IoT - Internet of Things Based Energy Management for Smart Home

This paper presents an idea or a concept for smart home using mobile application. Today, smart home industry is growing widely; this is powered by the need to provide systems, which provides support for aged and physically handicapped people, especially people who lives alone. Smart home or home automation can be said as the residential extension of building automation, it also involves the automation and controlling of lightings, ACs, ventilation and security which also includes home appliances such as dryers/washers, ovens or refrigerators/freezers which uses Wi-Fi for monitoring via remote.

Smart Home must have compliance with all the household standards and ease of use. This paper focuses on flexible, cost friendly wireless smart home system, which would be based on an Android App. The app will be working with the help of node mcu ESP8266 and firebase also Internet of Things. The App would be featuring the process of mobile app that would be taking commands from user in order to control different home appliances that would be connected via IOT.

An Efficient Smart Garbage Disposal System - A Review

In the recent decades, Urbanization has increased tremendously. At the same phase there is an increase in waste production. Waste management has been a crucial issue to be considered. This review paper is a way to achieve this good cause. In this review paper, smart bin is built on a microcontroller based platform. Microcontroller would be programmed in such a way that it could control the operations of servo doors. This microcontroller would control all three components of our project. The basic idea of our project is the van could move around area given to it.

The van is basically a line following robot which would stop at certain intervals below the container, the container would drop off the garbage into the van. The van would go to next station and drop the garbage into the dumping pit. Once these smart bins are implemented on a large scale, by replacing our traditional bins present today, waste can be managed efficiently as it avoids unnecessary lumping of wastes on roadside.

Foul smell from these rotten wastes that remain untreated for a long time, due to negligence of authorities and carelessness of public may lead to long term problems. Breeding of insects and mosquitoes can create nuisance around promoting unclean environment. This may even cause dreadful diseases.

Flexural Behaviour of GFRP Bars

Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) structures are usually reinforced with steel bars which are subjected to corrosion at critical temperatures and atmospheric conditions. Also the cost of steel reinforcement plays a significant role in any RCC construction. The rising prices of steel and their unavailability throughout the year have brought the contractors and engineers into a great trouble.

The RCC structures can also be reinforced with other materials such as fibers specifically Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer and Carbon Reinforced Fiber Polymer (GFRP). This deals with the study of RCC beams when reinforced with the Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) as a replacement of steel reinforcement and studying the behavior of beam under flexure.

An Experimental Analysis of Turning Operation in EN 31ALLOY

Turning is a form of machining process which is used to create a cylindrical part by cutting away unwanted materials. Today the most common type of automation is computer numerical control, better known as CNC. Components such as axles, shafts can be manufactured by turning process. In that manufacturing unit mainly focuses on high quality with increased production rate and profit level of the firm and so it's important to determine the optimal machining parameters such as speed, feed and depth of cut.

This works deals with the selecting the optimal parameters that plays a critical role in increasing the productivity with desired product quality at minimum cost and reduced lead time. The experiments were conducted with Taguchi's L 9 mixed orthogonal array. Coated insert was used to machine the EN 31 alloy steel work pieces on computer numerical controlled (CNC) lathe.

The optical parameters were found using Taguchi's approach individually for minimum surface roughness and maximum material removal rate (MRR) and were compared with the results obtained from Grey relation analysis.

Study of Pumping test on well for Pre-Manson and Post-Manson for NANNAJ BASIN

Pumping tests are normally carried out to determine the yield of the well and the drawdown. This information provides a basis for determining the water supply available from the well, for selecting the type of the pump and for estimating the cost of pumping. Hydrological studies at different depth horizons for the Nannajodha basin in Solapur, district, Maharashtra, India has been represented by various contourmaps at different electrode spacing.

We are correlated with the local Geology of the area to detect the various pre-monsoon and post-monsoon readings of the groundwater.

Effect on Concrete Properties after Substituting Fine Aggregate by Crushed Groundnut Shells and addition of Sugarcane Bagasse Ash

Infrastructure development is prime need of any country for development. The Infrastructure development has increased the demand of cement and fine aggregates. The cement production industry creates environmental problems such as pollution and global warming due to emission of various hazardous gases. And natural sand is expensive and not available easily so overcome these problems researches are more focusing towards utilizing agricultural and industrial waste material.

Sugarcane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) is left-over industrial byproduct from sugar factory's captive power plant which is used for partial replacement of cement and Groundnut Shells (GS) are agricultural waste product which is used for partial replacement of sand. In this paper SCBA has been chemically and physically categorized and partially replaced in the ratio of 2% & 5% by weight of cement and Crushed Groundnut Shells partially replaced in fixed ratio of 5% by weight of fine aggregates in M25 grade concrete mix.

There are total of 36 specimens of the Combination of SCBA and GS /OPC concrete cubes of 150 mm size were tested for compressive strength at 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after immersed curing. The results show that the compressive strengths of the standard mix and those of other percentage combinations increases with curing age but decreases with increased SCBA and GS percentage. It can be concluded that the satisfactory concrete with replacement of 5% of SCBA and 5% replacement of GS content.

Development of High Performance Concrete

Making of High Performance Concrete, which is chiefly used as a building material in the major and mega infrastructure and projects, is a very big task. Though the recent advancements have dominated the barriers of the preparation of high performance concrete, the use of green materials such as Meta-kaoline, Silica Fume, Fly Ash and Rice Husk Ash is limited.

Apart from the green materials, numerous conventional and mineral admixtures are available in the current market, which enhances the quality and performance of the concrete such as Metakaoline, Alccofine and Silica Fume etc. The quality of concrete mixture is evaluated through various mechanical properties like compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength and various durability tests like rapid chloride penetration test (RCPT), sorptivity test, chloride resistance test, accelerated corrosion test and sea water attack test are carried out to analys the performance of HPC. The prime objective of this research study is to evaluate the structural strength of high performance concrete by utilizing green and pozzolanic material as supplementary cementitious material.

This research study primarily focuses on the development of empirical correlations for estimating the 7 days and 28 days compressive strength with sufficient workability diverse range of water/cement ratio for concrete mixes. Detailed laboratory investigations are performed covering almost all available supplementary cementitious materials like Meta-kaoline, Silica Fume, Fly Ash and Rice Husk Ash nearby area of Madhya Pradesh state of India. This Research study helps in identifying the influence of Meta-kaoline, Silica Fume, Fly Ash and Rice Husk Ash on the strength characteristics of HPC. The use of alternative material of Portland Cement leads to reduction of emission of harmful gases and impact on production capacity of cement manufacturing plant.

This research work will enhance and accelerates the decision making process in the pre construction as well as post construction stages of any infrastructure projects. Further the above developed empirical model can be applied for all manufacturing of high performance concrete using supplementary cementitious material. These developed correlations can offer excellent engineering judgment and assist in decision making process for the structural evaluation of the HPC during pre-construction and post construction stages.
