Engineering Surveying Course Taught to Civil Engineering Students in KSA Universities A Case Study of Albaha University

Surveying course is one of the fundamental subjects that involved in academic plan of most civil engineering programs. It generally covers topic that concerned with mapping, setting out, earthwork, and design. The course title differs from one program to another. It may appear under the name of surveying, mapping techniques or geomatic. Surveying is applicable in almost all branches of civil engineering whether structure, highways or hydraulic engineering.

In surveying courses, some educational problems may face both students and lecturers because of the nature of the subject that consists of practical side and field work applications and communication complicity of knowledge transfer between the two the sides. In addition to student society in which the course presented. This research work tried to study analyze and evaluate examination results of surveying course taught to civil engineering student in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia KSA taking faculty of engineering in Albaha university as a case study.

Both courses surveying 1 and surveying 2 were taken into consideration. Results showed that a great chance is available for students to pass the course and only about 7 of students are expected to fail the course. About 19 of student can successfully have grades A to A where, grades D to D represent the dominant grades. Beside that the general trend line of course results tend to be normally distributed. Moreover, analysis showed that both subject results of surveying 1 and surveying 2 were highly correlated.

Study on Building Structures with Sloping Ground under Seismic and Wind Load Conditions

Analysis and design of space building frame for seismic loading and wind pressure is very essential these days because construction of high rise buildings. It is also necessary to construct an economic and more durable structure. It is possible by availability of various software and specialized programs. By using these software we can design a low weight reinforce structure which life is very good. These structures are more economical and safe by different forces acting on the building structure such as seismic load, snow load and wind pressure etc.

The current work examines the structural behavior of reinforced concrete columns, beam, and footing in sloping geometry. In this study a G 8 storey RCC building is analysed on varying sloping angles i.e., 0o or plane surface, 10o and 15o. The seismic forces and wind pressure are considered simultaneously as per IS 1893-2002 and IS 875 PART 3 respectively.

The whole structure is analysis on software STAAD Pro v8i. The effect of sloping ground on building performance during earthquake and wind pressure is observed. Seismic analysis has been done using Linear Static method. Seismic analysis has been done using linear static method.

Home Automation Android Based GSM System

The main aim of the project is to develop a system, which uses mobile technology that keep control of the various units of the automobiles, which executes with respect to the signal sent by mobile. In today's time every system is automated in order to face new challenges. Automated system has minimized manual operation, so that the flexibility, reliabilities are found to be highly accurate. Hence every field prefers automated control systems. Specifically in the field of electronics automated systems are proved to be best. Probably the important factor to know about the GSM is that it is an international standard.

If you travel around the world, global system for mobile communication is only type of cellular service available in present time. Rather than analog service global system for mobile communication GSM was developed as a digital system using TDMA technology. For using devices the unique concept has been about to implement to operate them remotely by using global system for mobile communication , which enables the user to remotely control ON OFF condition of household appliances.

Only a simple SMS sending to the global system for mobile communication modem at nearer place, the devices can be turned ON OFF and the status of the devices can be sent to the prescribed mobile number registered in the microcontroller. We can control the appliances using mobile. We develop the android app on our mobile. That we can control the any household devices.

IOT Based Structural Health Monitoring

Structural Health Monitoring is an emerging field of science and technology. The process of implementing a damage detection and characterization strategy for engineering structures is referred to as Structural Health Monitoring SHM . The SHM process involves the observation of a system over time using periodically sampled dynamic response measurements from an array of sensors, the extraction of damage-sensitive features from these measurements, and the statistical analysis of these features to determine the current state of system health. The research paper describes the piezo-vibrational sensor and accelerometer sensors to monitor the prototype of bridge.

Performance Analysis of PV Modules A Review

In this paper literature review of performance analysis of PV modules are supposed to be monitored continuously for their parameters open voltage Voc , short current Isc , temperature, insolation, time etc. In proposed system don't need any person to be present physically on sight, so that the real time monitoring system is used. Home automation unit, sports using wireless sensor network. This monitoring system use for check PV modules performance analysis daily. Different platform like Microcontroller, ASIC, PIC microcontroller and embedded systems are used to design the system based on this performance and in the recent years cloud based systems have emerged. In future using IoT we can develop a system which will help to monitor different PV panel parameters or Faults.

Effect of Quartz sand Grains Diameter on the Mechanical Properties of Mortars

The aim of this study is to evaluate experimentally the influence of quartz dune sand incorporation in the cement matrix by mass substitution at different percentages and diameters, on the mechanical properties of the mortars. Properties of the mortars were determined by flexural traction and compressive strength the results obtained highlight the effect of the sand dune grain diameter on the mechanical properties of the mortars tested. The use of quartz dune sand with a diameter of less than 0.16mm improved the mechanical strength of mortars.
