Design and Analysis of Air Intake System for Single Cylinder Engine

Our understanding of Air flow behavior around an object makes us better designer in order to achieve better performances from our automobiles. In this paper we present an analysis of air flow via air-intake system required to meet FSAE norms in SUPRA Vehicles. The aim of this project is to create a flow restriction device to be fitted in the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) car being built by Team Zenith, GB Pant Engineering College, New Delhi.

The car is an open wheeled race vehicle, designed to go from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds and have a top speed of about 80-90 mph.An Air-intake system in a FSAE SUPRA Vehicle consists of various components as followed: -1) Air Filter2) Air Restrictor3) Plenum4) Intake Manifold.Air enters at the filter and passes through restrictor, which is used to increase velocity and drop pressure and then enters into plenum which is used to provide better distribution of air flow and to prevent further drop in pressure.Design of Air restrictor is critical as per norms of FSAE due to fixed minimum neck diameter of 20 mm as demonstrated below.

Fig: - Basic structure of restrictor, plenum and runnerThis is done primarily to limit the power capability from the engine. Since the maximum mass flow rate is now a fixed parameter because of the restrictor, the aim is to allow the engine to achieve the maximum mass flow with minimal pull from the engine. In short, the pressure difference between atmosphere and the pressure created in the cylinder should be minimal, so that maximum airflow into the engine at all times.

Our study revolves around finding such combination of angles of inclination and rise of the restrictor which should provide the vehicle maximum performance within limits directed by FSAE.We have simulated various design of Air restrictors based on different pair of angles for the Air-restrictor that could make a significant impact in the performance of the engine. The software we used for the same are ANSYS, SolidWorks.

Human Aspects in Implementation of Total Productive Maintenance

The manufacturing industry has gone through significant changes in the last decade. Competition has increased dramatically. Customers focus on product quality, product delivery time, safety and cost of product. Because of these, company should introduce a system to improve and increase quality, productivity and safety continuously. The aim of this paper is to study the Human Aspects in Implementation of Total Productive Maintenance.

In this paper, we have taken the case study to demonstrate the Total Productive Maintenance implementation methodology and to highlight the benefits achieved during Total Productive Maintenance in an engineering industry XYZ Pvt. Ltd. (name changed) situated in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. TPM proved that its implementation helped the company significantly to achieve higher Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale, customer satisfaction and profits or the improvements in key performance indicators (PQCDSM).

Based on the analysis for achieving operational excellence 5S, LeadTime Reduction / Throughput time Reduction, Kaizen and preventive maintenance are important. Whereas Poka-Yoke and visual control are necessary activities for implementation of Total Productive Maintenance.

IoT based Classroom Automation using Arduino

The Internet has become a daily necessity to utmost of the effective participants in which we interact and communicate among ourselves by switching data and information sensed about the environment and atmosphere. From this IoT they relate autonomously to the real world events and offer us with services with or without direct human interference. In this project we use IoT for energy efficient Environmental Conditions recognizing and supervising in our Classroom. This gives a vast advantage on the smart Classroom systems using Internet of Things.

This project will help the teacher present in the classroom to allow them to control the classroom using android application in the Android smartphone. The overall system design is mainly based on Arduino Mega 2560. The appliances are to be controlled by the Android Application. The android application is developed using Blynk software or Blynk android application. We can supervise the state of sensors connected in the Arduino board and we can control the modules by simply enabling some options in the android application in our smart phone.

Traffic Congestion - Causes and Solution: A Study of Kota City

Kota city is the industrial city of Rajasthan and also major coaching hub of india. Kota city is swiftly moving towards being a "Smart City" but lack of parking space and road jam and encroachment on road is the biggest problem in Kota .To solve this problem we should take a step for road capacity expansion, improved road Infrastructure, restricting routs for auto rickshaw financial penalty to the traffic law brokers and application of fly over most importantly, proper traffic management system along with appropriate implementation of traffic rules is necessary to mitigate the problems of traffic congestion.

Application & Analysis of Banana Stem Fibre use as Construction Material

This project reviews the properties of banana fibres. These banana fibres were investigated by different researchers as a construction material to be used in composites (such as mortar and concrete). The different research carried out and the conclusions drawn are briefly presented. The aim of review is to compile the available data of banana fibres evaluated in last few decades and thus, it can be used as a references/guideline for the upcoming result of a particular fibre.

Natural fibres are use to increase the strength properties of the composites. But all properties cannot be improved at the same time because fibres have their own characteristics. So it is recommended that appropriate fibre should be use for a particular purpose. Also, there should be guideline/criteria for acceptance of banana fibres, because of variable properties of a particular fibre in different regions. No doubt, banana fibres can be used in a variety of manners, but still, there is a need of research for investigating the further properties of fibres.

Effective Badminton Coaching Schema using PIC16F887 Microcontroller

This project shows that the badminton player can practice without the help of coach. By using 16F887 pic microcontroller, some led and buzzer. This helps the player to practice by using the coach-less method which is made by pic microcontroller. This also helps the coach to concentrate on other players too.
