Control Systems in the Presence of Actuators or Sensors Degradation

In this paper, we design controller that combines an observer and a control to handle systems subject to actuator or sensor degradation (including complete failure). The observer contains a pre-filter, an adaptive law, and a modified Luenberger observer that achieves estimation of system state and estimation of conditions of actuator or sensor. We have shown that if a set of differential Riccati inequatities (DRI) is satisfied then the system can be stabilized under actuator degrad-ation. While in sensor degradation case if an Algebraci Riccati inequality (ARI) and a DRI are satisfied then the system is stabilized.

MIMO Systems with Degraded Actuators and Sensors

This paper presents a reliable control design technique for linear, time-invariant, multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems with degraded actuators and sensors. The degradation defined in this paper ranges from normal operational conditions to complete failure of actuators and sensors. We derive linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions ensuring robust stability of the system using static state feedback. The potential of the proposed technique has been demonstrated by an example of three coupled inverted pendulums.

Visible Light Communication for Visually Impaired People using Sustainable LEDs

We developed navigation system prototype for the visually impaired using LED lights. Where LED lights emit visible light with location data and a smartphone or blind person's stick with a visible light receiver receives the data. The controller with receiver calculates the optimal path to a designation and speaks to the visually impaired through a headphone or turns stick left or right with the help of motor. The prototype is able to navigate the visually impaired users fairly well with speech guidance.

We believe that the application of visible light communication belongs to location-based services and new graphical user interfaces that combine visual imagery with visible light communication. For this application, users are able to know the information associated with a transmitter. If a transmitter is attached to a building or a fixed place, location information will be obtained. Indoor navigation is convenient for everyone, and it is especially useful for visually impaired. If a transmitter is attached to a building or a fixed place, location information will be obtained and conveyed to receiver using LED light. Earthquake Resistance Architecture: A Study for the Architectural Design of Buildings in Sesmic Zones

In Addressing the role of architects and the architectural aspects of earthquake performance of buildings, this paper has had three objective: First to show that earthquake construction is not merely an engineering activity for structural engineers, it is an activity to be shared by both engineers and architects; Second to demonstrate the role that non computal or architectural aspects plays in determining the earthquake resistance of building, and third to emphasise the need for engineers to understand characteristics of traditional construction and for architects to understand the problem and nature of earthquake effect on building.

Seed Quality Analysis Using Image Processing and ANN

The use of good quality seed is important for the satisfactory production of a good quality crop and is essential for export in markets. Quality control is very important in food industry because based on quality of food products are classified and graded into different grades. Quality of grain is evaluated manually but it is very much, time consuming, may be varying results and costly. Digital image processing can be used for quality evaluation and grading of agricultural food in industry. One of the major step in quality analysis of grains is grading of grains, which is normally done either manually or using expensive electronics equipments.

We propose a simple method based on image processing and using Artificial Neural Network for grading of rice granules Here grading will be performed by calculating rice seed major axis length ,miner axis length, area ,eccentricity and perimeter. Result will be displayed on LCD and also there is an audio message . The paper presents a solution of grading and analysis of rice grains on the basis of grain size and shape using image processing techniques and Artificial neural network. This method requires minimum time and it is low in cost.

Effects of Parameter Variations of PV Module based on MATLAB-Simulink Modeling

Recent applications in remote areas need low-cost source of power. Standalone PV system could assure this power. This paper includes the effect of variation of parameters of PV panel model in MATLAB/Simulink. This build model is based on mathematical equations of the equivalent circuits which consists of a current source, series resistance, and parallel resistance along with a diode. The model is built for the predetermination of nature of the Solar-PV module for different radiation, temperature and other physical parameters.

Moreover, PV-array system has been studied in the given research work. For the validation of Simulink results, a real time set also has been studied.

Performance Analysis of Different PV Topologies with MPPT

Photovoltaic solar systems with Panel Integrated Converters (PICs) that are connected in series and parallel are getting more attention for the ability to produce high output voltage while performing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) function for every single solar panels. Conventionally, MPPT controller and Boost Converter is utilized for each solar panel or channel in this in series and parallel connection architecture, which results in cost increase.

This paper presents a single MPPT controller for two solar panels in any series or parallel connection architecture. It is suited when the load is fix voltage or is resistive. The proposed controller is investigated based on boost type PICs. Experimental results under transient and steady state conditions and are presented to verify the performance of the proposed work.
