Numerical Investigation of Solar Air Heater Duct using Broken‘S’ Shaped Ribs Roughness on Absorber Plate

The solar air heater has an important place among solar heat collectors. It can be used as sub systems in many systems meant for the utilization of solar energy. Possible applications of solar air heaters are drying or curing of agricultural products, space heating for comfort regeneration of dehumidifying agents, seasoning of timber, curing of industrial products such as plastics. When air at high temperature is required the design of a heater becomes complicated and very costly. As far as the ultimate application for heating air to maintain a comfortable environment is concerned, the solar air heater is the most logical choice. In general solar heaters are quite suitable for low and moderate temperatures application as their design is simple. These solar air heaters have low heat transfer efficiency which can be improved using geometrical modifications like optimizing duct geometry or adding artificial roughness. The use of artificial roughness on the underside of the absorber plate is an effective and economic way to improve the thermal performance of a solar air heater. Several experimental investigations, involving different types of roughness elements, have been carried out to improve the heat transfer from the absorber plate to air flowing in solar air heaters. In this paper the CFD analysis on heat transfer and friction in rectangular ducts roughened with broken‘S’ shaped ribs has been presented. The relative gap width g e is varied from 0.5 to 2.5 and other parameter are constant. The effects of gap width g e on Nusselt number, friction factor and thermo hydraulic performance parameter have been discussed and results compared with smooth duct under similar conditions. It is found that the maximum heat transfer and friction characteristic at a relative gap width of 1.

A Trial of Fly Ash with the Mix of Nano Silica for Deviation of Strength in Concrete

The primary elements of aggregate in concrete are to settle the measurements of the substantial part by decreasing the volumetric changes because of drying shrinkage of the bond water glue in solidified concrete, to diminish the warmth of hydration, and to go about as a filler material to streamline in the using of concrete. Since aggregate is an extraordinary, important piece of concrete, its qualities fundamentally influence crisp concretes workability, solidness, strength, warm properties, and solidified concrete unit weight. Concrete is one of the famous construction materials available today. Concrete is a composite of crushed rock, sand, gravel, or other mixture control composed by a hardened blend of cement and water. Concrete has found use in all construction types, from highway, canal, bridge, and dams to the most beautiful and artistic buildings. Its formed by mixing cement, coarse and fine aggregates, water, and additives in a certain prescribed proportion. Total is one of the main ingredients in concrete. It covers more than 60 75 of the overall volume of any concrete mix.

Parametric Evaluation of Tall Structure with Various Lateral Load Resisting Systems Subjected to Dynamic Loadings

The high rise buildings are majorly suffering with seismic forces, it can be found out by displacement parameter. The more the displacement the lesser will be the stiffness of the structure. The static analysis is having higher displacement value than response spectrum analysis. The increase in percentage is about 17 . This will increase the construction cost due to increase in stiffness. The base shear value increases with increase in weight of the structure. However, the diagrid structure seems to be having lesser weight than all other models. From the overall analysis it is proved that, diagrid structure is very much effective than any other structure. However, in case of constraint in providing diagrid due to its architectural features, the outrigger system with bracing will be very much effective.

Technology Post COVID19 A Review

COVID 19 has been a caution light worldwide. We must realise that this calamity or crisis happen and is inevitable. It has provoked previously inconceivable uses of technology in all walks of life. Among the socio economic disturbance caused by covid 19, technology will play a vital role in rebuilding the future. This technology transformation or reshaping will result in a contact less society. The current collaboration tools provide for substandard interactions. This review article is an attempt to check out the importance of technology post COVID 19 so that another pandemic would see mankind facing it with modern technologies.

Performance Analysis of Sensor Node Energy in Wireless Sensor Networks A Perspective Analysis

Theoretical In the previous many years, Wireless Sensor Network WSN has become a wide territory of exploration. In WSN, various sensor hubs are arbitrarily arrangement with various energy level. Energy goes about as force source and is accessible to every sensor hub in restricted amount. The restricting element is that sensor hubs are energy compelled and reviving or supplanting battery is exorbitant and complex cycle. This paper investigates the distinctive energy utilization factors which impact the lifetime and execution of the WSNs. The primary variables which impact the energy utilization in WSNs are versatility, load adjusting, dependability, correspondence, crash, over hearing, ideal posting and inactivity. Specialists have demonstrated that the hub close to sink hub release fastly. Aside from these, a large portion of the energy is expended during the exchange of information from sender to recipient. In this paper exertion is made to dissect the impact of various variables on energy utilization in WSNs.

Investigation of Wear Behavior of Rice Husk Filled Cotton Fiber Reinforced Polyester Composites

Usage of natural fiber reinforced polymeric composites has drastically increased in recent years for industrial applications. In this investigation, Composite specimens were prepared with polyester resin, cotton polyester resin, and cotton polyester resin with rice husk filler. The hand layup method was used to prepare composite sheets with specially prepared steel die. The specimens were prepared as per ASTMG99 standards and Friction coefficient and wear rate were measured for the proposed materials under dry sliding contact with steel counter face. Pin on disc wear testing machine used to perform the proposed tribological measurement and 20,40, and 60N applied normal loads.

Influence of Blanching on the Drying Characteristics of Convective Hot Air Dried Aerial Yam

A research on the drying characteristics of aerial yam using convectional hot air was done. The raw unblanched and blanched samples were dried using convectional hot air. Fan speed, temperature and slice thickness were varied to determine the change in moisture content. The Fourier transform infrared FTIR and scanning electron microscopy SEM were done to determine the functional groups and surface morphology respectively for each sample. FTIR results revealed the presence of some important functional groups such as esters, ethers and nitro compounds, and shows that drying at this temperatures 40 70oC does not alter the nutrient components of this variety of yam. The SEM results showed that important cells were not destroyed at the drying temperature. Batch studies on the drying process also showed that increase in temperature and air speed increased the drying process, but decreases with increase in slice thickness. Effect of drying rate on the sample showed that drying rate increase with increase in temperature and air speed but decrease with increase in slice thickness. After 90 minutes of drying, the drying rate of the 2 mm slice thickness was 0.353 g g.min for drying of aerial yam while for 4 mm and 6 mm slice thickness, the drying rate were 0.261 and 0.169 g g.min respectively, for effect of drying rate on sample thickness. It showed also that blanched aerial yam sampleshad a higher drying rate than the unblanched aerial yam sample at the same conditions. Therefore, the economic advantages of this yam species can be optimized by blanching.
