Design and Construction of a 0.75KVA Inverter Power Supply for Nigerian Homes and Offices

Over the years, there have been a gradual increase in the electricity generation capacity of Nigeria, with more gas power plants installed between 1999 2003 to augment power supply from the existing hydro and thermal power plants installed in the 1970s but despite gradual increase in Mega Watts MW of electric power generated, Nigerian electricity consumers continue to experience epileptic and unreliable power supply distribution. As at today, the power distribution companies referred to as the DISCOs supply epileptic or skeletal power to their customers which they termed 'load shading’. This term explains a situation whereby a power consumer or customer can obtain a power ration for some hours in the day and do not have power remaining hours in the day. Because of this, many consumers depend on generating sets as alternative source of power. This is inefficient and costly to maintain. Today it is possible to introduce the electric power inverter which converts battery DC voltage to AC voltage. Inside the inverter can be coupled an electric charging system which can charge the battery when there is power supply from utility power source. When this power source fails, the battery in turn supplies the inverter with DC which is being converted to A.C sometimes the inverter can also be connected to renewable energy source like solar, wind etc. These sources ensures an all round supply of DC for the inverter. Renewable energy can be particularly suitable for developing countries such as Nigeria where public power supply is totally unreliable. In response to the yearning of the majority of Nigerians for a steady power supply, this research paper tries to contribute in a little way by designing and constructing a 0.75KVA inverter to power homes and offices. The paper starts by defining what an inverter is, reviewed similar past works in literature, and it explained the principles of operation and components used with its circuit diagram. The completed work was tested and met its design specifications.

Thermo Hydraulic Performance of a Curved Solar Air Heater with Different Shaped down Turbulators using CFD

In contrast to the flat plate SAH design, curved designs of solar air heater ducts show substantial improvement in thermal characteristics, with the former showing a slight decrease in hydraulic efficiency. The creation of secondary vortices resulting in the mixing flow is demonstrated by curved SAH due to the centrifugal effect. In addition, the creation of dean vortices increases the rate of heat transfer in curved SAH. In flat plate SAH, these results are absent. In this present work, a three dimensional CFD analysis was carried out in a Curved duct of a solar air heater with a upper roughened wall with down configuration ribs having shape of half triangular, full triangular, and semi circular to investigate the heat transfer and flow behavior. The simulation programme ANSYS 17.0 was used for study of the heat transfer physiognomies of a curved duct of a solar air heater. The curved solar air heater with triangular rib roughness on the absorber plate has been found to yield improved results relative to the half triangular and semi circular rib and can thus be used to increase the heat transfer. The maximum enhancement in Nusselt number is found to be in triangular shaped ribs, which is 1.112 times that of half triangular corresponding to at a Reynolds number of 15,000 for the investigated range of parameters.

Artificial Intelligence in Gaming

Artificial intelligence AI is the intelligence exhibited by an artificial entity, generally assumed to be a computer. It has been involved with gaming since day one. It is progressively being widely used in the gaming industry. AI in games is commonly used for creating players opponents. It is the foundation of all video games. Games like Nim, checkers, or chess took advantage of smart algorithms to beat human players. AI based games are based on a finite set of actions or reactions whose sequence can be easily predicted by expert players. This paper provides an introduction on the applications of AI in different games.

Artificial Intelligence in Autonomous Vehicles

An autonomous vehicle is one that uses a combination of sensors, cameras, radar, and artificial intelligence AI to travel between destinations without a human operator. It is designed to be able to detect objects on the road, maneuver through the traffic without human intervention, and get to the destination safely. It is fitted with AI based functional systems such as voice and speech recognition, gesture controls, eye tracking, and other driving monitoring systems. Several companies have announced their plan to get involved in autonomous or driverless and electric vehicle technology. This paper presents uses of AI technology in autonomous vehicles.

Examination of Performance of Seismically Isolated and Non Isolated RC Structure using Lead Elastic Bearing Isolators

In Reinforced Cement Concrete structures lateral loads are first which will grow proportionally with growth in floor height of the structure as a result of which lateral loads more effective in the top story in contrast to the bottom story due to which the structures are likely to react as cantilever and that forces develop high stresses, produce sway movement leads to serious damages and hence at last results in failure of the structure. Each of these causes form the study of the effect of lateral loads very dominant. Column is the most critical member in the building subjected to earthquake loading because failure of a column can affect the stability of the whole building. Column may fails due to lack of ductility, strength and weak beam column joint. A model of a 14 storey structure is made on ETABS Software and analysis of reinforced concrete framed structure under earthquake excitation has been carried using the linear static analysis methods as per the guidelines provided in IS1893 2016 codes to simulate seismic analysis. In order to study the effect seismic force on LRB system zone II of India a multi storey hotel building of G 13 of Square and L Shape configuration is taken in zone II with and without having a lead rubber bearing LRB at its base is analyses using linear static method. Supports has been removed at base and assigned as spring and different parameters like storey displacement, storey drift, base shear, and storey shear for all cases are evaluated and presented in the form of charts Based on results and comparing the parameters of different cases namely Asymmetric and Symmetric buildings with and without base isolation the conclusion can be made that Base isolation is very effective in reducing the storey drift in Symmetrical building and Asymmetrical building. For Asymmetrical building the base shear in X direction is reduced after the implementation of LRB system and in Y direction the same is reduced.

A Comprehensive Study on Social Network Mental Disorders Detection

The explosive development in prominence of social networking prompts the problematic usage. An expanding number of social network mental scatters SNMDs, for example, Cyber Relationship Addiction, Information Overload, and Net Compulsion, have been as of late noted. Side effects of this psychological issue are typically watched inactively today, bringing about deferred clinical mediation. In this work, we contend that mining on the web social conduct gives a chance to effectively distinguish SNMDs at a beginning time. It is trying to identify SNMDs in light of the fact that the psychological status cant be straightforwardly seen from online social action logs. Our methodology, new and inventive to the act of SNMD location, doesnt depend on self uncovering of those psychological variables by means of surveys in Psychology. Rather, we propose an AI structure, in particular, Social Network Mental Disorder Detection SNMDD that endeavors highlights removed from social network information to precisely recognize potential instances of SNMDs. We likewise abuse multi source learning in SNMDD and propose another SNMD based Tensor Model STM to improve the exactness. To build the versatility of STM, we further improve the effectiveness with execution ensure.
