Design Optimization of Reinforced Concrete Slabs Using Various Optimization Techniques

This paper presents Reinforced Concrete RC slab design optimization technique for finding the best design parameters that satisfy the project requirements both in terms of strength and serviceability criteria while keeping the overall construction cost to a minimum. In this paper four different types of RC slab design named as simply supported slab, one end continuous slab, both end continuous slab and cantilever slab are optimized using three different metaheuristic optimization algorithms named as Genetic Algorithms GA , Particle Swarm Optimization PSO and Gray Wolf Optimization GWO . The slabs with various end conditions are formulated according to the ACI code. The formulated problem contains three optimization variables, the thickness of the slab, steel bar diameter, and bar spacing while objective involves the minimization of overall cost of the structure which includes the cost of concrete, cost of reinforcement and the constraints involves the design requirement and ACI codes limit. The proposed method is developed using MATLAB. Finally, to validate the performance of the proposed algorithm the results are compared with the previously proposed algorithms. The comparison of results shows that the proposed method provides a significant improvement over the previously proposed algorithms.

Simulation and Implementation of PLC Based for Detecting Burned Potato Chips and Remove using PLCSIM and HMI

This paper describes about to use the PLC techniques for automation of industrial product manufacturing to achieve high throughput and improved quality and consistency. In this system, PLC is used the heart of the system. Light dependent sensor, push button switch, light source, conveyor and blower is controlled by PLC. The proposed system of operation is devised by ladder diagram. Software implementation is used for demonstrating the ease of operation with this control along with tuning of the entire system is offered. This paper presents a study by simulation and experimental models for proposed system of PLCs. In this paper, consideration was given to the design of an HMI for an automated burn chips removed from conveyor which can be operated automatically by the press of start buttons. The design stages included screen interfacing for the HMI, programming the HMI by assigning tags, integration into Step 7 brand of PLC using Ethernet, simulation of the program using "PLCSIM" and the programming codes of the automated burn chips. The designed HMI will be useful to manufacturing industries having industrial automated systems.

Analysis of Soil Stabilization by Utilizing Iron Mineral by Products Steel Slag

The huge measure of modern waste as expanded step by step and transfer turns into an intense issue. it is important to use the steel slag waste. Steel slag is a result gotten from steel industry. It is created as a buildup during the generation of steel. Due to the high transfer cost as a waste material and the general positive highlights of steel slag, it has been pronounced a valuable development material. The measure of age is around 24 lacs mt for every year from various steel ventures in the india. The growing needs for fully furnished highways in the developed countries has led engineers to search for the durable cost effective measure for roadway construction. The basic necessity for suitable base course for roads is an important aspect in construction. The paper aims at utilizing the common waste materials for the improvement of roads. One such material that was analyzed in the paper for the execution of road work is the steel slag which is furnished in tones in the steel factories across the country. The use of the material is found to have improved the sub grade properties of soil to a good extent.

Wireless Remote using RF Module

With advanced technology, people try to avail wireless technologies in different roles. In this paper, the RF modules are implemented as modernized wireless system to overcome the use of wire. RF transmitter and RF receiver are main devices of the system. And then LED, transformer, relay, and push buttons are used as supporting components of the system. HT12E and HT12D are mainly used for decoding and encoding the data. The HT12E encoder IC converts the 4 bit data from the 4 data pins that are connected to buttons into serial data. This serial data is sent to RF transmitter. The RF transmitter transmits this serial data using signals. At the receiver side, the RF receiver receives the serial data. This serial data is sent to HT12D decoder IC which converts into 4 bit parallel data. The 4 data pins of decoder are connected to LEDs. According to the button pushed, the LEDs can be turned ON and OFF meaning that the specific task or function can be carried out by mean of remote predefined key. In today's world, there is a continuous need for wireless control using with transmitter and receiver in standard and modern living.

Software Engineering Cost Estimation using COCOMO II Model

Estimating the software cost and price to customer is vital role for software engineering. Accurate Software development cost estimation is important for effective project management such as budgeting project planning and control. Before software development processes begin, software cost and duration for any project should be agreement between developers and customers. In this paper, the effort required to develop the system, schedule needed to complete and the required average staff are estimated by using COCOMO constructive cost model model that is one of the algorithmic models. A mathematical formula is use to predict effort based on estimate of project size, thousands of sources of code KSLOC. First, this KSLOC must be calculated for the exiting project or other projects. Then, the require effort, duration and averaging staffing are continued to calculate for each of three types of projects which are organic, semi detached and embedded All these estimates are implemented with Java Programming Language and Microsoft Access.

The Effect of Dosage and Modulus of Activator on the Strength of Alkali Activated Slag and Fly Ash Based on Geopolymer Mortar

In this study, the effect of dosage and modulus of activator on the strength of alkali activated slag and fly ash based geopolymer mortar is studied. Fly ash from Tingyi is used. Blast furnace slag from No 1 Iron and Steel Industry, Pyin Oo Lwin is used. NaOH and Na2SiO3 are used as alkaline activator. Firstly, the physical properties of slag, fly ash and sand are tested. Alkali activated slag mortar is mixed with various proportion of activator. And the tests are made eight times with different activator dosage for slag mortar. Then the test is made once again without activator. Water slag cement ratio of 0.35 is used for this test. Fly ash based geopolymer mortar is mixed various proportion of activator. And the tests are made eight times with different activator dosage for fly ash based geopolymer mortar. Then the test is made once again without activator. Water fly ash ratio of 0.33 is used for this test. For both testing, samples are cured at 85°C for 24 hours and left at room temperature until the day of testing. The samples are tested for 3, 7, 14 and 28 days compressive strength. Then the compressive strength test results obtained from various dosages of activator and without activator are compared.
