IoT Based Intelligent Management System for Agricultural Application

The growth of technology in any sector is not there in agriculture and this is a problem for India. The government has struggled to do anything for the farming sector which is in an exceptionally deplorable state. The pause in decision making also has led to Indias high rate of unemployment owing to the quality of the economy. The applications in well developed countries involve robotics, aircraft, and artificial intelligence, but they can raise the cost of running and sustain. Currently, operating drones such as these is difficult. In India, only a few farmers can afford to employ such high tech machinery to farm owing to financial constraints. The project is aimed at developing an affordable quad copter for farmers to use on their crops, with the goal of growing their output. We are developing core a framework with support of Raspberry Pi and OpenCV that can help predict crops yield with the help of inputs from numerous different sensor packages.

Experimental Study of Waste Chicken Feather Fibre in Concrete

This work was carried out to investigate the possibilities of utilizing the natural chicken feather fibres CFF barbs and rachis in concrete at different volume fractions of 0.25 , 0.50 , 0.75 , 1.00 , 1.25 , 1.50 in cement concrete composite for the development of low cost and waste reusable building material in construction industry. CFF were sourced from poultry processing plants to reduce the solid waste problem Feather fibres disposal in open lands under environmental strategies. The various mechanical properties of compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength tests of modified chicken feather fibres concrete have been studied and the results are compared to the conventional concrete.

Design and Construction of a 0.75KVA Inverter Power Supply for Nigerian Homes and Offices

Over the years, there have been a gradual increase in the electricity generation capacity of Nigeria, with more gas power plants installed between 1999 2003 to augment power supply from the existing hydro and thermal power plants installed in the 1970s but despite gradual increase in Mega Watts MW of electric power generated, Nigerian electricity consumers continue to experience epileptic and unreliable power supply distribution. As at today, the power distribution companies referred to as the DISCOs supply epileptic or skeletal power to their customers which they termed 'load shading’. This term explains a situation whereby a power consumer or customer can obtain a power ration for some hours in the day and do not have power remaining hours in the day. Because of this, many consumers depend on generating sets as alternative source of power. This is inefficient and costly to maintain. Today it is possible to introduce the electric power inverter which converts battery DC voltage to AC voltage. Inside the inverter can be coupled an electric charging system which can charge the battery when there is power supply from utility power source. When this power source fails, the battery in turn supplies the inverter with DC which is being converted to A.C sometimes the inverter can also be connected to renewable energy source like solar, wind etc. These sources ensures an all round supply of DC for the inverter. Renewable energy can be particularly suitable for developing countries such as Nigeria where public power supply is totally unreliable. In response to the yearning of the majority of Nigerians for a steady power supply, this research paper tries to contribute in a little way by designing and constructing a 0.75KVA inverter to power homes and offices. The paper starts by defining what an inverter is, reviewed similar past works in literature, and it explained the principles of operation and components used with its circuit diagram. The completed work was tested and met its design specifications.

Thermo Hydraulic Performance of a Curved Solar Air Heater with Different Shaped down Turbulators using CFD

In contrast to the flat plate SAH design, curved designs of solar air heater ducts show substantial improvement in thermal characteristics, with the former showing a slight decrease in hydraulic efficiency. The creation of secondary vortices resulting in the mixing flow is demonstrated by curved SAH due to the centrifugal effect. In addition, the creation of dean vortices increases the rate of heat transfer in curved SAH. In flat plate SAH, these results are absent. In this present work, a three dimensional CFD analysis was carried out in a Curved duct of a solar air heater with a upper roughened wall with down configuration ribs having shape of half triangular, full triangular, and semi circular to investigate the heat transfer and flow behavior. The simulation programme ANSYS 17.0 was used for study of the heat transfer physiognomies of a curved duct of a solar air heater. The curved solar air heater with triangular rib roughness on the absorber plate has been found to yield improved results relative to the half triangular and semi circular rib and can thus be used to increase the heat transfer. The maximum enhancement in Nusselt number is found to be in triangular shaped ribs, which is 1.112 times that of half triangular corresponding to at a Reynolds number of 15,000 for the investigated range of parameters.

Artificial Intelligence in Gaming

Artificial intelligence AI is the intelligence exhibited by an artificial entity, generally assumed to be a computer. It has been involved with gaming since day one. It is progressively being widely used in the gaming industry. AI in games is commonly used for creating players opponents. It is the foundation of all video games. Games like Nim, checkers, or chess took advantage of smart algorithms to beat human players. AI based games are based on a finite set of actions or reactions whose sequence can be easily predicted by expert players. This paper provides an introduction on the applications of AI in different games.

Artificial Intelligence in Autonomous Vehicles

An autonomous vehicle is one that uses a combination of sensors, cameras, radar, and artificial intelligence AI to travel between destinations without a human operator. It is designed to be able to detect objects on the road, maneuver through the traffic without human intervention, and get to the destination safely. It is fitted with AI based functional systems such as voice and speech recognition, gesture controls, eye tracking, and other driving monitoring systems. Several companies have announced their plan to get involved in autonomous or driverless and electric vehicle technology. This paper presents uses of AI technology in autonomous vehicles.
