Effect of Steel Fibre Reinforcement on Early Strength of Concrete

Cement concrete is the most extensively used construction material in the world. The reason for its extensive use is that it provides good workability and can be moulded to any shape. Ordinary cement concrete possesses a very low tensile strength, limited ductility and little resistance to cracking, internal micro cracks, leading to brittle failure of concrete.

In this modern age, civil engineering constructions have their own structural and durability requirements, every structure has its own intended purpose and hence to meet this purpose, modification in traditional cement concrete has become mandatory. It has been found that different type of fibers added in specific percentage to concrete improves the mechanical properties, durability and serviceability of the structure.

It is now established that one of the important properties of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) is its superior resistance to cracking and crack propagation. In this study the effect of Steel fibers on early strength of concrete have been studied by varying the percentage of fibers in concrete. The Chemical admixture used in the concrete is CaCl2 (Accelerator).Fibre content were varied by 0%, 0.50%, 0.75%, 1%, 1.5% and 2% by volume of concrete.

Cubes of size 150mmX150mmX150mm to check the compressive strength, Cylinders of size 100mmx200m to check the split tensile strength and beams of size 500mmX100mmX100mm for checking flexural strength were casted. All the specimens were cured for the period of 3, 7 and 28 days before crushing. The results of Steel fiber reinforced concrete on early strength for 3days, 7days and 28days curing with varied percentage of fiber were studied and it has been found that there is significant strength improvement in Early Strength concrete.

The optimum fiber content while studying the compressive strength, Split tensile strength and flexural strength is found to be 1.25%. Also, it has been observed that with the increase in fiber content up to the optimum value, the concrete gains maximum compressive strength at 28 days curing while split tensile and flexural performance shows maximum percentage increase in strength in first 3 days of curing. Slump cone test was adopted to measure the workability of concrete. The Slump cone test results revealed that workability gets reduced with the increase in fiber content.

Water is an essential requirement for all living creature for their survival. It is one of the vital components of natural environment. Out of various industries, textile contributes majorly in polluting water maily with hazardous dyes. In textile industry, chemical processing contributes about 70% of pollution.

At present treatment of dye present in textile waste water is of utmost importance. The present work is aimed at green synthesized ferric oxide nano particles by using Manilkara Zapota leaves extract in degradation of hazardous dyes like methylene blue which is confirmed by a decrease in absorbance maximum values. The formation of ferric oxide nano particles will be assessed using UV-Vis spectroscopy, SEM, TEM.

The study is carried out on ferric oxide nanoparticles catalyst on reduction of hazardous dyes. Novelty of this present study is that the plant extract is very cost effective and eco friendly and thus can be economic and effective alternative for the large scale synthesis of iron nano particles.

Utilization of Recycled Coarse Aggregate for Concrete Production

The utilization of recycled aggregate on compressive strength of concrete is investigated in this research. In the experimental, five types of concrete mixtures were tested: concrete made with natural aggregate as a control concrete and five types of concrete made with natural fine and recycled coarse aggregate (10%, 20%, 30% and 50%) replacement of coarse recycled aggregate).

In this research, physical properties tests of each constitutes material are done according to ASTM procedures at laboratory. After that, concrete mix proportioning is done to obtain the specified 28-day characteristics cylinder compressive strength of 20 MPa (cube compressive strength of 25.64 MPa) and 75+ 25 mm slump according to ACI211 method.

In this step, trial mixes are prepared using recycled coarse aggregates, with respect to the 7-day and 28-day compressive strength results. And then, appropriate mix design is selected for specified strength. Moreover, 120 concrete specimens for mix proportion of selected Grade is tested to the 7-day and 28-day compressive strength to establish a standard deviation and their results are compared.

For standard deviation, total 720 cubes (120 cubes for each) are cast. In this research, concrete made with 30% recycled coarse aggregate performed best in specified target strength and also in selected slump control among the various proportions.

Role of Thermoplastic Granulus for the Improvement of Strength of Clay Soil

Soil stabilization is any process which improves the physical properties of soil, such as increasing shear strength, bearing capacity etc. which can be done by use of controlled compaction or addition of suitable admixtures like cement, lime and waste materials like fly ash, phosphogypsum etc. The cost of introducing these additives has also increased in recent years which opened the door widely for the development of other kinds of soil additives such as plastics, bamboo etc.

This new technique of soil stabilization can be effectively used to meet the challenges of society, to reduce the quantities of waste, producing useful material from non-useful waste materials. Using of plastic wastes such as plastic bags, PVC powder from industry and construction and demolition waste is increasing day by day leading to various environmental concerns.

Therefore the disposal of the plastic wastes without causing any ecological hazards has become a real challenge. Thus using PVC as a soil stabilizer is an economical utilization since there is scarcity of good quality soil for embankments. This paper describes an experimental study on mixing PVC waste powder with clayey soil at different mixing ratios (0, 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75) % by weight respectively. For the clay Soil, Shear Strength parameter and Cohesion Value are obtained by conducting Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCC) test and Maximum Dry Density is found by Standard Proctor Test.

An Informational Search for Review through Data Analytics

Spreading of large unstructured information generated by social networks provide useful results to the effective recommender. However, the high volume of reviews that are typically published for a single product makes harder for individuals as well as manufacturers to locate the best reviews and understand the true underlying quality of a product.

This paper suggests an approach to identify product opportunities from customer reviews in social media. Our approach explores to identify multiple reviews and get processed by sentimental analysis. These extracted data may contain positive and negative sentimental reviews. The recommended product can be visible to all the users who are present in network.

The sentimental words get ordered based on priority. With the help of this, the user can get the best product by comparing it with other products. Sentimental analysis plays an important role to decide a product and both the users and manufacturers get benefit through this.
