Web Server Based Solar Parameters Monitoring using Arduino

Nowadays renewable energy systems are becoming best way to generate electricity. With advancement of technologies the cost of renewable energy equipment is going down globally encouraging large scale solar photovoltaic installations. Major part of renewable energy is solar energy. The implementation of new cost effective methodology based on technology to monitor a solar parameters for performance evaluation using open source tools and resources like Arduino and local Web Server which provides data on Web to monitor the parameters. Local Web provides all services for free of cost and monitoring can saves lot of investment on Web designing and maintenance. This focus on low cost system with easy interface so that common people who installs roof top solar plants also monitors easily without depending on service providing companies. This will facilitate preventive maintenance, fault detection of the solar panel in addition to real time monitoring. This research details the development of an open source device to monitoring system for remote solar panel systems.

Implementation of Doppler Radar Based Vehicle Speed Detection System

Nowadays, vehicular accidents have been increasing from day to day. Most of them are the cause of over speeding. This thesis describes the Arduino based vehicle speed detection system using Doppler radar. The primary goal of this system is to design of the vehicle speed detector using Doppler radar which is used to reduce the amount of accidents caused by over speeding. In this system, continuous wave CW Doppler radar which is a special case that only provides a velocity output is used as a sensor and the microcontroller is used to calculate the speed of the vehicle. Moreover, the amplifier is used to amplify the voltage level to drive the microcontroller as the sensor output is in micro volts. It is also included LCD display to indicate the speed level. A Doppler radar that can determine the frequency shift that occurs in electromagnetic waves due to the motion of scatters toward or away from the observer through measurement of the phase change that occurs in electromagnetic waves during a series of pulses. The Doppler frequency is negative for objects receding from the radar. The Doppler frequency is positive for objects approaching the radar. This system can be acceptable in real time applications because it is independent of temperature, humidity, noise airflow, dust, light, etc. The results of design are tested and follow through realization. Each of the implementation is evaluated and these evaluations lead to the conclusion that the design is able to achieve high accuracy of the speed. The major components of the design are Doppler radar HB100, Arduino Uno, LCD display and LM324. C programming language is developed in this system. The results of this work can improve the performance of automobile safety system.

Concept of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems in Microgrid

Public awareness of the need to reduce global warming and the significant increase in the prices of conventional energy sources have encouraged many countries to provide new energy policies that promote the renewable energy applications. Such renewable energy sources like wind, solar, hydro based energies, etc. are environment friendly and have potential to be more widely used. Combining these renewable energy sources with back up units to form a hybrid system can provide a more economic, environment friendly and reliable supply of electricity in all load demand conditions compared to single use of such systems. Energy storages Systems ESS present many benefits such as balancing generation and demand, power quality improvement, smoothing the renewable resource's intermittency, and enabling ancillary services like frequency and voltage regulation in microgrid MG operation. Hybrid energy storage systems HESSs characterized by coupling of two or more energy storage technologies are emerged as a solution to achieve the desired performance by combining the appropriate features of different technologies. A single ESS technology cannot fulfill the desired operation due to its limited capability and potency in terms of lifespan, cost, energy and power density, and dynamic response. Hence, different configurations of HESSs considering storage type, interface, control method, and the provided service have been proposed in the literature. This paper comprehensively reviews the state of the art of HESSs system for MG applications and presents a general outlook of developing HESS industry. Important aspects of HESS utilization in MGs including capacity sizing methods, power converter topologies for HESS interface, architecture, controlling, and energy management of HESS in MGs are reviewed and classified. An economic analysis along with design methodology is also included to point out the HESS from investor and distribution systems engineers view. Regarding literature review and available shortcomings, future trends of HESS in MGs are proposed.

Malware Detection in Android Applications

Android is a Linux based operating system used for smart phone devices. Since 2008, Android devices gained huge market share due to its open architecture and popularity. Increased popularity of the Android devices and associated primary benefits attracted the malware developers. Rate of Android malware applications increased between 2008 and 2016. In this paper, we proposed dynamic malware detection approach for Android applications. In dynamic analysis, system calls are recorded to calculate the density of the system calls. For density calculation, we used two different lengths of system calls that are 3 gram and 5 gram. Furthermore, Naive Bayes algorithm is applied to classify applications as benign or malicious. The proposed algorithm detects malware using 100 real world samples of benign and malware applications. We observe that proposed method gives effective and accurate results. The 3 gram Naive Bayes algorithm detects 84 malware application correctly and 14 benign application incorrectly. The 5 gram Naive Bayes algorithm detects 88 malware application correctly and 10 benign application incorrectly.
