Automatic Regulation and Monitoring of CPM Machine

The aim of this project is empowered by adding independency to the individuals during Continuous Passive Motion. In this project, a Continuous Passive Motion CPM Machine is designed that will enable the patient to move their leg continuously. This project is for measuring the muscle oxygen of the patient who is using CPM and to control the motion. The oxygen level is measured by using the Near Infrared spectroscopic principle and is attached as a device to the patient and it continuously monitors the oxygen level. This is performed after surgeries like total knee replacement and anterior circulate ligament reconstruction. Patient who has undergone these surgeries must be treated with CPM machine. But the machine could not identify the tearing of the muscles during the procedure and this could lead to post surgical trauma. To prevent these damages to the muscles NIRS is attached to this mechanism. It detects the oxy hemoglobin level in the tissues and stops the machine when the muscle oxygen reaches the threshold value 90 mmHg . The potentiometer is used to vary the oxygen level manually since the oxygen level below the threshold cannot be measured practically. The machine continuously works when the oxygen level is above the threshold. Moreover, ESP8266 module is used to monitor the oxygen level continuously and the data is stored in the cloud for future references.

A Review on the Sedimentation Problem in River Basins

River sedimentation is a global concern evidenced by a number of studies conducted. Now, that climate change is being experienced the rapid changes on the river landscape is manifestly observed. As unveiled, natural evolution of landscape and human activities are the two main factors affecting this phenomenon. Different methods of determination of the volume of sediments transported some are employed. Some studies used classic methods utilizing sophisticated apparatus while others artificial intelligence mode of sediment transport prediction. Celeste A.

Attitude of Students towards Integral Calculus through the Screening Examination Strategy

One thing that may affect the students’ perception of mathematics is the attitude of the students towards the subject. This study was conducted to assess the attitude of students towards integral calculus. The subjects of this study were the 94 second year students of the College of Engineering taking up BSAE, BSCE, BSEE and BSME who were enrolled in Integral Calculus. This group of students were a combination of the first timer and repeaters in Integral Calculus. This were the students who were not screened out from the screening examination conducted by the researcher. It employed the descriptive correlational method using the frequency counts, weighted means and analysis of variance. The instrument used in this study was the attitude scale. This instrument was administered to the students before the first screening examination and after the last screening examination. Results revealed that students have favourable attitudes towards integral calculus before and after the screening examination strategy. However, results also revealed that the profile of the students in terms of gender, number of times the student took the subject and the students’ performance on the prerequisite subject has nothing to do or did not influence the attitudes of the students towards the subject.

Errors Committed in Integral Calculus Basis for a Review Guide

This study determined the errors of engineering students in Integral Calculus in the University of Eastern Philippines UEP , Catarman, Northern Samar as basis in developing a review guide. It adopted a developmental research design. A total of 162 second year Engineering students taking up Integral Calculus, who were enrolled on the Second Semester of School Year 2016 2017,were the respondents of this study. The findings of this study show that majority of the students in Integral Calculus got “fair” to “passing” grades in their pre requisite subjects and that most of the students taking up Integral Calculus are first time takers. As shown in the results, the students had hard time understanding Integral Calculus concepts which comprises the majority of the total errors committed. The other errors committed were concepts in Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Basic Mathematics, Differential Calculus and Plane Trigonometry and due to carelessness in their solutions. These findings indicate that for the preliminary topics in Integral Calculus, the pre requisite subject where most of the students committed errors is Algebra. This can be attributed to some difficulty they are experiencing in recalling the concepts learned in this subject. The findings also show that for the higher integration techniques topics in Integral Calculus, most students are having hard time understanding these integration concepts. And in application of integration concepts in finding plane areas under and between curves and volumes of revolutions, the students lack the skills in sketching the graph. The development of a review guide for remedial instruction prior to and at the early part of the subject Integral Calculus, generally, aims to help the students, taking up Integral Calculus, in recollecting the concepts in its pre requisite subjects. The topics included are the identified concepts in pre Integral Calculus subjects where the engineering students commonly commit errors.

Utilizing Viola Jones with Haar Cascade Along with Neural Networks for Face Detection and Recognition

Viola– Jones object detection frameworkintroduced in 2001 by Dr. Paul Viola and Dr. Michael Jones is an object detection framework which can be trained for detecting a variety of object classes .It is primarily used for the problem of face detection. In most video recording or surveillance systems it became impossible for human beings to retrieve large image datasets and analyze them for potential results. Now a days accurate facial recognition has a great impact in our ecosystem be it face unlock or face recognition in cameras for auto adjust. Implemented in two stages our proposed methodology will first utilize one of the widely accepted methods to detect faces i.e. viola Jones which utilizes Haar Classifiers and in the second stage we will recognise the face using Principal Component Analysis PCA and Feed Forward Neural Network. Bio ID Face Database is used as a training database. Test is conducted on webcam video and image snapshots.

Evolution of Quantitative Effects of Construction Changes on Labor Productivity, Time and Cost Control Using Building Information Modeling

In spite of the fact that the development business has been advancing for quite a long time and analysts have been looking for imaginative answers for quite a long time, different difficulties actually exist for making the development cycle quicker, more secure, less expensive, and more precise. Nonetheless, it is presently accepted that Building Information Modeling BIM can prompt more noteworthy productivity through the gradual cooperation. The information in BIM framework are incredibly helpful and can be produced to streamline the task conveyance measures. Since BIM fabricates the arrangement cost and requires a significant desire to assimilate data, adventure individuals are totally stressed over the endeavor cost, forestalling the gathering of BIM for the undertaking transport. The rise of Building Information Model BIM , an elective innovation is accepted to fathom issues identified with venture cost and time control as it productively expands coordinated effort between partners. The point of this paper is to audit and sum up the reasons for deferral and cost overwhelm in development enterprises, which are the fundamental driver of debates and deserting of ventures in the business. It was discovered that postponements and cost overwhelm eat profound into the business and leave the development business with an awful picture for quite a long time even with quick headway in innovation.

Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Different Shaped Dimpled Protrusioned Pin Fin Wedge Duct for Turbine Blade using CFD

The tip of the turbine blade is exposed to gas at high temperatures and speeds. Cooling in this region has a significant impact on the safety of the turbine blade. Generally, internal convective cooling and external film cooling are simultaneously used for cooling in the blade tip region. For some turbine blades, only an internal cooling channel is used so that the cooling of the blade tip is completely dependent on internal convective cooling. In recent years, in the tip region of the turbine blade, multiple augmentation devices such as fins, ribs, pins, and dimples protrusions have gained a lot of attention to enhance heat transfer. Many computational simulations have been conducted in the meantime. The cooling performance of the blade inner tip area should be further investigated on the basis of analysis, especially when organised with a heat transfer enhancement structure. A very few studies have focused on the flow structure and heat transfer in a pin fin wedge duct with dimples protrusions. A wedge duct is explored by a numerical process in this present work, with the result of various dimples or protrusion shapes placed on the heated end wall surface. The model of a wedge duct on Workbench of ANSYS 17.0 Program, with different shapes of dimples or protrusions for turbine blade. It is observed that the Pin fin dimple wedge duct with trapezoidal dimples or protrusions form produces stronger heat transfer enhancement due to flow acceleration, increase in the region of impingement and shrinkage in the dimple of the flow recirculation field.
