Together with new and improved forms of CHEs, these advances are an excellent opportunity to bring compact heat exchangers into the process industry, particularly where saving energy is an essential target. High energy prices are also encouraging companies to use energy saving strategies at their plants as much as possible. During decades, attempts to increase heat transfer, decrease heat transfer times and eventually improve energy efficiency have been made. Recent advancements in nanotechnology have facilitated the creation of a new type of liquids called nanofluids. Most theoretical and computational experiments have shown that nanofluids demonstrate an improved coefficient of heat transfer relative to their base fluid. This CFD research explores the impact on the performance of straight square compact heat exchangers from Al2O3 water nanofluid flow. The Al2O3 water nanofluids with three weight fractions of nanoparticles i.e. 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 percent were used. The effect of nanofluid were measured and observed to influence the heat transfer and flow of fluids in a straight square compact heat exchanger. The following conclusions can be drawn based on the provided results, the thermal conductance are approximately 29 higher and the heat transfer are approximately 35 higher in comparison with the conventional fluid i.e. water.

Determination of Range of Splash of Testing Fluid during Hydro Testing of Knife Gate Valve

An Experimental Study on Stabilization of Clayey Soils by using Chrome Lignite

Use of natural Coal waste as soil reinforcement is gaining much attention by geotechnical engineers as it has inherent advantage with regard to its availability, cost and does not pose environmental hazard on the long run. Lignite when used as a soil reinforcement is found to increase peak compressive strength, shear strength, and ductility of the soil. In the present experimental study, un drained tri axial tests were conducted on black cotton soil BC Soil mixed with Lignite and the effect of treatment on peak deviator stress and shear parameters were studied. The results of the experimental investigation found that Lignite as reinforcement to BC soil causes significant increase in peak deviator stress. Increase in of lignite increases cohesion and angle of internal friction. Black cotton soil and Lignite ash has prepared by varying of different proportions with respect to dry the density.

A Research on Investigation of Various Properties of Metakaolin Based Concrete

Concrete is probably the most extensively used construction material in the word .However, environmental concerns both in terms of damaged caused by the extraction of raw material and co2 emission during cement manufacturing have brought pressure to reduce cement consumption by the use of supplementary material. The utilization of calcined clay, in the form of metakaolin MK in the concrete has received considerable attention in recent years . On this, subject, an experimental investigation on cement concrete using metakaolin has been conducted. The cement is replaced with 10 , 15 , 20 , and 25 metakaolin by weight of cement. Concrete cubes and beams are tested at the age of 7 days and 28 days. The study focuses on the compressive strength and flexural strength performance of the blended concrete containing different percentage of metakaolin .In addition, evaluation of durability properties like soundness, abrasion resistance, and impact resistance is also included in the study. The strength performance of metakaolin –concrete is compared with the performance of plain concrete. The results of the study show that the strength development of concrete blended with metakaolin is enhanced. The 20 replacement with metakaolin is found to be the most efficient replacement leading to maximum enhancement in the strength and durability properties of concrete.
