Application of Unified Power Flow Controller in Nigeria Power System for Improvement of Voltage Profile

With the increased rate of urbanization and industrialization, the Nigerian electric power system is being put under pressure, high power losses which has led to fluctuation in voltage level. In this work the Nigeria 330Kv network of 42 bus system was considered. Data for the analysis were obtained from Transmission Company of Nigeria National Control Centre, Osogbo TCN and MATLAB PSAT software with newton Raphson's solution method embedded in it was used to carry out the analysis. The results of the analysis showed that many of the bus voltages were outside the voltage limits of ±5 i.e 0.95pu 1.05pu. After compensation with Flexible AC Transmission System devices FACTs namely Unified Power Flow Controller UPFC which can be used to control power flow on a transmission line, the voltage profile almost flat with bus voltages within acceptable voltage limits. It is also evident that the UPFC is device that can used to combat the voltage problem in the Nigerian electric power system.

Design and Implementation of Automatic Fire Fighting for Building using Peripheral Interface Controller

In this project, we have designed and implemented automatic fire fighting for building using PIC. It intended to prevent accidents and emergency cases of fire. It consists of gas sensor for detecting the fire, temperature sensor for sensing the environmental temperature, relay driver for pump control, alarm system and fire extinguishing system. When the temperature sensor detects a predefined temperature, the LED and buzzer will be turn on. When the smoke detector gas sensor senses a certain amount of smoke, the LED and buzzer will turn on. If both the temperature and smoke reach a predefined level, the alarm will ring and the extinguishing system will also activate, too. The advantage of this project is to reduce the amount of damages done by fire. The weak point of this project is the power supply using AC, so it will not work when electricity is out.

Brain Tumor Detection System for MRI Image

Today, computer aided system is widely used in various fields. Among them, the brain tumor detection is an important task in medical image processing. Early diagnosis of brain tumors plays an important role in improving treatment possibilities and increases the survival rate of the patients. Manual segmentation of brain tumors for cancer diagnosis, from large amount of Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI images generated in clinical routine, is a difficult and time consuming task or even generates errors. So, the automatic brain tumor segmentation is needed to segment tumor.

The purpose of the thesis is to detect the brain tumor quickly and accurately from the MRI brain image. In the system, the average filter is used to remove noise and make smooth an input MRI image and threshold segmentation is applied to segment tumor region from MRI brain images. Region properties method is used to detect the tumor region exactly. And then, the equation of the tumor region in the system is effectively applied in any shape of the tumor region.

Experimental Study on the Properties of Rice Husk Ash with A.A.A Portland Cement

In the last decades, the use of residue in civil construction, especially in addition to concrete, has been subject of many researches due to reduce the environmental pollution factors, it may lead several improvements of the concrete properties. Myanmar is one of the largest rice producing countries and per capita rice consumption is higher than that in any other countries. Considering that 20 of the grain is husk, and 20 of the husk after combustion is converted into ash. In this study, the chemical composition and physical properties of A.A.A Portland cement are tested. The rice husk ash RHA is obtained from Shwebo. And then, the ingredients of mortar and concrete such as sand and aggregate are tested. In this study, Ayeyarwaddy rivers sand is used. According to the silica content, the replacement percentage of RHA is considered as 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 by weight of cement. Finally, the compressive and tensile strength of mortar, and compressive strength of concrete are tested with various percentages of RHA. The results were compared to control sample and the viability of adding RHA to concrete is verified.

An Research Article on Fabrication and Characterization of Nickel Oxide Coated Solar Cell

In this paper we have produced NiO thin film based solar cells. The NiO thin film was then studied for their structural, optical and electrical properties. By the help of these results we have capable to know about the structure of NiO the phase purity of the thin film X ray diffraction XRD pattern of NiO showed the diffraction planes corresponding to cubic phase respectively. The optical properties showed that with the increase in the deposition time of NiO the energy band gap varied between 3.1 to 3.24 eV. In the end, IV characteristics of the thin films were obtained by the help of matlab in the presence of light as will as dark region.

Automatic Water Storage and Distribution System using Reliance SCADA

The increasing population and thus the wide expansion of urban residential areas have increased the need for proper sharing of water. This distribution of water in every house within different areas needs control and monitoring for preventing the wastage of water. Different technologies have been studied to distribute the water to each and every house of residential areas. The main aim of this paper is to provide an effective water supply to each consumer and to detect the leakage sites. Automation provides an optimized solution to all problems of the water distribution system. In order to implement the proposed system, each area must be provided with a water flow sensor which is controlled by the Arduino mega board and can calculate flow rate and the amount of water supplied. The entire system has features of Reliance SCADA Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition to control and monitor the water distribution. In this paper, the system distributes the water under the area of a single water tank. In this way, to control the whole system the automation is developed using PLC Programmable Logic Controller.

Examination of Ship Object Recognition in High Determination Sar Metaphors Based on Information Theory and Harris Corner Detection Technique

In demand to make up the defects of some prevailing ship object recognition systems for high determination synthetic aperture radar SAR images, a ship object recognition system centered on information theory and Harris corner recognition for SAR images is anticipated in this paper. At the outset, the SAR appearance is pretreated, and later, it is alienated into super pixel squares by consuming the upgraded simple direct iterative bunching super pixel generation algorithm. Then, the self statistics rate of the super pixel squares is deliberate, and the threshold T1 is fixed to hand picked the aspirant super pixel squares. And formerly, the prolonged vicinity biased statistics entropy progression level threshold T2 is set to exclude the false alarm aspirant super pixel squares. As a final point, the Harris corner detection algorithm is used to route the recognition outcome and the quantity of the corner threshold T3 is set to riddle out the false alarm squares, and the ultimate SAR image object recognition outcome is attained. The efficiency and supremacy of the recommended algorithm are certified by equating the recommended method with the outcomes of constant false alarm rate CFAR recognition algorithm shared with morphological handling algorithm and further ship object recognition algorithms.
