Critical Analysis of Power Factor Improvement of Single Phase AC/DC Converter by Passive/Active Filters

This paper provides a concise review of the most interesting passive and active filters of power factor correction, for single phase and low power applications. The increasing growth in the use of electronic equipment in recent years has resulted in a greater need to ensure that the line current harmonic content of any equipment connected to the ac mains is limited to meet regulatory standards.

This requirement is usually satisfied by incorporating some form of Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuits to shape the input phase currents, so that they are sinusoidal in nature and are in phase with the input phase voltages. There are multiple solutions in which line current is sinusoidal. The major advantages and disadvantages are highlighted.

Performance and Emissions Analysis of VCR Engine Using Waste Mustard Cooking Oil

Biodiesel is an alternative to conventional petro diesel fuel. It can be produced by vegetable oils and animal fats. In addition, it can also be produced by waste cooking oils. The main limitation of biodiesel production is that it can cause food shortage and can lead to heavy use of fertilizers and water which deplete the natural resources, soil and water. Using waste cooking oil as a raw material for biodiesel would overcome these limitations and would also avoid the problem of disposal of these waste oils. In this study, transesterification process is performed on waste cooking oil (mustard oil), to produce biodiesel as a product.

Following this, biodiesel is blended with normal diesel fuel to produce blends having biodiesel concentration of 6%, 12% and 18%, hereby referred as B6, B12 and B18. These blends are tested on performance and emissions parameters at different loads on a VCR diesel engine. B12 gave the best suitable outcomes on brake thermal efficiency, specific fuel consumption and mechanical efficiency while B18 gave better volumetric efficiency. NOx, unburnt hydrocarbons, CO and CO2 emissions were the most optimal in case of B12.

Properties of Concrete with Acid

The main aim of this project is to see change in concrete by hydrochloric acid attack. It is well known that the concrete under acidic environment is deteriorated due to a chemical attack. For example, acid rain cause concrete unexpectedly short service life due to the damages for concrete cover. This paper presents the effect of Hydrochloric acid (HCl) on Blended Cement (Fly ash based (BC)) and Silica Fume Blended Cement(SFBC) and their concretes.

The BC and SFBC and their concretes BCC and SFBCC produced with HCl dosage of 100, 150,300, 500 and 900 mg/l added in deionized water. In addition to this control specimens were prepared with deionized water (without HCl) for comparison. The setting times and compressive strength were evaluated for 28 and 90 days apart from studying Rapid chloride ion permeability. The results show that, as HCl concentration increases, there is retardation in initial and final setting of cements (BC and SFBC).

The compressive strength of both BCC and SFBCC has come down with an increase in the concentration of HCl at both 28 and 90 days. Compressive strengths of BCC and SFBCC have decreased in the range of 2 to 19%, at 28 and 90 day age respectively, with an increase in HCl concentration, when compared with the control specimens. It was also observed that Chloride ion permeability has increased with an increase in the concentration of the acid. Though after this experiment we are considered that the effects of hydrochloric acid on concrete leads to slow n steady of concrete which make them weak and later on it demolishes completely.

An Investigative Review on Landing Gear of an Aircraft Structure based on Finite Element Monitoring

Landing gear is the critical subsystem of an aircraft. The need is to design the landing gear with minimum weight & volume, high performance, improved life & reduced life cycle cost. Further, it is essential to reduce the landing gear design and development cycle time while meeting all the regulatory & safety requirements. This includes the design and analysis of a medium size transport aircraft landing gear unit. A typicallanding load case will be assumed for which structural analysis will be carried out.During landing, there will be three different types of loads viz.,vertical load, drag load &side load.

Each of these loads will cause axial compression, bending and torsion on the strut of the landing gear.Italso absorbs the energy from the impact of landing numerical type simulation has become highly invaluable tool for the assessment of the landing gear type dynamics also as well as of aircraft landing structure gear interaction. This paper also describes the normal structure review of a simple landing-gear structure model system, and which is accurately simulates with the energy system absorbed by the gear without the adding substantial structure and complexity with the model.

it carries the structure aircraft weight at all require ground operations, including, landing, take off, taxiing, and towing. Many type model includes nonlinear structure effects such as a velocity type squared related high damping, poly tropic gas law, stick-slip friction, a geometry governed with the high model structure for the high discharge type coefficients and methods, effects a nonlinear spring and damping model structure.

IoT based water saving technique for Green Farming

A decision Support System based on the combination of micro controllers and ADC and ANN Algorithm is proposed to support the irrigation management in agriculture. The farmers experience and the irrigation best practices are modeled through Artificial Intelligence and Neural Network Algorithm and the outputs of numerical soil and crop models are used to provide a context-aware and optimized irrigation schedule. The suggested actions are devoted to reduce the waste of water and to maximize the crop yield according to the weather conditions and the real water needs. The proposed methodology is embedded in the network gateway making the system a truly smart and autonomous wireless decision support system.

A Review - Structural design of leaf spring by using Hybrid Composite Material

Weight reduction is now the main issue in automobile industries. In this work due to reduce the weight of steel spring with Hybrid composite leaf spring due to high strength ratio is need to improve. The main aim is to make a review on the load carrying capacity, stiffness and weight savings of composite leaf spring with that of steel leaf spring at rated-load and over-load condition. The analysis has been carried out for the leaf spring made up of steel and Composite materials. Composite specimens are fabricated with two different staking sequences like the (resin with clay and enhanced with Nanoparticles). The thickness and width for constant cross section is maintained on the moulding techniques.

The design of multi leaf spring was modeled in ANSYS 14.5.the dimensions of an existing multi leaf spring is taken for modeling and analysis of a laminated composite multi leaf spring with different composite sequence materials subjected to the same load as that of steel spring.
