Microcontroller Based Temperature Monitoring and Controlling System using XBee Network

Temperature controlling is one of the most important process variables in the process control. In this paper describes the design and implementation of a Wireless Sensor Networks WSN based on XBee technology to monitor the history and current temperature information of remote locations. In this work, the microcontroller is used to compute and compare the value of current temperature and the set point values. LCD is used to display the result data. This result data is also sent to the microcontroller where the operator controls the whole process. Then, the signal passes to the relays to On Off case of the fan for maintaining the correct temperature.

Structural Behaviors of Reinforced Concrete Dome with Shell System under Various Loading Conditions

There are many different systems constructing dome structure. Among them, the shell system is the most popular in reinforcement concrete structure in these days. Therefore, it is necessary to know the structural behaviours of it. The objectives of this journal is to study the structural behaviours of the reinforced concrete dome structure with shell system under gravity loading and lateral loading in cyclone wind categories and various seismic zones. Seismic loads are considered from zone 1 to zone 4 based on UBC 1997.Wind loads are considered from I to V category as cyclone categories. Structural elements of RC dome structure are designed according to Building Code of American Concrete Institute ACI 318 99. With these member forces obtained from the SAP 2000 analysis, the design for all structural members will be performed according to ACI 318 99. The members of dome structure are designed as an intermediate moment resisting frame. The design of the shell beams is verified by using hand calculations with the output forces under the gravity loading and lateral loading obtained from the SAP2000 analysis. Equivalent static analysis procedure is used in this study. Based on the comparison of analysis results, it can be observed where the maximum deflection occurs along the meridian direction under seismic and wind loading conditions. Then, the axial force of dome structure is significant than any other forces in shell system. From the study of analysis results of both systems, it has been noticed that the bottom ring in shell system is essential to control the forces from the shell area.

Accuracy Improvement of PM Measuring Instruments

The PM10 concentration in the underground areas should be monitored to protect the health of the commuters in the underground subway system. The purpose of this work is to study the reliability of the instruments using light scattering method to measure the PM10 concentrations continuously. A linear regression analysis method is used to improve the performance of the instruments using light scattering method. Some experimental results show that a linear regression technique would be very helpful for the performance improvement of light scattering instruments such as Air test PM2500 and HCT 4103.

Behavior of Concrete Using Copper Slag As A Strength Parameter in Low Cost Construction Work

The value of concrete in present society cannot be underestimated. We can see concrete structures everywhere, such as buildings, roads, bridges, and dams. There is no escaping the impact concrete makes on your everyday life. Concrete is a composite material which is made up of filler and a binder. Typical concrete is a mixture of fine aggregate sand, coarse aggregate rock, cement, and water. Cement and lime are usually used as binding materials, while the sand binder is mixed as fine aggregates and crushed stones, gravel, broken bricks clinker is employed as coarse aggregates. The concrete having cement, sand and coarse aggregates mix up in an appropriate percentage in addition to water is called cement concrete. In this kind of concrete, cement is used as a binding substance, sand as fine aggregates and gravel, crushed stones as coarse aggregates. An investigation relating to the use of byproducts to enhance the functions of concrete has been about for many years. In the recent years, the researchers have been made to use industry by products such as fly ash, silica fume, ground granulated blast furnace slag, glass cullet, etc., in concrete production and civil applications. The potential uses of industrial byproducts in concrete or as a partial aggregate substitution or as a partial cement substitution depending on their chemical composition and grain size, The utilization of these materials in concrete comes from the environmental constraints in the safe disposal of these products. Big interest is being focused on the environment and safeguarding of natural resources and recycling of waste materials. Various industries are producing a significant number of products which incorporate residues such as reclaimed aggregates, reclaimed asphalt pavement, foundry sand, copper slag, fly ash, glass cullet, polyethylene terephthalate, high density polyethylene HDPE, unplasticized polyvinyl chloride UPVC, plasticized polyvinyl chloride PPVC, low density polyethylene LDPE, polypropylene PP, polystyrene PS, expanded polystyrene UPS.

Design and Analysis of a Multistory Reinforced Concrete Frame in Different Seismic Zone

This study work focuses on the analysis of a structural system to determine the deformations and comparison of steel quantity of seismic zones. In this study, we have taken G 12 multi storied RC moment resisting framed structure building with the shear wall by analyzing the structure for gravity load, wind load and seismic loads for different cities. By Selecting four different cities on the basis of seismic zones zone II, zone III, zone IV, zone V and also considering that the basic wind speed. We have mainly focus on the structural system to determine the deformations and also forces induced by applied loads or ground excitation is an essential step in the design of a structure to resist earthquake. The analysis and design for all the cities are carried out using STAAD Pro' and STAAD Foundation' software which are industry standard software the world over. The wind resistant design is carried out as per IS 875 Part 3 1987 and the earthquake resistant design is carried out as per IS 1893 Part 1 2002. Analysis and design of beams, columns and shear wall have been done in STAAD Pro and the foundation is done in STAAD Foundation. We have also checked the design of some beams, columns, and footings manually and find correct. Design of RCC slabs is carried out manually for which an excel sheet is developed for working out moment coefficients for different edge conditions as per IS code. In this study work, we design and analyze a reinforced concrete frame structure in various seismic zones and we observing the variation in the behavior of the structure in various loading conditions.

Modeling of DC Motor and Choosing the Best Gains for PID Controller

NAMIKI 12 volt DC motor is used to model mathematically. L298 N hybrid motor driver is used to drive the motor. Voltage for the motor to drive to the desired angle is applied from the PWM of the motor. The best PWM value for the motor is considered by using PID controller from the Arduino processor. The actual angle of the motor is get from the optical encoders. The best gain for PID controller is get from Ziegler Nichols method and Simulink of MATHLAB software by using mathematical modelling equation of the motor. The modelling equation is get from two kinds of calculation. The first approach is from parameters estimation of the motor. The second is from first order differential equation. Then, the best PWM value is get for the position control of the motor. This motor is used for the robot arm.

Static Excitation System of Generator in Hydropower Station

Excitation system is one of the most important parts of the synchronous generators. Excitation system of the generator comprises from machines, devices and appliances that are intended to provide direct current to the generator field winding and this current regulation. For a constant frequency supply, the output voltage of the machine depends on the excitation current. In this paper, static excitation system of 10 MW synchronous generator in hydropower station is described and analyzed how the excitation current can be controlled to be stable terminal voltage and reactive power of generator.
