Overview of Various Industrial Fault Diagnosis Methods

Fault detection plays an important role in high cost and safety critical processes. Early detection of faults can help to avoid normal event progression. Fault detection can be accomplished through various means. Fault diagnosis consists of all actions taken for fault recognizing, fault locating and root cause identification. For networking, Ethernet is suitable to act as the backbone to connect multiple domains and also for interworking within domains.

Ethernet is one of the most common high speed interfaces found in homes and offices and there are some automobiles where Ethernet is being used to transport a variety of high speed data. Hence we can enhance a real time data driven algorithm for industrial fault diagnosis and localization of an Ethernet based systems. This paper presents a detail review of various fault diagnosis techniques, recent trends and their implementation for particular applications.

Durability Test of a Developed Radon Counter Module

Radon is a natural, inert, invisible, odorless and chemically inactive radioactive gas emitted from the earth. Because inhaling radon and its radioactive-decay products causes irradiation of lung tissue, prolonged exposure to a high concentration of radon significantly increases the risk of developing cancer. For our experiments, we implemented a radon counter with a PIN photodiode radon-sensor module. The radon counter was equipped with a Wi-Fi module for wireless communication and radon monitoring. In order to improve the performance of the developed radon counter module, the durability test was performed.

Popularly Used Security Protocols on All Layers of Network Communication

TCP/IP is used to provide network communication throughout the world. Now-a-days all organization are dependent on Internet and perform all sort of communication. Security controls exists for network communication at each layer of the TCP/IP Model. Even as this communication contains a lot of secret information which has to travel securely, more protection is required. Having developed and identified various security mechanisms for achieving network security, it is essential to decide where to apply them; both physically (at what location) and logically (at what layer of an architecture such as TCP/IP).

Security professionals must understand the issues and risks associated with these transactions if they want to provide viable and scalable security solutions for Internet commerce. In this paper, we have discussed various security protocols existing in all layers and what are the best protocols which have to be implemented to perform any communication on the network.

Automatic Headlight Control with Central Locking System

Headlights aren't the most complicated tech, even in newer cars with fancy systems like adaptive headlights, but there are a handful of different points of failure that could result in the situation that it describing. The easiest way to keep the battery from dying is to straight up disconnect it. If it never done that before, then it'll just want to make sure that it disconnect the negative cable (typically black) instead of the positive cable (typically red) to avoid even the possibility of a short circuit.

Once the battery is disconnected, the headlights will turn off, and the battery won't die. The other way to shut the headlights off is to remove the appropriate fuse or relay. This is a little more complicated than disconnecting the battery since you will have to locate the correct fuse panel and then figure out which fuse or relay to pull. It will prevent a loss of power to the computer and radio, though, so you won't have to deal with any fallout later on.

Analog CMOS Image Sensor-based Radon Counter

Radon is an invisible, odorless, and chemically inactive radioactive gas produced by the decay of uranium ore. Various types of equipment and components have been proposed for use in effective radon detection. In this paper, we describe a radon detector that uses an analog CMOS image sensor module. Based on our studies, we believe that this system would be helpful in protecting many people from the dangers associated with radon exposure.

Effect of Deep Cryogenic Treatment on the Tensile Behavior of AISI 8620 Gear Steel

Life expectancy of mechanical systems is always dependent on the most critical component of the system. Gears represent the most highly stressed parts of a heavy vehicle; these are typically made of AISI 8620 steel. This paper investigates the influence of cryogenic treatment on the tensile properties of hardened tempered AISI 8620 steel. In the current research study, specimens of gear steel (AISI 8620) were hardened at 1193K, tempered at 473K and then cryogenically treated at 88K followed by soft tempering in the oven at 373K for 1hr to relieve cooling stresses. A comparative study on the effects of deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) on hardened tempered specimens and conventional heat treated specimens was made by means of tension testing.

This test was conducted as per ASTM standard E 8M. The present results confirms that the tensile behavior is marginally reduced after cryogenic treatment for AISI 8620 steel when compared with conventional hardened tempered steel. Stereographic image analysis of the fracture surface indicates the presence of dimples and flat regions are more common in DCT '“ processed material.

Security System for Car using CAN Protocol

The design consist of a central "Airbag control unit"(ACU) controls a number of related sensors within the vehicle like accelerometers, impact sensors, wheel speed sensors, gyroscopes, brake pressure sensors, and seat occupancy sensors. When the requisite 'threshold' has been reached or exceeded, the airbag control unit will trigger the ignition of a gas generator propellant to rapidly inflate a nylon fabric bag.

The inflated airbag reduces the deceleration experienced by the passenger during the crash through the process of venting gas out of small vent holes in a controlled manner absorbing the energy of the occupant impacting the bag. CAN is a serial communication protocol. The CAN bus may be used in vehicles to connect engine control unit and transmission , or (on a different bus) to connect the door locks , climate control , seat control.
