Heat Load Calculation with Duct Design of a Multi Storeyed Residential Building

The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning HVAC system is arguably the most complex system installed in a building and is responsible for a substantial component of the total building energy use. Maintaining optimal temperature and air circulation are the basis of a comfortable indoor environment 1 . This role is played by HVAC Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. The heat load calculations along with the duct design for a HVAC system installed in a multistorey residential building is calculated and analyzed to maintain a desired temperature based on outer environmental temperature. The duct design is analyzed which create an impact on system performance. The layout of a multistorey residential building is made by using Autodesk REVIT software. A complete air conditioning system was designed along with ducts and VAV system to control the indoor environment conditions like temperature, relative humidity, air movement, etc. Based on the obtained Heat Load Calculations CFM and T.R values were found for each spaces and ducting design was done for all the spaces by considering the quantity of CFM to be supplied. A suitable air handling unit AHU is selected based on the CFM value for multi storey residential building. With this the capacity of equipment was estimated and selected for the installation.

Modelling and Analysis on Water Tube Boiler Drum

This paper presents the water tube boiler drum cross section which is used for heating the cold water passes inside boiler tubes, and heat is transferred to water from the shell side. A dynamic model has been developed is based on the structural, thermal and fluid analysis. In the model, two parts of the water tube boiler i.e. water tubes and boiler drum tested using ansys workbench for thermal, structural and fluid analysis as stated above.

In this paper, the model developed can capture the dynamics of the boiler drum and boiler pressure, and it is adequate to approach the boiler drum performance and hence, to design and test a control strategy for such boiler drums. Furthermore, it gives insight of dynamics performance not only during nominal operating conditions, or transient behaviour when a parameter is changed, but also for the start up. The model proposed can be easily implemented and thus, it is useful to assist for future operators.

Design of Chiller for Air Conditioning of Residential Building

The main objective of the project is to design and draft a fully functional Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditional HVAC system for computer center. From residential to commercial structures such as apartments, laboratories, hospitals, etc..., can be designed with HVAC components. HVAC is used to adjust the comfort level of both ambient temperature and air humidity to feel comfortable in enclosed spaces. As we want the heating, cooling, and ventilating system to perform well, we needed to start with an efficient duct design. In this project, we designed a duct system using the protocols based on ISHRAE Indian Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineers and ASHRAE American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineers standards. The underlying principle was to design a duct system, which delivers the correct Cubic Feet per Minute CFM air flow to the residential building against the friction created by the ducts and fittings, with the static pressure available from the blower. When there is more surface area exposed to the air flow from the blower, amount of friction will increase and the blower must work more competently to achieve the required air flow. To provide greater air flow by overcoming the friction, radius elbow ducts are used, which provides smooth radius ensuring uniformity of air flow, reduces turbulence which in turn results in very low pressure drop. For Duct design calculations we used AUTO DESK REVIT design software. For space references and calculations, Autodesk Revit plan was taken from the civil department and the position of duct was identified. Based on the obtained Heat Load Calculations and cubic feet per minute are calculated by using E 20 form sheet and by using ISHRAE handbook, duct sizes were design and chiller size was estimated for residential building.

RFID Technology An Overview

Radio Frequency Identification RFID is a programmed innovation and helps machines or PCs to distinguish objects, record metadata or control singular focus through radio waves. Associating RFID reader to the terminal of Internet, the reader can distinguish, track and screen the articles appended with labels all inclusive, consequently, and progressively, if necessary. This is the supposed Internet of Things IOT . Radio Frequency Identification RFID is an innovation that utilizes correspondence through electromagnetic waves to trade information between a terminal and an electronic label joined to an article, with the end goal of ID and tracking

Automatic Plant Irrigation System

Agriculture is the source of living of majority Indians and it also has a countless influence on economy of the country. The objective of our project is to reduce this manual involvement by the farmer by using an automated irrigation system which purpose is to enhance water use for agricultural crops . This paper deals with automatic irrigation system senses the moisture content of the soil and automatically switches the pump when the power is on. In this project an automation of farm irrigation and soil moisture control by Arduino using soil moisture sensor and L293D module. This automatic irrigation system senses the moisture content of the soil and automatically switches the pump when the power is on.

Estimation of Cooling Load Calculations for a Commercial Complex

In this project we discussed the cooling load calculations for a commercial building by using revit software Window air conditioners, split air conditioners are used in small buildings and offices etc but in big buildings and commercial complex we use central air conditioning systems this systems are installed far away from the buildings. The cooled air is supplied to the building with the help of ducts. When ducts are not properly designed, then it will lead to problem such as frictional loss, higher installation cost, increased noise and power consumption. For minimizing this problem, a proper design of duct is needed. Equal friction method is used to design the duct it gives the comparison of pressure drop in rectangular duct and circular duct. Central air conditioning is more reliable for easy operation with a lower maintenance cost. Cooling load items such as, people heat gain, lighting heat gain, infiltration and ventilation heat gain can easily by using REVIT SOFTWARE. The programme can also be used to calculate cooling load due to walls and roofs. And results were compared with the standard data given by ASHRAE and CARRIER. The RULE OF THUMB method is used to calculate the heat developed in the rooms. These methods are used for lower power consumption capital cost and improve aesthetics of building

Air Water System Design using Revit Mep for a Residential Building

In this project we discussed the study and performance of air conditioner, air refrigeration and water conditioner system in a single unit. The main objective of this project is to develop the multifunctional system which can provide refrigeration effect, cold water and air conditioning effect with in regular air or space conditioning system. Air and water systems conditioning spaces by distributing the both conditioned air and water to the terminal units installed in the spaces for which the basic plan is given by civil department and the basic design is done by using REVIT MEP software. The air and water are heated or cooled in a central mechanical equipment room. The air supplied is termed as primary air to distinguish it from the recirculated or secondary room air. By using the peak cooling load values obtained in the heating and cooling load calculations the ton of refrigeration values for individual and total area is calculated which will be helpful for selection of accurate design for the residential building.
