Experimental Study on Physical Properties of High Strength Concrete With and Without Horse Dung

Use of fibres is not new to the construction industry. But the way they are being used and its ever-growing varieties have always made it a burning topic for the researchers. The principal reason to incorporate fibres into a cement matrix is to increase the compressive strength and to improve the soundness characteristics of the resultant composite.

Previous studies related to the use of natural organic fibres in concrete have shown strength variation with respect to the various types of fibres and fibres content. In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to design a high strength Fibre Reinforced Concrete by proportioning the mix with moisture free pulverized natural organic fibres obtained from horse manuredung. 11 mixes were prepared separately to determine the characteristics and properties of freshly laid concrete.

33 cubes were casted for the determination of compressive strength and 12 beams were casted for the determination of flexural strength of concrete. Later study was carried out on this designed concrete mix by considering different parameters such as fibre content, proportioning of fine aggregates, time (days) and types of tests (Destructive and Non Destructive test). Results of the study have shown that the performance of designed concrete mix with different mix proportions and different percentage of fibres as additive and replacement of fine aggregates are far more efficient and superior to the conventional mix.

As the proportion of percentage of fibers is increased, the performance and strength of freshly mixed as well as of hardened concrete cubes gets improved. After increment in percentage of fibers in mixes, a stage comes where the quantity of fibers is well enough to affect the performance as well as strength of concrete cube. This research summarized the use of horse manuredung, a natural organic fibre by some percentage in the concrete mix to get favourable workability, compressive and flexural strength.

An Analysis on Increasing the Loom Speed

In this project, an analysis has been carried out on the speed increasing process of Cone over pick loom of 36" reed space, The parts like picking system, Shedding mechanisms, Brake, beat-up system etc are given importance in terms of design changes to give a smooth picking, checking and effective braking and also smooth running of crank at higher speeds.

The loom characteristics with respect to the above mentioned parts are analyzed and to suit the existing loom parts, new designs have been evolved with the help of PV ATIRA loom part manufactures. The parts received from them are analyzed for their effectiveness, in comparison with the existing parts. The picking mechanism, shedding systems and the brake are mounted on the loom after taking out the respective existing parts.

The loom is run without any difficulty at the existing speed. The higher speed has not been tried due to non-fixation of the new checking device, central supporting bracket and the bearing for the crank, because of shortage of time. The analyzed facts reveal the advantages indication in the picking force, braking force etc. The picking force is expected to reduce by 14%.Since spring swell is provided in modified loom, the peak retardation value is reduced by 24.3%.

sley eccentricity ratio is increased by 7.1% as the connecting arm length is reduced. A sound level is another important factor. With existing parts the sound level measured at picking bowl and shuttle box are 102dB and 109dB, respectively. But in modified loom they are 97dB and 105dB. So, a reduction of noise level by 9dB is achieved by the modification which is an encouraging factor to go in for higher rate of pick insertion. At picking bowl noise level is reduced by 5% and at shuttle box, it is reduced by 3.9%.

Determining the Concentration of Pollutant in Vizag Steel Plant

The increase in the demand of steel has led to the increase in production of steel which results in the increase in the discharge of pollutant in the air. Which pollute the air causing harm to the comfort or health of humans and animals, or could damage plants and materials. This study process aims on monitoring the concentration of pollutants being expelled in the ambient air from the chimneys of vizag steel plant, which is situated in Visakhapatnam.

The various air pollutants taken in consideration includes PM10, NOx and Sox. After analysis, the maximum concentration of PM10 is 135. 88µgm3, NOx is 25.36 µgm3, SOx is 17.69 µgm3. The mean concentration of PM10 is 114.94µgm3, NOx is 17.06 µgm3, SOx is 13.00 µgm3.

Regenerative Brakingusing Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) and Supercapacitor

This paper demonstrates exceptionally dependable, expanded range control supply for an electric vehicle. The power sources introduce are solar PV source, a battery and a super capacitor. Vehicles worked just on battery arranged frameworks face issues of charging, discharging of battery quickly. To diminish these effects on battery, it will consolidate with super capacitor.

The benefits of this setup include better increasing speed execution, longer driving extent, controlled regenerative braking, smaller battery pack and longer battery life. The work stresses on battery, present during periods of acceleration and braking of three phase induction motor drive. Bidirectional DC-DC converters are used for the proper flow of power to motor during various stages of driving cycle. The THD values are also get reduce up to great level with this framework.

An Improved DEEHC to Extend Lifetime of WSN

Sensor networks consist of randomly deployed nodes that are powered by smaller batteries. The quantum and quality of information sensed by these nodes is of vital importance. Battery saving techniques or algorithms are need of the hour. One such technique is clustering of the nodes. This paper presents modification to existing DEEHC algorithm that builds multiple vertex disjoint paths from nodes to base station via cluster heads.

The proposed modification (DEEHC) improves the performance of the network as equated to DEEHC and FLDEEC by relaying the data of the child cluster heads using relay nodes. MDEEHC shows improvement in terms of throughput, packet delivery ratio, number of packet drops and remaining energy.

Road Accident Study on Some Areas in Yangon

Nowadays, road crashes become a growing worldwide problem and result in around 1 million deaths now occurs in developing countries. Huge economic losses are now being incurred annually in the ASEAN countries as a direct result of road crashes and the most recent research suggests annual losses across the region are now in excess of US dollar 14 billion per year (around 2.1% of annual GDP of ASEAN region).

In Myanmar, thousands of healthy lives are lost by road accidents comparing with other ASEAN countries. A research was conducted on a section of Pyay road with its high-accident locations to study and evaluate the cause of its frequent accidents. Initial study indicated that most of the accidents were attributed to human elements.

This was included by the fact that a high percentage of accident was caused by the collision of moving vehicle and pedestrian. Identifying and removing hazardous spots to improve road safety will primarily requires well documented record on those roads with high-accident locations. These data base can inform to urban transport planner for road safety improvement.

Plasma Spray Gun: Literature Review on Cooling Efficiency

Plasma Spray gun basically deals with relatively huge temperature ranges. The range can be from 15k 0c to 25k 0c. Hence, cooling the nozzle and gun would make it to work efficiently and perform well. The article allows the users to look up at the basic comparisons of the works that we have carried and allows us to review on better cooling efficiency.
