An Experimental Study on Stabilization of Clayey Soil by Using Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

Many of the areas in India contains clayey soil, for these soils Geotechnical properties are a week, which affects the stability of the soil. As Ground granulated blast furnace slag contains in this study, we received the Ground granulated blast furnace slag from steel plant waste mixing with clayey soil to enhance geotechnical properties and make it more suitable for use. In this effect of stabilized soil and change in geotechnical properties. Treatment of clayey soil using with GGBS is very simple, economical and pollution control. Ground granulated blast furnace slag GGBS and this material are obtained from the blast furnace of cement plant, which is the by product of iron from ACC plant, Sindri . It is generally obtained in three shaped one is air cooled, foamed shaped and another is in granulated shaped. The use of by product materials for stabilization has environmental and economic benefits. Ground granulated blast furnace slag GGBS material is used in the current work to stabilize soil clay . Ground granulated blast furnace slag which can be used as a stabilizer. GGBS were mixed in clayey soil in different proportions and various geotechnical characteristics are investigated through Unconfined Compression Test, Compaction Test, CBR test results show that addition of Ground Granulated blast furnace slag has a significant effect in geotechnical Characteristics of clayey soil.

Soil Stabilization by Using Lime and Fly Ash

For any type of structure, the foundation is very important and it has to be strong to support the entire structure. In order for the strong foundation, the soil around it plays a very critical role. To work on soils, we need to have proper knowledge about their properties and factors which affect their behaviour. By consolidating under load and changing volumetrically along with seasonal moisture variation, these problems are manifested through swelling, shrinkage and unequal settlement. In this paper the experimental results obtained in the laboratory on expansive soils treated with industrial waste fly ash and lime are presented. A study is carried out to check the improvements in the properties of expansive soil with fly ash and lime in varying percentages. The test results such as liquid limit, standard proctor and differential free swelling test obtained on expansive clays mixed at different proportions of lime and fly ash admixture are presented and discussed in this paper. The results show that the stabilized clay has lesser swelling potential whereas an increase in optimum moisture content has been observed.

To Standardization, Formulation and Sensory Evaluation of Carrot Dessert with Rice Balls

Carrot dessert with rice balls were prepared from different proportion of carrot puree, rice flour, sugar, milk and water i.e. T1 formulation was 27 16 16 21 20 carrot puree milk rice flour sugar water for T2 formulation was 22 21 21 16 20 carrot puree milk rice flour sugar water whereas T3 21 27 11 21 20 carrot puree milk rice flour sugar water. For this carrot dessert rice balls physicochemical and sensory analysis was carried out. The results showed that sensory evaluation and overall acceptability of carrot dessert with rice balls of treatments T1, T2 and T3 were noted as 8.3,7.9 and 7.4 respectively. It was observed that the carrot dessert with rice balls T1 was most acceptable and ranked between like very much. T1 showed moisture 61.57, fat 2.5 , protein 4.2, Carbohydrate 28 , total sugar 24.0 ash 3.8, energy by formula calculated 151.3Kcal respectively. Hence T1 have rich nutritive value and literature also showed for carrot with nutrient such as Beta carotene precursor of vit. A, Minerals, Amino acid, Calories, Antioxidants etc. Hence this recipe of carrot dessert suitable for supplementation of Vit A deficient, heart patient and cancer patients which are having good therapeutic value.

Active and Reactive Power Control of DFIG Based Grid Connected Wind Energy System

Wind power is the most reliable and developed renewable energy source. This paper gives a study on power flow control of a grid connected Doubly Fed Induction Generator DFIG wind turbine. Doubly Fed Induction Generator DFIG has widely used for large wind farms. A back to back converter is incorporated between the stator and the rotor windings of a DFIG, in order to obtain variable speed operation. The controller design methodology is presented and active and reactive power is verified. The main objective of the paper is to control the flow of the active and reactive powers produced by the DFIG based wind energy conversion system. In order to decouple of active and reactive powers generated, the vector control method is applied. A vector control strategy with stator flux orientation is applied to both the grid side converter and the rotor side converter for the independent control of active and reactive powers produced by the DFIG based wind energy conversion system. Simulation results on a 2MW DFIG system are provided to demonstrate the proposed control strategy and the variations of active and reactive power, rotor speed, and converter dc link voltage.

Evaluation of Safe Bearing Capacity by Using Statical Analysis

This paper presents the evaluation of safe bearing capacity by using statistical analysis. Bearing capacity formulae are proposed by various researchers for various conditions. In this study, four researchers namely, Terzaghi, Meyerh of, Hansen and Vesic are selected to use the bearing capacity equations. The required soil data are taken from thirteen soil reports in Chan Aye Thar San Township which includes thirty numbers of boreholes. The bearing capacity of the soil is calculated at the depth of 6ft below ground level and the square footing is considered in this study. The safety factor of 3 is used to obtain the allowable bearing capacity for various equations. To get confidence interval by statistical analysis, the allowable bearing capacity values are divided into three portions. These are the bearing capacity values less than 2 ksf, the bearing capacity values between 2 ksf and 3 ksf, and the bearing capacity values greater than 3 ksf. Confidence interval is taken as 98 . The summary of safe bearing capacity values for different locations is described.

Reserve Estimation of Initial Oil and Gas by using Volumetric Method in Mann Oil Field

This research paper is focused to estimate the current production rate of the wells and to predict field remaining reserves. The remaining reserve depends on the production points that selected to represent the real well behavior, the way of dealing with the production data, and the human errors that might happen during the life of the field. Reserves estimating methods are usually categorized into three families analogy, volumetric, and performance techniques. Reserve Estimators should utilize the particular methods, and the number of methods, which in their professional judgment are most appropriate given i the geographic location, formation characteristics and nature of the property or group of properties with respect to which reserves are being estimated ii the amount and quality of available data and iii the significance of such property or group of properties in relation to the oil and gas properties with respect to which reserves are being estimated. In this research paper, the calculation of collecting data and sample by volumetric method are suggested to estimate the oil and gas production rate with time by using the geological configuration and the historical production data from CD 3700 3800 sand in Mann Oil Field.

Design of 230 kV Twin Bundle Double Circuit Overhead Transmission Line

The purpose of this paper is to study and design of 230 kV twin bundle double circuit overhead transmission line. In design consideration, the selection of economic voltage, choice of conductor size, number of insulators, maximum sag of conductor and minimum height of conductor are considered. The electrical transfer of energy from one place to another over long distance with standard regulations is one of the major problems in the field of electrical power engineering. The parameters of overhead transmission line are resistance, inductance and capacitance. The bundle conductors are used for reducing the reactance on the line, corona losses, radio interference and surge impedance.
