Development of Android Controlled AC Dim Light

The light level in a room has a huge effect on one's mood and productivity. Lighting can contribute to your alertness and awakeness in the mornings, and it can either entice you to feel tired or keep you up all night. With all of these discoveries on the effects of lighting, it is becoming more and more important to be able to control lighting. In this paper, Bluetooth controlled AC dim light is constructed using TRIAC. The android application is developed using JDK in Android Eclipse which will control the on off function of the light bulb. Bluetooth wireless communication has been rising in popularity nowadays due to its low cost and wide range of applications. Moreover, most modern phones have Bluetooth, making it excellent controllers for Bluetooth supported devices. Serial data sent from the Android application is received by the Bluetooth receiver interfaced to the Arduino. Zero cross detection method is used for TRIAC gate trigger and Arduino uses serial data to generate appropriate pulses at a specific angle for TRIAC. Isolation between Arduino and ac source is considered and overall system is implemented using simulation and practical approaches.

Performance Comparison of Different Routing Protocols for Wireless Sensor Network in Air Pollution Area

Wireless sensor network is a wireless network consisting of small nodes with sensing, computation, and wireless communication capabilities. One of the most important issues in Wireless sensor networks WSNs is collecting and processing data perceived from the environment and sending that data to be processed and evaluated. Routing data towards the destination node is a fundamental task in WSNs. The data exchange is supported by multihop communications. Routing protocols are in charge of discovering and maintaining the routes in the networks. In this research work, the performance of the different routing protocols in wireless sensor network based on air pollution area is derived. Sensor nodes are deployed in two types of scenario grid and random. And, simulation result outcomes are evaluated using the different routing protocols like Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector AODV Destination Sequenced Distance Vector Routing DSDV and Dynamic Source Routing DSR in two scenarios. This system is implemented in Network Simulator NS2. The main focus of this paper is to evaluate the performance of the different routing protocols in random scenarios. The comparison between three different routing protocols is simulated between 10, 50 and 100 nodes.

Nonlinear Modeling and System Identification of a DC Gear Motor with Unknown Parameters

Modeling and identification of industrial systems is an essential stage in practical control design and applications. The paper presents linear, state space, nonlinear modeling and identification of a DC gear motor with real time experiments. The main aim of this research is to use the concept of modeling and System Identification method for observing the greater accuracy and better fitness system model, and validate it by applying various data sets of the hardware experiment. System Identification deals with the problem of building mathematical models of dynamical systems based on observed data from the systems. The methodology is based on results obtained from the simulation of theoretical concepts, which are then validated by repeating experiments on the motor. It is very important to do this validation because sometimes these theoretical concepts are not able to fully capture the nature of the physical elements, and both results may differ. Proceeding in this way, it can guarantee a greater extent that the results are correct.

Property of Transient Particle Number Emissions from Diesel Engines with Biodiesel Fuel for Mechanical Engineering

Particle number emissions from a light duty vehicle diesel engine during transient state operating conditions were studied. Test fuels were petroleum diesel, pure Jatropha biodiesel, B20 and B50 biodiesel blend fuels. The results show the number of nucleation mode particles from the engine increases when using petroleum diesel during the transient operating condition Increasing torque at constant speeds . The number of accumulation mode particles increases at the initial stage of the transient process and then descends with increasing torque. The total particle number increases continuously with torque during the transient operating condition, and accumulation mode particles play an important role in the beginning, and nucleation mode particles dominate the later part of the transient operating condition. Dynamic characteristics of particle number using lower biodiesel blend during the transient process is similar to that of petroleum diesel, whereas higher biodiesel blends show distinct differences, and the total particle number and nucleation mode particle number using B50 and pure biodiesel fuels are obviously larger than pure diesel from beginning to end, while the accumulation mode particle number keeps smaller. For the pure biodiesel fuel, the nucleation mode particle number rapidly ascends until the end of the transient process, and accumulation mode particle number continuously descends.

Static Structural Analysis of Vented and Non Vented Disc Brake

The current study essentially deals with the modeling and analyzing vented and non vented disc brake by CATIA and ANSYS. Finite element models of the brake disc are shaped with CATIA and simulated using ANSYS which is based on the finite element method. This study Structural analysis is done so as to get the strength of the disc brake. Here we discuss disc brake which is used in many vehicles. The stresses and variations developed in vented and non vented disc brakes are discussed using ANSYS software. Disc gets stressed when used in slowing down or stopping the vehicle. So that by using Ansys we can observe variations between stresses of vented and non vented disc brake. Disc brakes are mostly used on front wheels in two wheelers, hatchback cars and also widely used on both front and rear wheels of high end cars. The main aim of this paper is to minimize the Total deformation, Directional deformation, Equivalent stress and strain with best suited Material Analysis is done on both Vented and non vented disc brake. The Geometry of the models is carried out in the CATIA V5 R20 Software and is designed in Mechanical Design. The analysis part is done by using ANSYS R14.5 Software.

Differential Protection of Power Transformer in Substation

Protection scheme required for the protection of power system components against abnormal conditions such as faults etc., and that essentially consists of protective relaying and circuit breaker. Protective relay senses the fault and determines the location of fault. Then, protective relay sends the tripping command to the circuit breaker. Therefore, proper care should be taken in designing and selecting an appropriate relay which is reliable, efficient and fast in operation. The voltage transformer and current transformer continuously measure the voltage and current of an electrical system and are responsible to give feedback signals to the relays to enable then to detect abnormal conditions. This paper describes differential protection for power transformer, especially the rating of purposed system is 100 MVA, 230 kV 33 kV at substation.

Feasibility Study on Battery Energy Storage System for Mini grid

Mini grids defined as a set of electricity generators and battery energy storage system is connected between the load side and the source side. A key feature of mini grids is that they can operate autonomously with no connection to a centralized grid. Gaw Cho village, Sagaing Division, Myanmar is selected because of the higher potential of solar energy. This paper presents the unbalance condition between the load side and the source side because the solar energy is changing under weather condition. Diesel generator is used as a backup system for this proposed area but the operation of the fuel cost increased for long term period. Here, battery energy storage system is used as a secondary supplier to balance between them. This paper focus on to used HOMER software for pointing out the result outcome not be oversizing the system requirement. Using real time data, storage characteristics and HOMER simulations, optimal sizing for both approaches were established. A well design min grid offered available tool for the rural electrification system.
