Study and Analysis of Insulator used in Substation

The main purpose of this paper was that to compare design of post insulators and their performance of different post insulator the relative performance of different insulator materials used in substation as lightning arrester, current transformer and potential transformer. Insulators are used to protect from the dangerous effects of electricity flowing through conductors. This paper presents the role of post insulators are key components of most electrical substation equipment and their features and ability are changing due to the difference type of electrical power incoming line and pollution level of their rating. The peak voltage rating of each arrester at 132 kV is 118.6 kV, creepage distance is 2904 mm and maximum continuous operating voltage is 94.88 kV. The creepage distance of current transformer and potential transformer at 132 kV are 4065 mm. Therefore, in this paper, the effects of material changes, rating changes, pollution level changes of lightning arrester, current transformer and potential transformer in substation are described. Then, analysis and discussion of lightning arrester and instrument transformer are described in this paper.

Smart Blind Walking Stick Using Arduino

This system is based on sensors and microcontroller. The features are to detect the obstacle for collision avoidance and it detects the object in directions left, right, down and front. The system is composed of the ultrasonic sensor, IR sensor and Arduino Mega 2560. It has a low cost and lightweight system design. By using these three items, it senses the distance with sensors and the blind stick frame is designed. And then send distance data to Arduino mega2560 controller. In emergency situations, the blind walker knows the distance or safe area for themselves.

RFID Based Rotary Car Parking System

This paper deals with the manufacturing of a Prototype of Rotary Car Parking System using Sensors. Lack of space availability has always been a problem in urban areas and major cities and to add to it there are cars parked callously on the streets that further limit the space. In order to handle the issue of parking in busy places various types of vehicle parking systems are used worldwide Rotary Automated Car Parking System and many more. This thesis work is aimed to develop a scale down working model of a car parking system which will reduce the excess use of land space. This total prototype is powered by unipolar stepper motor. This model also uses a RFID Tag and Reader. When the car comes on the ramp the switch will be activated and the pallet comes to carry the vehicle. When the switch will be operated by the operator, sprockets starts to rotate and the new space will be adjusted for new vehicle. Planners, developers, architects are finding out solutions to tackle this problem of parking, so took this opportunity to bring this technology of an automated parking system which will reduce a lot of land space for parking purpose. By testing and analyzing the working model definitely get the view to develop the parking lots at difficult and busy commercial places.

Speed Control System of Induction Motor by using Direct Torque Control Method used in Escalator

Escalator is useful and act in the important part to carry passengers to the targeted floors of building. Every escalator must be driven by its own motor and this motor speed must be controled. To drive escalator with a constant speed, direct torque control technique is used to drive three phase squirrel cage induction motor. In this paper, the development of speed control system for three phase squirrel cage induction motor using a direct torque control method is presented and simulation for proposed system is done with the help of MATLAB SIMULINK.

Analysis of Three Phase Transformer Parallel Operation and Circulating Current

Parallel operation of transformers is needed when the load is increased and it exceeds the capacity of the existing transformer, if multiple transformers are running in parallel and a fault occurs in one transformer, then the other parallel transformers still continue to serve the load. The reliability is increased with parallel operation than to have a single larger unit. The cost associated with maintaining the spares is less when two transformers are connected in parallel. For parallel connection of transformers, primary windings are connected source bus bars and secondary windings are connected to the load bus bars. The conditions of connecting transformers in parallel and loading considerations when turn ratios, impedances and MVA ratings are different. Load division or load sharing store excess electrical power during low demand periods for release as demand rises. The goal would be for the power supply system to see a load factor of 1. In this thesis, two 100MVA transformers are connected in parallel. The 230 kV to 33 kV in Substation is used as the location to study and analyze the load division and circulating current of parallel transformer operation. The parallel operation provides more reliability. So, it is used in a substation. The value of the load division and circulating current are calculated with the case of the parallel transformer in this paper.

Analysis of on Load Tap Changing Transformer for Substation

On load tap changing transformers play important roles in any modern power system since they allow voltages to be maintained at desired levels despite load changes. Traditionally, on load tap changer is a complex mechanical device, which has some deficiencies. On load tap changer of a transformer is presented, which can eliminate excessive conduction losses and suppress the arcing in the diverter switch, which is inherent in traditional on load transformer tap changers. The OLTC provides uninterrupted voltage is regulation of transformers under load. The transformer is equipped with a tapped winding whose tappings are connected with the tap selector of the OLTC. Most of the current commercially available automatic voltage regulators, just measure the low voltage side of the power transformer in order to control OLTC position. In this to improve tap changer control in order to perform properly also during a stressed situation in the 230 33 kV regulating power transformer for the substation.

Implementation of Automatic Door Opening System with Entry Counter for University Library

Automation is the technology by which a procedure or process is performed with minimal human assistance. This paper presents the implementation of automatic door opening system with entry counter for university library. It can be used not only for automatic door opening but also for counting entry person. It consists of entry unit and exit unit. Each unit consists of Arduino Uno, PIR Passive Infrared sensor and LCD Liquid Crystal Display . In entry unit, seven segment display is used as an entry counter to show the number of entry person. Welcome message and door condition are displayed on LCD. In exit unit, RTC Real Time Clock module shows a format of date and time on LCD. Quotes about library are also displayed on LCD.
