Desalination Approach of Seawater and Brackish Water by Coconut Shell Activated Carbon as a Natural Filter Method

Engineers are challenged to develop cost effective ways to produce large quantities of water suitable for drinking, crop irrigation and commercial use for regions of the world that suffer from water shortages. Water desalination is expensive, requiring large amounts of energy and specialized equipment to convert saltwater into drinking water. The present study aims to develop a cheaper, cleaner, easy and more energy efficient way of desalinating seawater technique by using natural filters, it can help the common people as it affordable during their immediate requirements. The developed technique seemed to be very effective in reducing the concentration of seawater ions. The desalination system is developed by selecting coconut shell charcoal as the substrate material. As per the results obtained from prototype of seawater and brackish water, there is 60 reduction in chloride and 75 reduction in sodium this is mainly due to the usage of activated carbon charcoal as the filter media. It is also observed through experiments that there is 100 reduction in iron,53 reduction in sulphate, 20 reduction in total dissolved solids and 12 reduction in hardness which clearly indicates that the selected filter medias those are activated carbon charcoal, sand, laterite would be used as the filter medias for future experiments on desalination using natural filters. This work is to present an overview of current and future technologies applied to the desalination of brackish as well as seawater to produce freshwater for supplementing drinking water supplies to the common people in smaller quantity. Removal efficiency increases with the increase in contact time respectively, for both seawater and brackish water, which was considered to be maximum purification ~40 .

Automation of Medical Waste Separation using Advanced Technologies to Minimize its Impact on Environment

This paper describes a shape recognition technique using boundary chain codes extracted by a method as described by Pavlidis and used an 8 connected neighbourhood. A chain code is a representation of a two dimensional contour using a one dimensional array. Feed forward neural networks were trained to recognise these chain codes. In addition, backpropagation network is trained using different training algorithms and the resulting optimal parameters are recorded. Depending upon the complexity of the object to be recognised, this technique can used to form the basis for object recognition or as the best method.

The research is also aimed to compare the performance of chain code representation as against centroidal profile extraction. The third objective is to determine the effectiveness of Feed forward artificial neural networks ANNs in recognising and classifying different medical waste items in the image form. The networks were trained on a large number of medical waste items. The wide variety of shapes and textures revealed that just a representation of an object’s boundary is not sufficient to recognise every object in the set, and some form of texture recognition will also be required in recognising medical wastes. The results have shown that chain code has lesser performance as compared to centroidal profile representation. Ramani Bai V. Data Warehouse Structure for Energy Monitoring System Towards Campus Sustainability

ICT gadgets are turning out to be increasingly widespread in all parts of human life. ICT devours energy, additionally a significant method for sparing energy. In a university campus, it is not unusual for students to own and use more than one gadgets for personal or academic purpose. Conservatively, it has done as such by making energy using systems performance faster. Taking into contrast the worldwide emphasis of the effect of energy consumption in general, there is a developing focus to the power utilization connected with ICT hardware. This work is designed to calculate energy consumption for ICTs and to show analyzed reports and charts for top managers. To accomplish the research, the author needs to depend on the methodology that permitted us to address ways in which energy can be calculated. In regard to the research, we proposed a program that will calculate total cost of ICT devices used, show charts and reports and store these devices in the database.

Process Model of E Assessment for Accessible and Remote Examination

Online assessments, which includes online examinations, are also called e examinations, are assessments administered through the internet or in an intranet, if within the organization, in the case of remote examinees for special accessibility cases such as assessment for students with disabilities and with specific learning differences. The system is developed during this project with emphasis on the process model because of specific constraints and risks involved in assessments, and specifically for online examinations.System was developed based on the process models upon requirements analysis. Several tests were carried out on the system to ensure that the functional requirements laid out for the system were met.

Issues on Management and Governance of Data Security In HEIs

In higher education, Governance of data security is the data management mechanism that has to be practiced. This is an appropriate management model for the employees in the higher education institution that will understand the role to be played to secure more highly confidential data. This paper aims at issues on management and governance of data security in Higher education institutions HEIs . This will conclude on identifying the factors affecting governance of data security in private higher education system. It also enables to discover the issues in the management and provide appropriate solution for the governance of data security in the HEIs. A research model with factors was proposed for data security governance practice in HEIs. From the research findings, a governance model was derived and proposed for the all new HEIs.

Wideband Width Impedance Matching Topologies for PA Applications

In this paper, the design of a wideband width impedance matching topology for Power Amplifier PA applications has introduced. The design topology has implemented with single, double and triple stages to demonstrate the wideband width frequency range for input and output matching network section of the PA amplifier. Each stages of the proposed matching circuit has LC filter with high and low pass design configuration. The single stage configuration provides the wide band frequency of 1.07 GHz to 2.094 GHz at 74 dB gain. The frequency range of 0.75 GHz to 2.95 GHz has obtained in double stage configuration with 28 dB, 92 dB and 40 dB gain. The triple stage offers a wide frequency range of 0.59 GHz to 3.7 GHz with 17 dB, 33 dB, 96 dB, 55 dB and 30 dB gain at the cut off frequency of 1.5 GHz which is suitable for PA applications.
