A Case-Study on Blackout

Indian grid system is a synchronized system and presently operating as National Grid. India has five provincial grids altogether as per geological region which covers the distinct state's electrical power framework to be specific these are Northern Grid, Eastern Grid, Western Grid, Southern Grid and North-Eastern Grid. Southern Grid isn't synchronized with whatever is left of the areas and consequently keeps running on a marginally different frequency and associated with Western Grid and Eastern Grid through HVDC links.

A power outage is the total or partial loss of energy to a territory and is the most serious type of blackout that can happen. Power outage is a transgression to the interconnected power framework. At the point when interconnected power framework goes out of step, it is basic and essential to distinguish it quickly, and islanding ought to be taken to counteract boundless power outage. Two extreme power outages influenced the greater part of northern and eastern India on 30th and 31st July 2012.

The 30th July 2012 power outage influenced more than 300 million individuals and was the then-biggest power blackout ever, tallying number of individuals influenced, beating the January 2001 India power outage. Within the 24 hours of restoration of this, another blackout strokes the northern part of the country. The outage of 31st July is the biggest power blackout exceeding the previous one.

Review on Earth Observation and Space Museum Application

In recent years, Earth Observation has become technologically increasingly sophisticated. It has also become more important due to the dramatic impact that modern human civilization is having on the planet Earth, and the need to minimize negative impacts along with the opportunities. Earth observation provides to improve social and economic well-being. The Space Museum is the collection of space crafts, air craft's, satellites and other celestial bodies.

Abnormal Driving Behaviors detection with smart phones

Abnormal driving behaviors detection is a key stone for reducing accidents. There are several existing works for abnormal driving detection which uses high cost sensors to check whether the driver is in normal state or in drunken state. In this paper we would like to introduce a low cost technique for detecting abnormal driving behaviors with the use of some in built Smartphone sensors. With the information collected from the sensors we will employ the machine learning technique (SVM and KNN) to extract the features and for generating a classifier model. We will send the alerts if abnormality is detected.

Heat Transfer Analysis in Annular Fin with Tapered Profile used in IC Engine

Internal combustion engine has required for more amount of heat transfer rate. Fins are the extended surface used to increase the heat transfer rate. The heat transfer rate depends on the thermal conductivity of the material and surface exposed to atmosphere. In this project, the heat transfer rate of IC engine will be improving with the help of change the fin area and profile. The rate of conduction heat transfer is getting improved by changing the fin profile from annular fin of rectangular to tapered profile. To investigate the performance of fins by experimental as well as theoretical. The heat transfer rate is also improved by forced convection. Thermal analysis of fin by using ANSYS WORKBENCH.

Maritime Boundary Protection System Using Floating Station

The Island like Sri Lanka, peninsula like India and the coastal countries are separated by their maritime borders. The people livelihood in coastal area of those countries purely depends on fishing occupation in the sea. The sea border between two countries is not easily identifiable, which is the main reason for this cross border cruelty. The main objective of this system is to help the fishermen to navigate inside our maritime country border. For this we are constructing a Floating Station uses Hybrid power which is placed in the countries border. If a fisherman navigates beyond the country's border, an alarm is generated indicating that the fisherman is nearing the border.

Along with this we are using RSSI for identification of boat. Additionally a message transmitter is interfaced with this device to send a message in the encoded form to base station indicating that a vessel has crossed the border using IoT. Thus guards can assist and provide additional help to those fishermen if needed.

Estimate the Compressive and Flexural Strength Test of Natural and Recycle Concrete Aggregate

Rapid industrial development causes depletion of natural aggregates, creates a huge amount of waste materials from constructional activities. To utilize recycle concrete aggregates in the production of concrete to reduce such problems. Use of recycle concrete aggregate in concrete is economical and environmentally viable. The main concern of this research is to reuse the demolished concrete as coarse aggregate for building a new structure.

For this reason, the compressive strength as well as the flexural strength of natural concrete aggregate was compared with recycled concrete aggregate at different curing period. Also, the strength of mixed concrete (NRC) which contains half natural concrete aggregate and half recycles concrete aggregate was determined. Concrete made for recycle aggregate has both enough flexural strength and compressive strength. The 28 days compressive strength and flexural strength of recycle concrete were found 1975 psi and 676 psi respectively.

Assessing the Monthly Variation of Reference Evapotranspiration of Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria

The application of suitable water quantity to the crops in irrigation farming is very important for effective crop yields as less or more than the required quantity of water when applied will affect the crop output negatively. The objective of this work was to determine the monthly reference Evapotranspiration of Nsukka, Enugu state of Nigeria, as well as how its variation is affected by temperature change. This work made use of Hargreaves-Samani model of evapotranspiration prediction, using the data of minimum and maximum temperature obtained from NASA's earthdata database.

It was shown from the results that highest evapotranspirationoccured in February, and lowest occurred in July. It was further observed that reference Evapotranspiration of the study area has a positive correlation coefficient of 0.9927 with the maximum temperature and a negative correlation coefficient of -0.1879 with the minimum temperature. Conclusively, it was stated that reference evapotranspiration was higher in the study area in dry season than in rainy season, and that it was directly proportional to the maximum temperature and inversely to the minimum temperature.
