Review:Wavelet transform based electroencephalogram methods

In this paper, EEG signals are the signatures of neural activities. There have been many algorithms developed so far for processing EEG signals. The analysis of brain waves plays an important role in diagnosis of different brain disorders. Brain is made up of billions of brain cells called neurons, which use electricity to communicate with each other. The combination of millions of neurons sending signals at once produces an enormous amount of electrical activity in the brain, which can be detected using sensitive medical equipment such as an EEG which measures electrical levels over areas of the scalp.

The electroencephalogram (EEG) recording is a useful tool for studying the functional state of the brain and for diagnosing certain disorders. The combination of electrical activity of the brain is commonly called a Brainwave pattern because of its wave-like nature. EEG signals are low voltage signals that are contaminated by various types of noises that are also called as artifacts. Statistical method for removing artifacts from EEG recordings through wavelet transform without considering SNR calculation is proposed

Review: Denoising and Compression Methods

In this paper, Image recognition is the process of identifying and detecting an object or a feature in a digital image or video. Feature extraction a type of dimensionality reduction that efficiently represents interesting parts of an image as a compact feature vector. A computer revolution has occurred not only in engineering field but also in Medical field, where vast amount of information must be processed very quickly and accurately.

High resolution scanning techniques such as digital radiography, tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, produces an image containing relevant information for medical analysis. The use of computers for handling image data in the healthcare is growing. The amount data produced by modern image generating techniques, such as Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance (MR), is vast. This huge data might be a problem from a storage point of view or when the data is sent over a network. To overcome such problems data compression techniques are needed.

Monitoring of the Chemical Oxygen Demand and Identify the Presence of Gas

Water pollution is one of the biggest fears for the green globalization. In order to ensure the safe supply of the drinking water the quality needs to be monitor in real time. In this paper we present a design and development of a low cost system for real time monitoring of the water quality. The system consist of several sensors is used to measuring physical and chemical parameters of the water. The parameters such as temperature, DO, Turbidity, conductivity and PH of the water can be measured. The measured values from the sensors can be processed by the core controller. Finally, the sensor data can be processed and send to the system.

An intelligent device control system using augmented reality and zigbee technology

Current technology and trend have made designing and implementation of embedded systems for home automation has increased the capabilities and features. There is a demand for smart home automation access via virtual reality. The proposed system allows the owner to access via virtual reality and controls the home appliances. This is very easy to access. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a low cost but yet flexible, feasible and secure virtual reality based home automation system. In our proposed system we will try to control light, motor and 230v supply.

This work also demonstrates the use of virtual reality in the context of the appliance control. In this project we have used image processing techniques for image acquisition, pre processing, image segmentation and feature extraction. The user commands are captured by the camera and transmitted through wireless communication to the receiver end. Thus our project has a huge scope for training and development business using virtual image and setting up a virtual environment.

An Experimental Study on Shear Strength of Soil Sub Grade using Cement as Stabilizing Agent

Soil stabilization is the process of altering some soil properties by different methods, mechanical or chemical in order to produce an improved soil material which has all the desired engineering properties. Soils are generally stabilized to increase their strength and durability or to prevent erosion and dust formation in soils. The main aim is the creation of a soil material or system that will hold under the design use conditions and for the designed life of the engineering project.

The properties of soil vary a great deal at different places or in certain cases even at one place; the success of soil stabilization depends on soil testing. Various methods are employed to stabilize soil and the method should be verified in the lab with the soil material before applying it on the field. The prime objective of soil stabilization is to improve the California Bearing Ratio of in-situ soils by 4 to 6 times. The other prime objective of soil stabilization is to improve on-site materials to create a solid and strong sub-base and base courses. In certain regions of the world, typically developing countries and now more frequently in developed countries, soil stabilization stabilization is to improve on-site materials to create a solid and strong sub-base and base courses. In certain regions of the world, typically developing countries and now more frequently in developed countries, soil stabilization is being used to construct the entire road.

In the past, soil stabilization was done by utilizing the binding properties of clay soils, cement-based products such as soil cement utilizing the "rammed earth" technique (compaction) and lime. Traditionally and widely accepted types of soil stabilization techniques use products such as bitumen emulsions which can be used as a binding agents for producing a road base. However, bitumen is not environmentally friendly and becomes brittle when it dries out. Portland cement has been used as an alternative to soil stabilization. However, this can often be expensive and is not a very good "green" alternative.

The prime objective of Soil Stabilization is to improve the California Bearing Ratio of in-situ soils by 4 to 6 times. The other prime objective of soil stabilization is to improve on-site materials to create a solid and strong sub-base and base courses. In certain regions of the world, typically developing countries and now more frequently in developed countries, soil stabilization is being used to construct the entire road. Originally, soil stabilization was done by utilizing the binding properties of clay soils, cement-based products such as soil cement, and/or utilizing the "rammed earth" technique (soil compaction) and lime.

Some of the renewable technologies are: enzymes, surfactants, biopolymers, synthetic polymers, co-polymer based products, cross-linking styrene acrylic polymers, tree resins, ionic stabilizers, fiber reinforcement, calcium chloride, calcite, sodium chloride, magnesium chloride and more. Some of these new stabilizing techniques create hydrophobic surfaces and mass that prevent road failure from water penetration or heavy frosts by inhibiting the ingress of water into the treated layer.

Conceptual Design for Real-time Monitoring and Control System for critical assets using JAVA Classes: Case Study of Public Building and Oil & Gas Pipeline security

Critical public assets such as oil and gas pipelines, public buildings, power plants, nuclear plants, public water utility etc needs to be monitored in real time so as to ensure their availability, dependability, safety and security. In this paper, we examined the basic components and architecture of real-time system, which includes real-time control, data acquisition system (DAS), critical systems, sensors and actuators, stimulus and response, Multi Agent System (MAS); design procedures and implementation of real-time systems using JAVA Standard Edition (SE) programming paradigm known as Java classes.

We also examined the pros and cons of JAVA as a programming language compared to other languages such as Assembly Language and Ada. The paper went further to present the design and process architectures and timing requirements for two critical public assets- the oil and gas pipeline and public building involving different types of sensors and actuator interfaces. The paper concluded by implementing JAVA classes for the burglary alarm intruder detection system capable of detecting and reporting any intrusion targeted at critical public buildings.
