Performance Analysis of OFDM System for Middleton Class A Noise

Power Line Communication PLC becomes the preferred technique for providing broadband to homes and offices with the advantage of eliminating the need for new wiring infrastructure and reducing the cost. An effect of an impulsive noise is identified as one of the major impairment in PLC. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing OFDM is one of the modulation techniques for PLC by most researchers and is used in this research. The performance of OFDM is analysed by adding Middleton Class A noise and applying it to the channel in an attempt to corrupt the signal. The results will show that the different modulation orders of Phase Shift Keying PSK are applied to test the input image which may be any size of a gray scale image or a colour image by comparing the values of Bit Error Rate BER , the average phase error and the percentage of pixel errors in the operation of OFDM system. In doing so, GUI from MATLAB software is used to simulate the operation of virtual transmitter and receiver.

Material Selection of Crankshaft for 2C Diesel Engine

Crankshaft is the main component part of an engine. The main aim of this thesis is to select the crankshaft materials with minimum Von Misses stress and displacement. That is considered material selection, theory and calculation of crankshaft for static load. The function of the crankshaft is to convert the reciprocation motion of the piston to rotary motion of the flywheel. If the crankshaft is suddenly deformable, the engine will not work. The type of the crankshaft is used for four cylinder, four stroke 2C Diesel Engine Light Truck , which is fully supported, multi throws, centre crankshaft. The compression ratio of this engine is 22.5. This thesis is mainly compared the Von Misses stresses and displacement of three different materials. As the crankshaft is subjected to complex bending, shear and twisting loads, it needs to be well designed quality material to withstand the high stresses. The total length of the crankshaft is 460 mm. The crankpin diameter is 50 mm and the main diameter is 56 mm. The crankpin length is 28 mm and the main journal length is 29 mm. In this thesis, crankshaft design is modelled and compared the simulation results with acting static load on the crankshaft by using AutoDesk Inventor software. In AutoDesk Inventor software, it is needed to apply boundary condition on the existing crankshaft for stress analysis report. The gas force acting on the middle of the crankpins is 44198.512 N. The combustion pressure was used to calculate the gas force acting on the crankshaft and modelled the geometry of crankshaft. Finally, Carbon steel will be selected because it has minimum Von Misses stress and displacement.

Improving Properties of M30 Grade of Concrete by Adding Glass Fibers

This Experimental work shows the investigation on M30 grade due to incorporation of glass fibers. In this Experiment, we used the glass fibers of Filament diameter 14 microns with aspect ratio 857.1 at various percentages as 0 , 0.4 , 0.8 , 1.2 , 1.6 by the weight of cement on M30 grade of mix proportion 1 1.60 2.96 with water cement ratio 0.45. Hence, in this research the Experimental investigations and analysis of results were conducted to study the compressive, tensile and flexural behavior of composite concrete with varying percentage of such fibers added to it. The concrete mix adopted were M30 with varying percentage of fibers ranging from 0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6 by weight of cement. On the analysis of test results, the concrete with straight glass fibers had improved performance as compared to the conventional concrete, which was readily available in market. From the experimental investigation, It has been found that optimum dosage amount of glass fiber of concrete is 1.2 by weight of concrete because at this point the compressive strength of GFRC increased up to 17.36 as compared to plain concrete while the flexural Strength increased up to 35 and Split Tensile Strength increased up to 40 . The common person in their regular constructions could easily adopt these sustainable improvements or modifications.

GSM Based Embedded Medical Critical Care Signal Monitoring System

In this project we present the Accessible GSM Based Embedded Medical Critical Care Signal Monitoring System. This device has been designed to be accessible for clients of different abilities and ages. The Accessible GSM based Medical Critical Care Signal Monitoring System that we have designed measures blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, temperature and respiration rate using non invasive technique and takes step wise measures in extreme conditions. In this system, these vital signs are displayed on a monitor and sent to a computer via Bluetooth as well as send these data to patents relatives mobile number as well as cross ponding Doctors, Nurses mobile number for immediate assistance via GSM based SMS technique and through a secure website that is part of the system, the patents and their relatives can upload their vital signs via any Internet connected computer. This allows clients to communicate their health status to physicians and healthcare providers anywhere in the world. Accessibility is provided through a large, well lit LCD screen, a speaker Alarm system, and Braille customized buttons. Vital signs are displayed on the large LCD screen, as well as alarmed through a speaker system in extreme situations. A simple 3 button design provides an easy to use user interface, appropriate for all age levels and technological savvy. Also, all buttons are customized with Braille or Universal Symbols for the vision impaired. The monitor includes solar rechargeable back up batteries in case of power failure, or if the client just does not to be homebound by their health monitoring needs. The implementation of the project includes various hardware components as well as software.

Properties of Concrete using Plastic Scrap a Review

The plain cement concrete has very low tensile strength, restricted pliability, and little protection from breaking. Inward miniaturized scale breaks are innately present in the concrete and its poor rigidity is because of the proliferation of such small cracks, in the long run prompting fragile disappointment of the concrete. The most generally acknowledged solution for this flexural shortcoming of cement is the regular fortification with high quality steel. Regardless of the way that these procedures offer flexibility to people, they however dont grow the trademark unbending nature of solid itself. In like manner the help putting and profitable compaction of RCC is amazingly troublesome if the solid is of low workability especially by virtue of overpowering solid M 30 . In plain concrete and near feeble materials, assistant parts scaled down scale breaks become even before stacking, particularly on account of drying shrinkage or distinctive purposes behind volume change. The width of these breaks on occasion outperforms a few microns, yet their two estimations may be of higher enormity.

Soil Stabilization Using Waste Materials in Sri Lanka

The uses of automobiles are increasing day by day because of that the waste of tyres increases in Sri Lanka. Safer disposal of rubber tyre waste has become a challenging job in Sri Lanka. As a result of the improper way of disposal, there is a great damage to eco system like air pollution and aesthetic pollution. So that use of their basic properties in engineering applications are become prominent. This investigation has focused on the CBR of soil reinforced with randomly mixed shredded rubber tyre chips and the results will be compared with unreinforced samples. The optimal percentage value of shredded rubber tyre content in soil will be determined using the Standard proctor compaction test and CBR test. Increases in CBR value significantly reduce the total thickness of the pavement and hence the total cost involved in the road projects.

Design and Construction of A Shredding Machine for Recycling and Management of Organic Waste

This research work accounts for the study of the significant problems of organic wastes management which is an issue utmost concern in developing Countries like India. Principally our aim is to minimize the jolt caused by organic Waste produced in agricultural fields as residue which is commonly burned causing pollution. We seek to reuse this valuable resource and turning into good quality compost for agricultural use. In this study, we designed and constructed a Shredding machine. The machine will initially convert larger particle size of Collected organic waste into desired size such that it can be treated other chemical and biological processes in order to convert it into compost in least amount of time possible. Indifferent from the conventional processes used this methodology elucidates the paramount problem of dumping, environmental pollution. In Addition to that it helps in farming by inducing the compost. As this methodology involves mechanical, chemical and biological processes for converting agricultural waste into compost making it highly efficient and eco friendly which is need of the hour
