Thermal Analysis of Engine Block

Several automobile industries are working on it to maintain a proper temperature for increasing the efficiency and also to prevent the engine from thermal damage. So it become important to analyse fins structure for better heat transfer rate. High temperature on the surface of engine block effect the efficiency of engine. Increasing number of fins is not only the criteria to increase the heat dissipation from the surface of fins. Generally, rectangular fins are used in motor bike engine, although the temperature at the surface is in safe limit. By introducing new geometry of fin and if the minimum temperature of new geometry is less than or near about the minimum temperature of rectangular fin is not only help in increasing the efficiency of engine block but also it may help in reducing the weight of engine block. Convective heat transfer is the mechanism of heat transfer and it depends on convective heat transfer coefficient and Contact surface area with air. Fins are surfaces that extend from an object to increase the rate of heat transfer to or from the environment by increasing convection. And the analysis is done by numerical method and on Solid Works software.

An Experimental Study on Bituminous Mix Design using Different Percentage of Crumb Rubber to Improve the Strength of Pavement

roduction of rubber bitumen by blending of bitumen with crumb rubber from crumb tires is not just a waste treating method, but a possible solution for improving the durability of asphalt pavements compared to roads made of conventional bitumen. The following advantages are usually emphasised improved durability, longer life time, lower life cycle maintenance cost, increased permanent deformation resistance, traffic noise reduction effect. MOL together with University of Pannonia developed a new, patented production method HU226481 , which is capable to produce chemically stabilised rubber bitumen CSRB . Asphalt tests have proved that the performance of CSRB is comparable to high quality polymer modified bitumen. Experience attracts attention to the fact that appearance of a binder of such quality is required in the future since it significantly supports sustainability and quality of road network. In 2010 MOL won a HuF 128 million research grant, partly supported by the EU and Hun gary. Main parts of the supported project are • Implementation of new technology in Zala Refinery prototype plant • RandD work for finalisation of technology • Test road construction and evaluation of the road quality • Marketing support of product sales. Solid waste management has gained a lot of attention to the research community now a days. Out of the various solid waste, accumulated waste tires, has become a problem of interest because of its non biodegradable nature. Road network is important to the economic development, social integration and trade of a country. Inadequate transportation facilities could have an effect on socio economic and cultural development of a country. Stone Matrix Asphalt having good stability, strength and maintenance of the smooth surface of the road and other structures. Stone Matrix Asphalt mix is prepared by blending of course and fine aggregates. Study on road in india indicated increased the volume of traffic as a result huge development of road is required. The SMA mixture is used to restrain the distresses and provide better durability in the bituminous pavements. Aggregate gradation was taken as per MORTH specification for SMA mix. Study resulted that optimum bitumen content for samples prepared by mix of 5 crumb rubber Tyre waste . Mixing of crumb rubber with 5 waste in SMA mix was observed cost effective and economical. Here maximum stability obtained is 13.86 Kn This value as compared to other fibers is a little higher. Study of test result resulted higher stability, strength and durability of roads.

Bio Organic Concotions Influenced Single Bud Set Sugarcaneas Planting Materials

The scenario nowadays in sugarcane production was the high cost of using multiples nodes cutting as planting materials. A study of single bud set was conducted to determine the performance of single buds as planting materials as influenced by the application of Bio organic concoctions. It was carried out in completely randomized design CRD with six treatments and the differences of treatments was analyze using Analysis of Variance ANOVA followed by Tukey’s HSD Test to determine the treatment effect. The applications of Bio organic concoctions significantly influence the single bud set sugarcane in terms of height cm , number of leaves, and number of lateral sprouts emerged. Lactic acid bacteria serums LABS alone significantly higher on plant height cm and number of leaves. Moreover, Bio organic concoctions did not influence the number of emerged lateral sprouts in 35 and 42 days after planting, However, single bud set treated with LABS and Vermitea produced a higher number of lateral sprouts.

Using Design of Experiments Approach to analysis Factors Effecting on the PV Cells

Many factors affect the performance of a PV module. In this experiment, we will use the factorial experimental design method to investigate these factors. Several factors are studied in this experiment such as phase change martial type, PCM thickness, fin length thickness, fin count and the wind speed. A factorial design is often used by scientists wishing to understand the effect of two or more independent variables upon a single dependent variable so applying factorial design in PV parameters will give us the most significant parameter on the temperature of the cells. The statistical results showed that the most significant factors affected on the temperature of the cells are PCM thickness and wind speed.

Improvement in Productivity by Lean Approach Method in Amararaja Industries

To survive in the market, the goal of any manufacturing industry is to produce goods at the lowest time and lowest cost possible. To attain this lean approach improves productivity systems by manufacturing without wastes. The purpose of this project work is to improve production system in assembly section and finishing section at the Amara raja batteries, Tirupathi. In the finishing section the cycle time is reduced from 103 sec to 68 sec and production rates is increased from 245 skids shift to 371 skids shift. The fatigue of workers also reduced by adapting belt conveyor system.

Expermential Investagation and Analysis of Bitumen Modifaction Using Fly Ash

The increase of crude oil prices in recent years resulted in an increase in bitumen prices as crude oil is origin for bitumen, asphalt and in other hand the fly ash from the power generating plants causes severe disposal problems. The main purpose of this project is to study the possibility of using fly ash as mineral filler in Bituminous paving mixes. Fly ash, a coal combustion product once treated as waste and disposed in landfills, is used today in substructure and road works. The research of fly ash properties may solve the problems of treatment and intelligent use of this residual material. This Marshall stability test is employed to determine the properties like stability, flow value, air voids, voids in mineral aggregate VMA , voids filled with bitumen VFB for a Dense Bituminous Macadam DBM mix. The experimental work is carried out by using specifications from MORTH Ministry of road transports and highways, specifications for road and bridge works,5th revision .By replacing the stone dust with fly ash at the levels 4 , 6 and 18 the results are compared. The variation of properties, optimum bitumen and fly ash contents are evaluated. It is observed that the mixes with fly ash as filler not differ much in properties when compared with control mix and satisfy desired criteria specified by a much higher margin. Hence, it has been recommended to utilize fly ash wherever available, not only reducing the cost of execution, but also partly solve the fly ash utilization and disposal problems.

A Review on Fire Impacts on Concrete Structures

Concrete has been used as a construction material due to its versatile behaviour. It exhibits a high degree of fire resistance. The characteristic ability of concrete structures to combat one of the most devastating catastrophes can be attributed to its constituent materials which make it passive and have relatively poor thermal conductivity. However, concrete structures must be designed for fire outbreaks. The properties of concrete must be balanced against concerns about its fire resistance and susceptibility to spalling at elevated temperatures. In this paper, the causes, effects and some remedies of deterioration in concrete due to fire hazard will be presented. Also, some economical solutions to produce fire resistant concrete will be discussed.
