Designing Class a Colpitts Oscillator and Analyzing the Effect of DC Power Supply on its Frequency Stability

Oscillator circuit is one that converts DC power into AC power at a frequency without any input signal. Oscillators are commonly used in communication systems to generate carrier frequency ranging from audio frequency 20 Hz to radio frequency 100G Hz. There are two main classes of oscillators, harmonic oscillator with sinusoidal output e.g. sine wave and relaxation oscillator with non sinusoidal output e.g. square wave, triangle wave, etc.. In this paper, class A Colpitts oscillator with LC feedback circuit is designed as a radio frequency oscillator to generate the output signals at 5M Hz. After designing, this circuit is simulated with Multisim software to analyze the effect of power supply on its frequency stability. Three supply voltages, 14 V, 12 V and 10 V are set as sample parameters to analyze the variation of frequency and voltage of the output signal. Changing DC power supply one by one as the above selected parameters in Multisim, the change of value of frequencies are noted and output signal results are also shown with the help of virtual oscillator.

Text Embedded System using LSB Method

An important topic in the exchange of confidential messages over the internet is the security of information conveyance. For instance, the producers and consumers of digital products are keen to know that their products are authentic and can be differentiated from those that are invalid. The science of encryption is the art of embedding data in audio files, images, videos or content in a way that would meet the above security needs. Steganography is a branch of data hiding science which aims to reach a describe level of security in the exchange of private military and commercial data which is not clear. This system is proposed to hide the text information files within the image based on the LSB method in order to meet security requirement such as confidential and integrity. The least significant bit is the bit which is farthest to the right and holds the least value in a multi bit binary number. This system is implemented by using C programming.

Speed Control System for BLDC Motor by using Direct Back EMF Detection Mathod

BLDC motors are used in many industrial and traction applications due to high efficiency, low maintenance and high torque. For good performance of BLDC motors, the accurate knowledge of the rotor position is required. The need for the rotor position information in BLDC motors have been satisfied by use of some form of rotor position sensors. But to reduce cost, complexity and also to improve reliability of the system, sensor less drive system is preferred. In this paper, the development of sensor less control system for BLDC motor using a direct back EMF detection method is presented and simulation for proposed system is done with the help of MATLAB SIMULINK.

Design of Grounding System for Substation

This paper presents 230 66 kV, substation grounding system and calculation results of required parameters. The grounding system is essential to protect people working or walking in the vicinity of earthed facilities and equipments against the danger of electric shock. This paper provides the floor surface either assures an effective insulation from earth potential or effectively equipment to a close mesh grid. Calculations of grounding grid system in the substation area which the top soil layer resistivity is less than the bottom layer resistivity, can lessen the number of ground rod used in the grid because the value of Ground Potential Rise GPR is insignificantly different. Essential equations are used in the design of grounding system to get desired parameters such as touch and step voltage criteria for safety, earth resistance, grid resistance, maximum grid current, minimum conductor size and electrode size, maximum fault current level and resistivity of soil. Calculations of three separate earthing body earth, neutral earth and main earthing are described.

Design and Implementation of Electronic Payment Gateway for Secure Online Payment System

In e commerce, main problem is to be more secure for payment systems and disputation between online merchant and customer. To solve this problem, this paper presents design and implementation of Electronics Payment Gateway for online payment system. In this system, a customer's financial information credit or debit card information is sent directly to a Payment Gateway also called Trusted Third Party, TTP instead of sending it through an online merchant. The Payment Gateway can support more secure for online payment system. In this system, Secure Socket Layer SSL with Rivest Shamir Adleman RSA is used to enhance more secure connection in payment process. In secure online payment system, end to end encryption is required to maintain the integrity of transactions carried out online. RSA is more secure because its factors are large integers and key size is large, which increases the security. The electronic payment gateway provides the confidentiality by using RSA for online payment transactions and trusted third party to recover the disputation between online merchant and customer.

Performance Analysis of Autonomous Hybrid Distributed Generation Based on Typical Control Strategies for Rural Electrification in Myanmar

It is undeniable fact that even though fossil fuels are likely more to fulfill the requirements of energy, the rare of natural resources and their harmful contents for the environment have directed people to search for new energy sources like renewable resources such as hydro power, biomass, wind, solar and other types of clean energy. In order to highlight the proposed methodology, PV Diesel generator DG with battery energy system BESS based on two typical control strategies, load following LF control strategy and cycle charging CC control strategy, have been analyzed by using HOMER Software to supply the Makyiyay village which is located at 22.02 north latitude and 96.56 east longitude in the Naungkhyo Township, Southern Shan State in Myanmar. The yearly average solar radiation of that area is 4.895kWh m2 day and it is very important to prepare a proper load data to meet the current situation of the target village which has 45 household numbers. By calculating the total load demand, the peak demand of that proposed village is 34kW. The fractions of energy production from PV array and diesel generator of the proposed PV Diesel BESS hybrid system using LF control strategy are 60 and 40 to meet the demand. Moreover, the proposed hybrid system based on LF control strategy provides the lowest TNPC, COE and carbon emission than the hybrid system based on CC control strategy according to the evaluation results. In contrast, the analysis of evaluation results shows that the PV Diesel ESS based on LF control choice is more economically possible than that system based on CC control.

Performance Analysis between H.323 and SIP over VoIP

There are a number of protocols that may be employed in order to provide the Voice over IP VoIP communication services. In VoIP system, H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol SIP are the two major standards. Both of these signaling protocols provide mechanisms for multimedia teleconferencing services. Although the two protocols architecture is quite similar, they have many differences. This system presents Voice Video over IP communication and summarizes the differences and performance of two major VoIP protocols, H.323 and SIP according to the packet delay variation, jitter, packet loss, and Packet end to end delay. It is found that both of them are non interoperable, approaching each other, their focus and applicability is still different. In this paper, the system is designed and configured by Graphical Network Simulator GNS3 and analyzed performance by Opnet Modeler Simulation.

Strength of Concrete Structure Partial Replacement of Sand by Copper Slag

The main measure of the structural quality of concrete is its compressive strength. This property of concrete is commonly considered in structural design. Depending on the mix and time and quality of the curing, the compressive strength of concrete can be obtained up to 95 MPa or more. Commercial production of concrete with ordinarily aggregate is usually in the 20 to 80 MPa range with the most common ranges for cast in place buildings from 20 to 40 Mpa. On the other hand, precast and pre stressed applications often expect the strengths of 25 55 MPa. Although concrete is not normally designed to resist direct tension, the knowledge of tensile strength is used to estimate the load under which cracking will develop. This is imputable to its influence on the formation of cracks and its propagation to the tension side of the reinforced concrete flexural member. Shear, torsion, and other actions also produce tensile stresses to the particular section of concrete members. In most cases, member behavior changes upon cracking. So the tension strength of concrete is also considered in the proportioning concrete member. This strength is of interest in designing of highway and airfield slabs as shear strength and resistance to cracking are very important to sustain such loading. The tensile strength of concrete is relatively low, about 10 to 15 of the compressive, occasionally 20.

Structural Behaviors of Reinforced Concrete Dome with Shell System under Various Loading Conditions

There are many different systems constructing dome structure. Among them, the shell system is the most popular in reinforcement concrete structure in these days. Therefore, it is necessary to know the structural behaviours of it. The objectives of this journal is to study the structural behaviours of the reinforced concrete dome structure with shell system under gravity loading and lateral loading in cyclone wind categories and various seismic zones. Seismic loads are considered from zone 1 to zone 4 based on UBC 1997.Wind loads are considered from I to V category as cyclone categories. Structural elements of RC dome structure are designed according to Building Code of American Concrete Institute ACI 318 99. With these member forces obtained from the SAP 2000 analysis, the design for all structural members will be performed according to ACI 318 99. The members of dome structure are designed as an intermediate moment resisting frame. The design of the shell beams is verified by using hand calculations with the output forces under the gravity loading and lateral loading obtained from the SAP2000 analysis. Equivalent static analysis procedure is used in this study. Based on the comparison of analysis results, it can be observed where the maximum deflection occurs along the meridian direction under seismic and wind loading conditions. Then, the axial force of dome structure is significant than any other forces in shell system. From the study of analysis results of both systems, it has been noticed that the bottom ring in shell system is essential to control the forces from the shell area.

Behavior of Concrete Using Copper Slag As A Strength Parameter in Low Cost Construction Work

The value of concrete in present society cannot be underestimated. We can see concrete structures everywhere, such as buildings, roads, bridges, and dams. There is no escaping the impact concrete makes on your everyday life. Concrete is a composite material which is made up of filler and a binder. Typical concrete is a mixture of fine aggregate sand, coarse aggregate rock, cement, and water. Cement and lime are usually used as binding materials, while the sand binder is mixed as fine aggregates and crushed stones, gravel, broken bricks clinker is employed as coarse aggregates. The concrete having cement, sand and coarse aggregates mix up in an appropriate percentage in addition to water is called cement concrete. In this kind of concrete, cement is used as a binding substance, sand as fine aggregates and gravel, crushed stones as coarse aggregates. An investigation relating to the use of byproducts to enhance the functions of concrete has been about for many years. In the recent years, the researchers have been made to use industry by products such as fly ash, silica fume, ground granulated blast furnace slag, glass cullet, etc., in concrete production and civil applications. The potential uses of industrial byproducts in concrete or as a partial aggregate substitution or as a partial cement substitution depending on their chemical composition and grain size, The utilization of these materials in concrete comes from the environmental constraints in the safe disposal of these products. Big interest is being focused on the environment and safeguarding of natural resources and recycling of waste materials. Various industries are producing a significant number of products which incorporate residues such as reclaimed aggregates, reclaimed asphalt pavement, foundry sand, copper slag, fly ash, glass cullet, polyethylene terephthalate, high density polyethylene HDPE, unplasticized polyvinyl chloride UPVC, plasticized polyvinyl chloride PPVC, low density polyethylene LDPE, polypropylene PP, polystyrene PS, expanded polystyrene UPS.

Study on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Dispersive Soil

This paper deals with determination of physical and mechanical properties of dispersive soil. Soil is the foundation material which supports loads from the overlaying structure. Soil dispersivity is mainly due to the presence of exchangeable sodium present in the structure. Dispersive soils are identified by an unstable structure, easily flocculated in water, and very erodible. Using dispersive clay soils in hydraulic structures, embankment dams, or other structures such as roadway embankments can cause serious engineering problems if these soils are not identified and used appropriately. Some important parameters of dispersive soil obtained from laboratory testing are investigated in this paper. Soil sample is taken from Mandalay at about 3ft depth. To determine physical properties of soil, water content determination, specific gravity test, grain size analysis, Atterberg limits test, crumb test. Standard Proctor compaction test, Unconfined Compression Strength UCS test are carried out to determine mechanical properties of soil. According to Unified Soil Classification System, the studied soil is in CH group and group name is lean clay with sand. From crumb test, sample has grade 4. Therefore, the studied soil is highly dispersive.

Dynamic Analysis of Fourteen Storeyed Y Shaped High Rise Reinforced Concrete Building with Shear Walls

The performance of the fourteen storeyed Y shaped high rise reinforced concrete building in seismic zone 4 has been investigated using dynamic analysis with response spectrum. The building is designed with dual system containing special moment resisting frame SMRF and shear walls. Structural Engineering Software ETABS is used for analysis and design of building. The design of superstructure is checked for sliding resistance, overturning effect, P effect, storey drift and irregularity. Stability check for the structure without shear wall is satisfactory. But, building taller than 10 stories is not adequate to give the lateral stiffness from frame action. Building with core shear wall structure and planar shear walls are proposed. After analyzing and checking for the stability, the results of the three structures with and without shear walls are presented.

Design Calculation of Penstock and Nozzle for 5kW Pelton Turbine Micro Hydropower Plant

This paper provides to design penstock and nozzle for 5kW Pelton turbine micro hydropower plant for household applications. The other objective of this paper is to develop the life inhabitant living in rural areas by the supply of required electricity from the natural resources of water to provide the development of design calculation of penstock, to reduce the environmental fuel. Water from the storage reservoir is flow through penstock to the power house. Penstocks carry the water under pressure from the storage reservoir to the turbine. When the turbine is operating without a correct penstock, the required power cannot be produced efficiency since water coming from penstock is not capable to reach into the runner in full amount due to splash sideways due to friction. Therefore selection of material of penstock is necessary to install in the turbine. In this paper, the basic theory of hydropower penstock and nozzle are calculated.

Power Quality Improvement, Harmonic Elimination and Load Balancing in Industrial Power System

Non linear loads are increasingly more abundant in commercial, residential and industrial sector and their percentage of the total load are growing steadily. The increasing uses of non linear loads are becoming more harmonic problems at utilities and customers sides. The harmonic problems cause damage of system equipment and low power quality. The most appropriate solution to mitigate this issue is passive filter. Passive filters are typically composed by inductors, capacitors and resistors which are used for mitigating harmonic distortions, power factor correction and improving power quality. In this paper, simulation models are implemented for mitigating harmonic distortions by applying passive filter at No 3 .Steel Mill Ywama, Yangon in distribution system. Passive filters are installing at point of common coupling PCC of 11kV feeder in distribution system to reduce the harmonic distortion within IEEE 519 1992 standards. THD is used as the harmonic index to study the effect of harmonic distortions. In this paper, the performance of the designed filter in this network and THD are obtained from simulation using MATLAB.
