ensure the continuity of load supply and to decrease the cost of energy production. Therefore, energy management is a term that collects all the systematic procedures to control and minimize the quantity and the cost of energy used to provide a certain application with its requirements.

The energy management strategy usually depends on the type of energy system and its components. Various approaches and techniques have been used to develop a successful energy management strategy. In this paper, a comprehensive review of the different combinations and approaches proposed and used by authors of many papers are conducted. These approaches include both the standalone hybrid renewable energy systems and the grid-connected hybrid renewable systems. The selected papers in this review cover the various configurations of the hybrid renewable energy systems for electric power generation only.

Power Quality Improvement in Solar-Wind based Power System using BESS

As solar photovoltaic and wind based power generation becomes more commonplace, the inherent intermittency of the solar and wind resource poses one of the great challenges to those who would design and implement the next generation smart grid. Speci?cally, grid-tied solar power generation is a distributed resource whose output can change extremely rapidly, resulting in many issues for the distribution system operator with a large quantity of installed photovoltaic devices. Battery energy storage systems are increasingly being used to help integrate solar and wind power into the grid.

These systems are capable of absorbing and delivering both real and reactive power with sub-second response times. With these capabilities, battery energy storage systems can mitigate such issues with solar-wind power generation as ramp rate, frequency, and voltage issues. Beyond these applications focusing on system stability, energy storage control systems can also be integrated with energy markets to make the solar and wind resource more economical. Providing a high-level introduction to this application area, this paper presents an overview of the challenges of integrating solar and wind power to the electricity distribution system. In this paper a solar-wind based power system model is made.

To smoothen the intermittency of the solar and wind resources a battery energy storage system (BESS) is employed. The battery energy storage system stores the energy when excess power is available and releases the stored energy when demand is higher than the supply. A PI controller based control scheme is implemented for this purpose and an MPPT is used for wind turbine to extract the maximum power from the wind resource. The validity of the control scheme is checked through the MATLAB simulation of the solar-wind based power system.

Combined Effect of Marble Dust and Steel Fiber on the Mechanical Properties of High Strength Concretes

Present day construction cost is at its height with using basic materials like cement, coarse aggregates and fine aggregates. Leaving waste materials to nature specifically can bring about environmental issues. Therefore, reuse of waste materials has been emphasized. Industries produce lots of waste materials, which might be helpful in partial replacement of basic materials due to their composition and it can be proved economical.

The concrete industry is always searching for supplementary material with the target of decreasing the solid waste disposal issue. As we know concrete is weak in tension so, to overcome this, steel fibers has been used. There are few reuse and recycling solutions for this industrial by-product, both in experimental phase and have useful applications. These mechanical wastes are dumped in the close-by areas and natural fruitfulness of the soil is ruined.

The physical, mechanical & chemical properties of wastes are discussed. In this study, marble powder has replaced sand, the whole research is carried out on M60 grade concrete with partly replacing sand by 0%, 15%, 30%, 45%, and 60% of marble dust, with the addition of steel fibers at ratio 0.8% by volume so as to get greatest compressive strength, flexural strength and furthermore split tensile strength.

Based upon the feasibility interpretation it is observed that replacing up to 45% marble powder and 0.8% of steel fibers in concrete is appropriate in conformance with the requirement. The compressive strength and the spilt tensile increased up to 15% replacement, after that they started decreasing.

A Review Study on Preventing and Detecting Technique of Black Hole Attack in MANET

There are basically two types of black hole attack i.e. internal black hole and External black hole attack. Black hole is a malicious node that wrongly replies for some route requests without having active route to particular destination and drop all the getting packets. If these malicious nodes work jointly as a collection then the damage will be very risky. This type of attack is called cooperative black hole attack. Black hole attack is a type of active attack. Black hole attack can arise when the malicious node on the path attack the data transfer and purposely drop, delay or change the data transfer passing through it. Black hole node treats itself as a trusted node.

This is review study on Black hole node send false routing information, claim that it has a best route and cause additional good nodes to route data packets through the black hole node.

Techno-Economic and Environmental Analysis of Wind-Diesel Power System

This paper discusses the economic analysis and environmental impacts of integrating a photovoltaic (PV) array into diesel-electric power systems for remote villages. MATLAB Simulink is used to match the load with the demand and apportion the electrical production between the PV and diesel-electric generator. The economic part of the model calculates the fuel consumed, the kilo watt hours obtained per gallon of fuel supplied, and the total cost of fuel. The environmental part of the model calculates the particulate matter (PM), NOx and CO2 emitted to the atmosphere.

Simulations were performed for three cases: 1) diesel only; 2) diesel-battery; and 3) PV with diesel-battery using a one-year time period. The simulation results were utilized to calculate the energy payback, the simple payback time for the PV module, and the avoided costs of CO2, NOx, and PM

Different Configurations and Technologies in PV-Wind based Hybrid Power System

The wind and solar energy are omnipresent, freely available, and environmental friendly. The wind energy systems may not be technically viable at all sites because of low wind speeds and being more unpredictable than solar energy. The combined utilization of these renewable energy sources are therefore becoming increasingly attractive and are being widely used as alternative of oil-produced energy. Economic aspects of these renewable energy technologies are sufficiently promising to include them for rising power generation capability in developing countries.

A renewable hybrid energy system consists of two or more energy sources, a power conditioning equipment, a controller and an optional energy storage system. Research and development efforts in solar, wind, and other renewable energy technologies are required to continue for, improving their performance, establishing techniques for accurately predicting their output and reliably integrating them with other conventional generating sources.

The aim of this paper is to review the current state of the design, operation and control requirement of the hybrid energy base power systems with conventional backup source i.e. diesel or grid. This Paper also highlights the future developments, which have the potential to increase the economic attractiveness of such systems and their acceptance by the user

Analysis the Effect of Steel Fibre and Marble Dust with Strength of Pavement Quality Concrete

The thrust nowadays is to produce thinner and green pavement sections of better quality, which can carry the heavy loads. The high strength steel fibre reinforced concrete is a concrete having compressive strength greater than 40MPa, made of hydraulic cements and containing fine and coarse aggregates; and discontinuous, unconnected, randomly distributed steel fibres. The present study aims at, developing pavement quality concrete mixtures incorporating marble dust as partial replacement of cement as well as steel fibres.

The aim is to the design of slab thickness of PQC pavement using the achieved flexural strength of the concrete mixtures. In this study, the flexural, compressive and split tensile strength for pavement quality concrete mixtures for different percentage of steel fibres and replacement of cement with marble dust are reported. It is found out the maximum increase in flexure strength, compressive strength and split tensile strength is for 0% Marble Dust and 1% Steel fibre.

Also it has been possible to achieve savings in cement by replacing it with marble dust and adding fibres. This study also shows that in view of the high flexural strength, high values of compressive strength and high values of split tensile strength, higher load carrying capacity and higher life expectancy, the combination of 10 to 20% marble dust replacement along with addition of 0.5 to 1% steel fibres is ideal for design of Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC).

Suppression of frequency fluctuations in Hybrid Power System using Pitch-Angle Controller

This study presents the modelling and dynamic simulation of a high penetration wind diesel power system (WDPS) consisting of a diesel generator (DG) and a wind turbine generator (WTG). First the WDPS architecture and the models of the WDPS components are described. The WDPS is simulated in wind-only (WO) mode where the DG is not running and the WTG supply active power and in wind-diesel (WD) mode where both DG and WTG supply power. The simulation results are given showing graphs of the main electric variables in the WDPS (system frequency and voltage and active power in each component).

Pitch angle controller is proposed which enables the wind turbine to regulate its active power in order to retain the frequency within prescribed limits. The pitch angle control enables the WT to smooth the load and wind power variations, so that the isolated system power quality is improved. The results shows that the WDPS incorporating pitch angle controller gives better results in terms of frequency regulation.

Improved Clustering Technique in Marketing Sector

Cluster analysis divides data into meaningful or useful groups (clusters). One of the most important problems in modern finance is finding efficient ways to summarize and visualize the stock market data to give individuals or institutions useful information about the market behaviour for investment decisions. Clustering techniques that are being used in Data Mining is presented. Data mining adds to clustering the complications of very large datasets with very many attributes of different types. This imposes unique computational requirements on relevant clustering algorithms with k-means method is one of the clustering techniques.

Data mining facilitates marketing sector by classifying customer demographic that can be used to predict which customer will respond to a mailing or buy a particular product and it is very much helpful in growth of business. K means method proposed that will improved in marketing sector and also discuss how to support clustering technique in marketing sector. Experimental results show difference between clustered and non clustered data of marketing product that represent in graphically and theoretically. These results help customer to choose the products and also it saves the time.

Efficient Way to Identify User Aware Rare Sequential Patterns in Document Streams

Documents created and distributed on the Internet are ever changing in various forms. Most of existing works are devoted to topic modeling and the evolution of individual topics, while sequential relations of topics in successive documents published by a specific user are ignored. In order to characterize and detect personalized and abnormal behaviors of Internet users, we propose Sequential Topic Patterns (STPs) and formulate the problem of mining Useraware Rare Sequential Topic Patterns (URSTPs) in document streams on the Internet. They are rare on the whole but relatively frequent for specific users, so can be applied in many real-life scenarios, such as real-time monitoring on abnormal user behaviors.

Here present solutions to solve this innovative mining problem through three phases: pre-processing to extract probabilistic topics and identify sessions for different users, generating all the STP candidates with (expected) support values for each user by patterngrowth, and selecting URSTPs by making user-aware rarity analysis on derived STPs. Experiments on both real (Twitter) and synthetic datasets show that our approach can indeed discover special users and interpretable URSTPs effectively and efficiently, which significantly reflect users' characteristics.

Parametric Study Of Multisoried R.C.C. Flat Slab Structure Under Seismic Effect Having Different Plan Aspect Ratio And Slenderness Ratio

Flat-slab building structures possesses major advantages over traditional slab-beam-column structures because of the free design of space, shorter construction time, architectural '“functional and economical aspects. Because of the absence of deep beams and shear walls, flat-slab structural system is significantly more flexible for lateral loads then traditional RC frame system and that make the system more vulnerable under seismic events. The critical moment in design of these systems is the slab-column connection, i.e., the shear force in the slab at the connection, which should retain its bearing capacity even at maximal displacements. The behavior of flat slab building during earthquake depends critically on '˜Building Configuration'.

This fact has resulted in to ensure safety against earthquake forces of tall structures hence, there is need to determine seismic responses of such building for designing earthquake resistant structures. Response Spectrum analysis is one of the important techniques for structural seismic analysis. In the present work dynamic analysis of 15 models of multi-storied RCC Flat slab structure is carried out by response spectrum analysis. The BIS guideline in IS 1893:2002 {Clause 7.1} says 'Å“Regular and Irregular Configuration to perform well in an earthquake, a building should possess four main attributes, namely simple and regular configuration, and adequate lateral strength, stiffness and ductility.

Buildings having simple regular geometry and uniformly distributed mass and stiffness in plan as well as in elevation, suffer much less damage than buildings with irregular configurations'. Similarly in IS 4326:1993 {Clause 4.4.1} it is mentioned that 'Å“The building should have a simple rectangular plan and be symmetrical both with respect to mass and rigidity so that the center of mass and rigidity of the building coincide with each other.' But the limiting 'Å“plan aspect ratio' and 'Å“Slenderness ratio' for the regular structure is not prescribed. This study is concerned with the behavior of structure having same plan area but different plan aspect ratio (L/B) and slenderness ratio (H/B) under seismic condition. The structures are simulated in ETABS 13 software and analyzed using Response Spectrum method.

An Experimental Study on Modification of Dense Graded Bituminous Mix Design

Various problems on the roads have been frequently observed on flexible pavements like: potholes, rutting, shoving etc. In hot and developing countries like India, roads are affected by severed problems mentioned above, due to the water presence in the pavement, heavy traffic load, excessive no. of vehicles. Literature review lightens up on solution of these problems by modification of bitumen. To lighten this process, several measures may be effective, such as, use of better quality materials like waste plastic, motor oil, crumb rubber.

This study proposes the utilization of waste materials i.e. waste plastic, crumb rubber and motor oil and check their suitability to mitigate theses defects of cracking, rutting, pothole etc. Marshal stability method is chosen to determine the stability and flow value for bitumen mix design. Individual effects of polythene, crumb rubber and motor oil is analysed first by varying the percentage of same with optimum bitumen content.

And comprehensive effect of these three material has been also observed and discussed by plotting the graphs and it is found that Bitumen (5.5 %), Crumb Rubber (8%), Waste Plastic (6%) and Motor Oil (2%) gives highest stability and other properties values within the range given in MORTH. It is expected that this study would be useful to researchers and consultancies to construct the roads economically and long lasting servicing.

Design Pattern Classifiers under Attack for Security Evaluation using Multimodal System

Pattern classification is a branch of machine learning that focuses on recognition of patterns and regularities in data. This Pattern classification system are commonly used in adversarial applications, like biometric authentication, network intrusion detection, and spam filtering, in which data can be purposely manipulated by humans to undermine their operation. As this adversarial scenario is not taken into account by classical design methods, pattern classification systems may exhibit vulnerabilities, whose exploitation may severely affect their performance, and consequently limit their practical utility.

Extending pattern classification theory and design methods to adversarial settings. Here, propose a framework for empirical evaluation of classifier security that formalizes and generalizes the main ideas proposed in the literature, and give examples of its use in real applications. Reported results show that security evaluation can provide a more complete understanding of the classifier's behaviour in adversarial environments, and lead to better design choices. This framework can be applied to different classifiers on one of the application from the spam filtering, biometric authentication and network intrusion detection.

So in this propose an algorithm for the generation of training and testing sets to be used for security evaluation. Now result shows providing security to system using application as blogger for this applying spam filtering, biometric authentication methods. That shows pattern classification for detecting spam comments which easy to detect spam.

A Review of Friction Stirs Welding

Through this paper an attempt is made to study and review a special welding technology of friction stir welding (FSW) which is a solid-state joining process. Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a recent advanced technique, invented by The Welding Institute (TWI) in 1991, that utilizes a nonconsumable rotating welding tool to generate frictional heat and plastic deformation at the welding location; thereby, affecting the formation of a joint while the material is in the solid state. In particular, FSW can be used to join high-strength aerospace aluminum alloys and other high temperature metallic alloys that are difficult to weld by conventional fusion welding method.

FSW is considered to be the most significant development in metal joining process in a decade The comprehensive body of knowledge that has built up with respect to the friction stir welding (FSW) of aluminum alloys. This study addresses the current state of understanding and development of the FSW process. The principles of weld formation, welding parameters, design principles, including metal flow and thermal history, before discussing how process parameters affect the weld properties
