Implementation of a Radon Counter Measuring Apparatus using CCD Image Sensor Module

Radon is an invisible, odorless gas produced by the decay of uranium ore. Various types of equipment and components have been proposed for use in effective radon detection. In this paper, we describe a radon measuring apparatus that uses an analog CCD image sensor module. Based on our studies, we believe that this system would be helpful in protecting many people from the dangers associated with radon exposure.

CFD Analysis of Heat Transfer Enhancement in Shell and Tube Type Heat Exchanger creating Triangular Fin on the Tubes

Shell and Tube heat exchangers are having special importance in boilers, oil coolers, condensers, pre-heaters. Shell and Tube heat exchanger is one such heat exchanger, provides more area for heat transfer between two fluids in comparison with other type of heat exchanger. To intensify heat transfer with minimum pumping power innovative heat transfer fluids called Nano fluids have become the major area of research now a days. The primary aim is to evaluate the effect of different weight concentration and temperatures on convective heat transfer.

Increasing the weight concentration and temperatures leads to enhancement of convective heat transfer coefficient. In the present, work attempts are made to enhance the heat transfer rate in shell and tube heat exchangers. A multi pass shell and tube heat exchanger with 3 tubes with fins modelling is done using ANSYS. Nanofluid such as Al2O3-H2O is used.

The CFD simulated results achieved from the use of the creating fin in tube side in shell and tube type heat exchanger are compared with without fin. Based on the results, providing fins on tube causes the increment of overall heat transfer coefficient which results in the enhancement of heat transfer rate of heat exchanger.

A Review - Study of the Thermo-Physical Properties of PCM with Dispersion of Nano Particles

In this article, a new sort of nanofluid phase change materials (PCMs) is developed by suspending a small amount of BeO nanoparticles in solution of wax. Its thermal conductivities, super cooling degree, latent heat, specific heat, and rheological behaviours of the nanofluids PCMs have investigated. A rectangular duct designed and numerical studies were performed to reveal the effects of molten PCM thermo physical properties on heat and exergy storage performance of latent heat storage (LHS) unit.

The range analysis, regression analysis and optimization were conducted. The PCM selection criteria were established. The results show that for short time LHS system, the order of PCM properties effects on heat storage performance is melting temperature, thermal conductivity, specific heat, density and melting enthalpy successively. PCM with lower melting temperature, higher thermal conductivity and specific heat is beneficial to improve the heat storage rate and heat storage quality.

For long time heat storage system, the order of PCM properties effects on heat storage performance is density, melting enthalpy, specific heat, melting temperature and thermal conductivity successively. PCM with higher density, melting enthalpy and specific heat can both improve the heat storage rate and heat storage quality.

Dynamic Analysis of Multistory RCC Building Frame with Flat Slab and Grid Slab

Conventional R.C.C structure i.e flat slab, shear wall , column for different heights are modelled and analyzed for the different combinations of static loading with varying thicknesses of shear wall with varying height of multistoried building .The comparison is made between the conventional R.C.C flat slab structure of 10,20and 30 stories without shear wall . The comparison made between the conventional R.C.C flat slab structure of 10,20 and 30 stories with varying thicknesses of shear wall in multi - storied buildings have been provided at some particular locations .

The main objective of analysis is to study the difference between fllat slab and grid slab and also comparision of shapes of rectangle square and hexagon which shapes is best in siesmic behaviour of analysis using etabs software.

A Condition Aware Smart Navigation System

When emergencies happen, navigation services that guide people to exits while keeping them away from emergencies are critical in saving lives. To achieve timely emergency navigation, early and automatic detection of potential dangers, and quick response with safe paths to exits are the core requirements, both of which rely on continuous environment monitoring and reliable data transmission. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a natural choice of the infrastructure to support emergency navigation services, given their relatively easy deployment and affordable costs, and the ability of ubiquitous sensing and communication.

Although many efforts have been made to WSN-assisted emergency navigation, almost all existing works neglect to consider the hazard levels of emergencies and the evacuation capabilities of exits. Without considering such aspects, existing navigation approaches may fail to keep people farther away from emergencies of high hazard levels and would probably encounter congestions at exits with lower evacuation capabilities.

In this proect, we propose a situation-aware emergency navigation system, which takes the hazard levels of emergencies and the evacuation capabilities of exits into account and provides the mobile users the safest navigation paths accordingly By guiding users following the descend gradient of the hazard potential field, System thereby can thereby achieve guaranteed success of navigation and provide optimal safety.

On the issue of improving the reliability of consumer protection in unbalanced modes of low-voltage networks

Article is devoted to the research of reliability of systems of power supply. Results of introduction of the latest technical solutions realized in automatic Master pact breakers of the Schneider Electric company are given in it, for modernization of 0.4 kV of traditional devices of relay protection applied now in networks. With objective of reduction conformity to modern safety requirements under standards of International Electric-technical Commission it is offered to apply these achievements at the organization of a domestic production on release of power automatic breakers.

Designing of IIR Filter using Radix-4 Multiplier by Precharging Technique

Infinite impulse response (IIR) filter designs mainly aims on either low area-cost or high speed or reduced power consumption. Infinite Impulse Response filters are the most important element in signal processing and communication. IIR filters can achieve a given filtering characteristic using less memory and calculations than a similar FIR filter. Multipliers are the basic building block in DSP, microprocessors and other applications.

The system's performance is entirely dependent upon the multipliers because they have large area, long latency and consume considerable power hence there is a need to design high speed, low power consumption, regular and less area multipliers. The speed of the multipliers can be increased by reducing the number of partial products. Parallel multipliers are fastest among all multipliers. Booth multipliers are the parallel multipliers that operate on signed operands in two's complement form and have high performance, low power consumption and does not suffer from bad regularity.

This paper presents an efficient implementation of high speed parallel multiplier using Radix'“4 which further used in the designing of IIR filter. Pre-charging is implemented to increase the lifespan of electronic components and increase reliability of the high voltage system. Pre-charge is intended to minimize propagation delay time. Pre-charge of the power line voltages in a high voltage DC application is a preliminary mode which limits the inrush current during the power up procedure. In other systems such as vehicle applications, pre-charge will occur with each use of the system, multiple times per day.
