Combined Channel and Clipping Level Estimation in OFDM with MMSE Equalizer

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been recently applied wide in wireless communication systems, as a result of its high rate, transmission capability with high information measure, potency and its strength to multipath delay .Channel estimation is an important drawback in OFDM system. Channel estimation forms the center of any orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based mostly wireless communication receiver. Frequency domain pilot aided channel estimation techniques are either least squares (LS) based or minimum mean square error (MMSE) based.

LS based techniques are computationally less complex. Unlike MMSE ones, they do not require a priori knowledge of channel statistics. However, the mean square error (MSE) performance of the channel estimator incorporating MMSE based techniques is better compared to that obtained with the incorporation of LS based techniques. We propose an alternative optimization algorithm which uses frequency-domain block-type training symbols, and prove that this algorithm always converges, at least to a local optimum point. Then, we calculate the Crame-´r - Rao lower bound, and show that the proposed estimator attains the bound.

Collaborative Filtering with Preventing Fake Ratings

Social voting is a promising new feature in online social networks. It has distinctive challenges and opportunities for suggestion. In this paper, we increase a set of matrix factorization (MF) and nearest-neighbor (NN)-based recommended systems (RSs) that explore user social network and group association information for social voting recommendation. During experiments with actual social voting traces, we express that social network and group association information can drastically progress the popularity-based voting advice, and social network in order dominates group association sequence in NN-based approaches.

We as well observe that social and group information is much more precious to cold users than to heavy users. In our experiments, simple meta path based nearest-neighbor models outperform computation-concentrated on matrix factorization models in hot-voting recommendation, while user's preferences for non-hot votings can be better mined by matrix factorization models. We further put forward a hybrid RS, bagging distinct single approaches to get the best top-k hit rate.

Optimum sizing methodologies and planning of different system components in hybrid power system

In this paper a review is given related to the different sizing methodologies which can be opt in hybrid power generation system incorporating renewable energy resources (RERs). Different criteria of sizing the different system components of hybrid renewable energy power plant at the most preferable logistical environmental and economical considerations have been discussed. Also, the paper discussed some of the optimization approaches which are used to compare the energy production cost and performance of different hybrid system configurations using HOMER.

Different topologies and sizing techniques in PV-Wind-Battery based power system

Uneconomical extension of the grid has led to generation of electric power at the end user facility and has been proved to be cost effective and to an extent efficient. With augmented significance on eco-friendly technologies the use of renewable energy sources such as micro-hydro, wind, solar, biomass and biogas is being explored. This paper presents an extensive review on various topologies and sizing techniques related to Renewable Energy System (RES) based power generation.

As solar and wind power is intermittent and unpredictable in nature, higher penetration of their types in existing power system could cause and create high technical challenges especially to weak grids or stand-alone systems without proper and enough storage capacity. The paper also gives a review of the main research work reported in the literature with regard to optimal sizing design, power electronics topologies and control.

Real-Time Bursty Topic Detection from Twitter

Twitter has turned out to be one of the biggest microblogging stages for clients around the globe to impart anything occurring around them to companions and past. A bursty point in Twitter is one that triggers a surge of pertinent tweets inside a brief timeframe, which frequently reflects essential occasions of mass intrigue. Step by step instructions to use Twitter for early location of bursty themes has consequently turned into a critical research issue with huge down to earth esteem. In spite of the abundance of research deal with point displaying and investigation in Twitter, it remains a test to distinguish bursty themes continuously.

As existing strategies can scarcely scale to deal with the errand with the tweet stream progressively, we propose in this paper TopicSketch, a draw based subject model together with an arrangement of procedures to accomplish constant location. We assess our answer on a tweet stream with more than 30 million tweets.

Our investigation comes about show both proficiency and adequacy of our approach. Particularly it is additionally shown that TopicSketch on a solitary machine can conceivably deal with several millions tweets for each day, which is on a similar size of the aggregate number of every day tweets in Twitter, and present bursty occasions in better granularity.

A Case-Study on Blackout

Indian grid system is a synchronized system and presently operating as National Grid. India has five provincial grids altogether as per geological region which covers the distinct state's electrical power framework to be specific these are Northern Grid, Eastern Grid, Western Grid, Southern Grid and North-Eastern Grid. Southern Grid isn't synchronized with whatever is left of the areas and consequently keeps running on a marginally different frequency and associated with Western Grid and Eastern Grid through HVDC links.

A power outage is the total or partial loss of energy to a territory and is the most serious type of blackout that can happen. Power outage is a transgression to the interconnected power framework. At the point when interconnected power framework goes out of step, it is basic and essential to distinguish it quickly, and islanding ought to be taken to counteract boundless power outage. Two extreme power outages influenced the greater part of northern and eastern India on 30th and 31st July 2012.

The 30th July 2012 power outage influenced more than 300 million individuals and was the then-biggest power blackout ever, tallying number of individuals influenced, beating the January 2001 India power outage. Within the 24 hours of restoration of this, another blackout strokes the northern part of the country. The outage of 31st July is the biggest power blackout exceeding the previous one.
