Design and Fabrication of Economical Air Filter

The most general problem of today's environment is the presence of dust. The dust stability in air will lead to instability in human routine in the form of health disorders. The filtration of this kind of impurities from air is one of the best possible epidemiology and probably an economical and less expensive filtration system will further help to overcome this situation. The work in this project puts its concentration on the above mentioned factors. An air filter produced form the very often fetch of simple materials is designed, analyzed and fabricated. The trapezium modeled air filter with slots embedded in it, facilitate the fatigue replacement of materials after the expiry of the same. The incoming air is forced through an Exhaust fan for a faster movement of air rather than depending on the conventional method of air income. The air entering from the inlet gets protruded through different layers of filtration. The entire model, its analysis and results are discussed in the below work.

Design and Development of Spur Gear by using Three Dimensional Printing

Gears are power transmission devices in between input and output of machines, these power transmitting elements are very compact, and they transfer power with minimum loss. Due to the nature of their different speed ratios they are used for different applications like high speed marine engines, automobiles etc. Different materials are used for preparation or fabrication of gears like metals steel or brass , plastics nylon or polycarbonate . In this project spur gear is designed by CAD software and fabricated by using 3D printer, for 3D printing materials require like plastics or ceramics but for this project plastic material is used that is polylactic acid PLA . By using 3D printer spur gear is produced within a small period with better dimensional accuracy than conventional method like milling etc.

Modelling and 3D Printing of Crankshaft

Power from the burnt gases in the combustion chamber is delivered to the crankshaft through the piston, piston pin and connecting rod. The crankshaft changes reciprocating motion of the piston in cylinder to the rotary motion of the flywheel. Crankshaft is designed for multi cylinder engine and its 3D model is created using modeling software CATIA V5R20.The 3D printer prints the CATIA design layer by layer forming a real object. 3D printing process is derived from inkjet desktop printers in which multiple deposit jets and the printing material, layer by layer derived from the CATIA data. 3D printing significantly challenges mass production processes in the future. This type of printing is predicted to influence industries, like automotive, medical, education, equipment, consumer products industries and various businesses.

A Review on Bionic Arm

Bionic Arm is the best revolution idea for amputees across the world. This is as close as we can get to our natural limb. This paper is about the study of the prosthetic arm used for amputees and gives an overview of upper limb evolution based on control technologies. It focused on the mechanical parameters like actuation system and prototyping techniques that are required to meet the design specifications. The drive systems which hold the key for proper functioning are described and their pros and cons are stated.

A review of materials for prosthetic applications and role of 3D printing as a manufacturing method is discussed This would further enable to choose a system based on variables like dexterity, patient's need, a weight of the system and feasibility. Detailed research of robotic limb generation could help us to develop a prosthetic limb that mimics the salient features of the limb.

Evaluation of Porosity in Fusion Welded AA2014 Plates using X Ray Radiography

NDT has evolved as an essential demand in much modern engineering design in aircraft applications. The performance levels and reliability of the NDE is more important to the end use of the object being inspected. Failure is the primary threat to the integrity, safety and performance of aircraft structure. The aero grade material AA 2014 was taken for this project in the form of plate and welded by Tungsten Inert Gas welding TIG . The following NDT methods was done on this material Penetrant testing for to reveal surface defects, Ultrasonic testing to detect the subsurface and internal defects, X Ray Radiography for internal defects.

Apart from conventional methods, remote crack inspection was carried using the Ultrasonic phased array. The results from methods were analysed. The acoustic emission test was conducted for the calibration of equipment for testing of AA 2014 material. Surface defects were detected by penetrant testing and internal defects like inclusions, blow holes, porosity and lack of penetration were detected by both Radiography testing and Ultrasonic tests. Very fine porosity was detected by ultrasonic phased array method, which could not be detected by Radiography testing and Ultrasonic testing.
