Behaviour of Lustrous Carbon Additives in Green Sand Casting

The advent of High Volume, High Density and High Pressure Moulding Lines has changed the logistics of Molding Techniques and selection of additives significantly. Having 4 main ingredients, Base Sand, Bentonite, Lustrous Carbon Additives and Water, the properties of the Sand Mold resulting from this simple mixture to deliver target casting quality is complexly variable. Sand Control is an Art' as any foundry man will willingly emphasize. It is well accepted that no two foundry sand systems are the same. Even a single foundry Unit or foundry group having two or more molding lines, along with separate Sand preparation lines, whether in the same campus or in different locations, sand preparation and sand parameters will normally differ in each sand loop The role of quality in additives has therefore become even more important than when one could feel' the sand and make changes accordingly. Now, additives and ingredients have to be engineered precisely for the application with assured reproducibility in chemistry, grain fineness and other parameters.

Power Quality Enhancement using DSTATCOM by Immune Feedback Control Algorithm

This paper proposes an immune feedback control algorithm for a three phase distribution static compensator DSTATCOM to mitigate several power quality problems such as harmonics, reactive power, and load unbalancing at distribution level. This control algorithm proposed for DSTATCOM, is validated for maintaining power factor to unity, load balancing, and harmonics reduction of supply currents. In this application, the proposed control algo rithm on a DSTATCOM is implemented for the compensation of nonlinear loads. The simulations were performed in the environment of MATLAB SIMULINK.

Simulation of Optimal Control Strategy for a Solar Photovoltaic Power System

This paper proposes a single stage PV system based on a linear quadratic regulator LQR . The system makes use of a single phase power converter connected to the grid connected system through an LCL filter. The PandO algorithm is used to generate the reference signal for the fluctuating dc bus voltage as well as to extract the maximum power from the solar panels. The proposed work has been carried out in MATLAB, and the results are presented.

Implementing Secured and Comport Transportation using Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network for Realistic City Scenario

VANET is the largest wireless communications research area. VANETs of rapidly moving vehicles can be inefficient or unreliable. With the passing of time, VANET technology advances via inter vehicle interaction, but many problems need to be resolved in order to strengthen the network. This paper simulates road traffic simulators in a way that ensures safe communication between different types vehicles and prevents traffic based congestion in the cities of India.

Analysis of Characteristics Behaviour use of Locally Materials in Highway Subgrade

Concrete is strong in compression but weak in tension and brittle also. Cracks also start forming as soon as the concrete is placed. These above said drawbacks don't permit the use of normal concrete in pavements as they lead to a lack of ductility along with fracture and failure. These weaknesses in concrete can be mitigated by using fibers as reinforcement in the concrete mix. Waste materials in the form of polyethylene and tires cause environmental pollution which leads to various health problems. Polyethylene and waste tires can be reused and used efficiently in the concrete as reinforcement in the fiber form. Polyethylene is a synthetic hydrocarbon polymer which can improve the ductility, strength, shrinkage characteristics. This study deals with the effects of addition of polyethylene fiber on the properties of concrete. In this study, Polyethylene and

tire fibers were cut into the size of 25mm x 8mm and they were used 1.5 each by volume. Grades of concrete used were M 30, M 35 and M 40. IRC 44 2008 was followed for the design of concrete mix. In this study, the results of the strength properties of Polyethylene fiber reinforced concrete have been presented. Four point bending and double shear test were performed in the laboratory for flexure and shear strength determinations. There was seen an increase of 18 in the 28 day compressive strength along with an increase of 39 in flexure Strenght and 32 in shear strength. It is also found that 22 reduction in the four point bending test and 36 reduction in deflection by double shear tests were initiated out from the experiments. Theoretical analysis of deflection was carried out with the help of energy methods. Practical values were verified with the theoretical values within the allowable limits. Finally, it is concluded that polyethylene and tire used efficiently in reinforced cement concrete.

Water Pollution Status of Mula-Mutha Rivers in Pune City: Review

Mula Mutha rivers in Pune Maharashtra, India are in highly insanitary and unhealthy conditions. It flows along a 22 km stretch through Pune city and is Maharashtra's second most polluted river of 2018, containing human and animal excreta three times more than the safe limit, according to Maharashtra Pollution Control Board MPCB . Despite riverfront development for Mula Mutha rivers by Pune Municipal Corporation PMC , domestic waste, untreated sewage and industrial effluents is dumped into the river. Waste is the potentially dangerous byproduct of a wide range of activities, including manufacturing, farming, water treatment systems, construction, automotive garages, laboratories, hospitals, and other industries. The waste may be liquid, solid, or sludge and contain chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, pathogens, or other materials source website 1 . The objective of this review work is to analyze the degree of pollution in a decade or more. This review study gives information of five parameters namely pH, DO, BOD, C
OD, hardness at three study locations for the years 2006, 2008, and 2017 respectively. The trend of water pollution is also depicted from tabular data and graphs, where the status of contaminated river water is discussed. Remedial measures are suggested to mitigate high pollution levels in river.
