Influence of Elastic Deformations on the Adhesion of the ZRN Coating on the Clinching Tool

Clinching is a mechanical joining method. Is it utilized in automobile industry as an alternative method to resistance spot welding. Considering that various types of materials are joined in car body production, PVD coatings are used to increase the lifetime of the clinching tools. Hot dip galvanized steel sheets were used for joining by clinching method. The zirconium nitride ZrN PVD coating was deposited on the surfaces of clinching tool. The loss of cohesion properties of coating was observed at punch´s R0.2 radius after 300 clinched joints. FEM analysis was used to show the punch´s critical part when the tool is under load.

A Research on Properties of Concrete with Partial Replacement of Aggregates by Waste Plastic

Solid waste management is among the key environmental issues in India. The current research applies to the usage of or even recycled plastics as an alternative for rough aggregates in concrete. The primary goal of the analysis is to investigate the modification in the physical attributes of concrete by the inclusion of plastics to concrete. In addition to the physical qualities, winter qualities of the ensuing concrete may also be analyzed. The utilization of plastic aggregates was discovered to lead to the development of sturdy concrete. Additionally, with the plastics, the tensile and compressive strength of the concrete reduces. The foremost change brought approximately by using plastics is the fact that concrete's thermal conductivity is decreased due to the utilization of plastics. It is able to thus be declared recycled plastics are usually ut

ilized for thermal insulation of structures. Series of experiments had been performed in this current study for a comparison of the usage of Used Plastic as a replacement of sand in various different proportions. The main conclusions drawn was that the compressive strength increases with the inclusion of Used Plastic upto a certain proportions and then reduces the strength.

Paper Battery

The Batteries form a significant part of many electronic devices. Typical electrochemical batteries or cells convert chemical energy into electrical energy. Batteries based on the charging ability are classified into primary and secondary cells. Secondary cells are widely used because of their rechargeable nature. Presently, battery takes up a huge amount of space and contributes to a large part of the devices weight. There is strong recent interest in ultrathin, flexible, safe energy storage devices to meet the various design and power needs of modern gadgets. New research suggests that carbon nanotubes may eventually provide the best hope of implementing the flexible batteries which can shrink our gadgets even more. The paper batteries could meet the energy demands of the next generation gadgets. A paper battery is a flexible, ultra thin energy storage and production device formed by combining carbon nanotubes with a conventional sheet of cellulose based paper. A paper battery acts as both a high energy battery and super capacitor, combining two components that are separate in traditional electronics. This combination allo

ws the battery to provide both long term, steady power production and bursts of energy. Nontoxic, flexible paper batteries have the potential to power the next generation of electronics, medical devices and hybrid vehicles, allowing for radical new designs and medical technologies. The various types of batteries followed by the operation principle, manufacturing and working of paper batteries are discussed in detail.

A Comparative Overview on the Horizontal Axis and the Vertical Axis wind Turbines

Wind energy is a renewable and non conventional source of power generation. It is a clean source of energy with a minimum to zero pollution and thus prevents the environment from deteriorating. The wind energy generation is a giant step towards sustainable development and its usage increases day by day due to lack of fossil fuels. Since India is among the fastest growing country in terms of wind energy generation, it is planning for the installation of 175 GW power capacity by financial year 2022. Wind vitality is produced through wind turbines, wind turbines are likewise called as wind vitality convertors and they convert the dynamic vitality of wind into the mechanical vitality that can be utilized for crushing grains, siphoning water, and so fort
h or this active vitality can be changed over into electrical vitality by means of generator. Wind turbines are of two types Vertical axis wind turbines VAWTs and Horizontal axis wind turbines HAWTs . VAWTs are mostly used domestically where power consumption is low and the requirement is of economic rate. HAWTs are more preferably used where power requirement is high and requires high output efficiency. Thus this paper contains a comparison between VAWTs and HAWTs in terms of efficiency, the gearbox mechanism, blade rotation speed, noise, blade rotating space, etc.

Behaviour of Lustrous Carbon Additives in Green Sand Casting

The advent of High Volume, High Density and High Pressure Moulding Lines has changed the logistics of Molding Techniques and selection of additives significantly. Having 4 main ingredients, Base Sand, Bentonite, Lustrous Carbon Additives and Water, the properties of the Sand Mold resulting from this simple mixture to deliver target casting quality is complexly variable. Sand Control is an Art' as any foundry man will willingly emphasize. It is well accepted that no two foundry sand systems are the same. Even a single foundry Unit or foundry group having two or more molding lines, along with separate Sand preparation lines, whether in the same campus or in different locations, sand preparation and sand parameters will normally differ in each sand loop The role of quality in additives has therefore become even more important than when one could feel' the sand and make changes accordingly. Now, additives and ingredients have to be engineered precisely for the application with assured reproducibility in chemistry, grain fineness and other parameters.

To Study the Properties of Concrete with Partial Replacement of Aggregates with Industrial and Construction Waste

Natural resources are depleting worldwide while at the same time the generated wastes from the industry are increasing substantially. The sustainable development for construction involves the use of nonconventional and innovative materials, and recycling of waste materials in order to compensate the lack of natural resources and to find alternative ways conserving the environment. So, this paper presents the results of an experimental investigation carried out to evaluate the mechanical properties of concrete mixtures in which fine aggregate sand was replaced with Copper Slag CS while coarse aggregates was replaced by recycled concrete aggregate RCA from demolished structure. Both the fine and coarse aggregate were replaced with percentages 0 for the control mixture , 10 , 20 , 30 , of Copper Slag by weight. Tests were performed for properties of fresh concrete and hardened Concrete. Slump test was conducted to determine the workability of the various design concrete mix. Compressive strength and split tensile strength were determined at 7, 28 days of curing. The results indicate that workability decreases slightly with increase in Copper Slag percentage, though workability for the sample were within the prescribed limit for M25 concrete. Test results indicate significant improvement in the strength properties of plain concrete by the inclusion of CS alone while a reverse trend in observed for increasing percentage of RCA in the sample. The synergistic effect of CS and RCA on the designed sample concrete revealed that the percentage of CS is the more decisive factors than the percentage of RCA in deciding the performance of the concrete in terms of compressive and tensile strength. The outcomes of this research work showed that Copper slag and recycled concrete aggregate can be effectively used in structural concrete as a replacement of fine aggregate sand and coarse aggregate respectively. Futher, it substantiate towards sustainable construction approach because of its dual advantage of controlling menace of solid waste disposal along with its subsequent environmental pollution and increasing the cost efficiency and carbon efficiency of the product.

Investigation on the Effect of Intake Manifold Water Injection on the Performance of Single Cylinder Spark Ignition Engine

The emission from combustion of fuels of internal combustion engine have been major part of the air pollutant sources. Emission regulations in developed countries are becoming very strict and trade off strategies in order to reduce pollutants and it is need to reduce to reduce the fuel consumption. Lean combustion is one of the best ways to reduce the fuel consumption. However, it produces higher NOx emission. The reasons are high combustion temperature and excess of oxygen in cylinder. In order to reduce these conditions, water injection would be used. A decrease in temperature of the combustion process leads to a drop in NOx formation in engines. The use of water injection in the combustion process can be a part of solution to the problem of pollution control and fossil fuel depletion. Water is sprayed into the cylinder or incoming fuel air mixture, this may lead to effectively reduce the intake temperature. The reduction of intake temperature allows for more aggressive ignition timing to be employed, lead to the increase of power output and improve the fuel efficiency. In this paper, it is presented about the investigated finding results of water injection in the suction stroke of single cylinder four stroke cycle S.I engine. The effects of variable water injected amount on the engine performance under variable load conditions are presented in this paper. The study involved the injection of water into the intake manifold in the suction stroke at the angle from 26° ATDC to 78° ATDC with specified injection durations with various water injected amounts with one injector type and the another injector type with the variable water injection duration 78° ATDC to 130° ATDC . According to the tested performance finding results, the injected amount of water 0.065ml inject is the most suitable water injection amount with the analysis of constant speed with variable load based on better performance.

Artificial Intelligence in Power Station

With increased competitiveness in power generation industries, more resources are directed in optimizing plant operation, including fault detection and diagnosis. One of the most powerful tools in faults detection and diagnosis is artificial intelligence AI . Faults should be detected early so correct mitigation measures can be taken, whilst false alarms should be eschewed to avoid unnecessary interruption and downtime. For the last few decades there has been major interest towards intelligent condition monitoring system ICMS application in power plant especially with AI development particularly in artificial neural network ANN . ANN is based on quite simple principles, but takes advantage of their mathematical nature, non linear iteration to demonstrate powerful problem solving ability. With massive possibility and room for improvement in AI, the inspiration for researching them are apparent, and literally, hundreds of papers have been published, discussing the findings of hybrid AI for condition monitoring purposes. In this paper, the studies of
ANN and fuzzy logic application will be presented.

Study on Shallow and Deep Bin for a Constant Volume at Same Loading Condition a Review

The bunkers and silos made of reinforced concrete have almost replaced the steel storage structures. Concrete bins possess less maintenance and other architectural qualities greater than steel storage tanks. They are used to store materials like grain, cereals, coal cement etc. They both serve the purpose of bins.

Experimental Investigation of Properties of Concrete with Partial Replacement of Aggregates with Industrial and Construction Waste

Brush Less Dc Motor

Permanent Magnet PM Brushless DC BLDC motors have been widely used in industrial drives due to their high performance, high torque density and low acoustic noise. Cogging torque in these motors is caused by the reluctance change between the stator teeth and the rotor magnets. The cogging torque invariably affects the performance of the motor by giving rise to torque ripples, vibration, speed fluctuations and acoustic noise. The main objective of the research work is to explore the design methods to reduce the cogging torque in BLDC motors. This thesis consists of two parts the first part dealing with the reshaping of Rotor Permanent Magnets and the second with the Stator Slot Modifications both for reducing the cogging torque in BLDC motors. All th
e proposed techniques in this thesis have been designed using CAD package MagNet. The Finite Element Analysis FEA is applied to all the proposed design methods and the CAD results are compared for cogging torque reductions.

Comparative Study on Analysis and Design of Skew Bridge by STAAD and ETABS Software using Finite Element Method

Skew bridges are required to cross the drains at any angle other than normal. These can be helpful in making straight crossing or utilizing the available land where normal crossing are either impossible or not suitable. The slab bridges are uneconomical for large spans due to excessive design thickness but good for small spans due to its easy execution.Bending Moment result comparison between both software i.e. Staad Pro and Etabs show little variation For Span 15 m on Staad Pro and Etabs is 74.518 kn sq.mm and 68.40kn sq.mm respectively, For Span 17 m on Staad Pro and Etabs is 71.47 kn sq.mm and66.70 kn sq.mm respectively and For Span 19 m on Staa
d Pro and Etabs is 79.73 kn sq.mm and71.95 kn sq.mm respectively. At constant skew angle for varying span length the torsional bending moment gradually shift toward obtuse acute angle. In both the software i.e. STAAD and ETAB the ETAB give more appropriate result in compare to STAAD.

Analysis of the Characteristic behaviour of Concrete with Rice Husk Ash and Sugarcane Bagasse Ash

In the last decades, the use of residue in construction industry, especially as additives in concrete, has been subject of many researches as it may lead several improvements in the concrete properties, besides reducing the environmental pollution. The world rice harvest is estimated in 600 million tons per year. In terms of production sugarcane tops the crop ranking order. In India alone there grows 352 million tons of sugarcane and processed by 138 sugar mills. Considering that 22 of the grain is husk. So both the rice husk and sugarcane bagasse ash are complete waste and can be used as substitutes in concrete. The RHA and Sugarcane bagasse ash were trialed

to replace concrete with various ratios of RHA 0 , 10 , 20 , 30 and 40 with fine aggregates and SCBA 0 , 5 , 10 , 15 and 20 with cement. The water cement ratio in all the mixes was maintained at 0.55. From the experimentations it was inferred the modified specimen resulted in number of improvement of properties of cement. The observed increase in compressive strength of concrete is maximum, when the conventional concrete is modified with 15 SCBA and 30 RHA. With this percentage modification there seen increase in both 28 as well as 7 days compressive strength. There observed considerable reduction in slump value yet keeping the mix workable or in other words we can say that modification of concrete by SCBA and RHA do not adversely affect the workability. The 28 day split tensile strength test revealed that the inferences of compressive strength test and split tensile strength were somehow similar to one another. More the application of SCBA and RHA, lesser are their disposal problems and thus results in reduction of carbon credits by these waste products. This research promoted an ecological way of waste management and sustainable construction.
