Wastewater Treatment using Horizontal Subsurface Flow Constructed Wetland

Conventional wastewater treatment systems comprising of energy intensive and mechanized treatment components require heavy investment and entail high operating costs. Constructed wetlands are accepted as a reliable wastewater treatment technology and represent an appropriate solution for the treatment of many wastewater types. A constructed wetland is a shallow basin filled with some sort of substrate, usually soil or gravel, and planted with vegetation tolerant of saturated conditions

The role of constructed wetlands as environmental barrier and as a psychological separation is especially important for indirect potable reuse, when combined with other appropriate barriers. In addition to wastewater treatment, wetlands provide additional benefits, including environmental enhancement, habitat for plants and animals and passive recreational opportunities for the community. The studied constructed wetland reduced concentrations of contaminants present in the wastewater.

In this project, constructed wetland using horizontal subsurface flow is studied. Wastewater is treated in constructed wetland planted with aquatic plant Typhalatifolia. Initially wastewater is supplied to the wetland through inlet chamber. Treatment performance of a constructed wetland (CW) commissioned in a developing country was evaluated for removal efficiency of chemical oxygen demand (COD).

Significant factors for Detecting Redirection Spam

Redirection spam refers to a technique where a genuine search user is befooled and made to pass through a chain of redirections and ultimately presented with a compromised web page that may be an adware or an irrelevant content for the user. As a consequence the search engines earn a bad name in quality information retrieval and moreover the users are too dissatisfied. Also, there is sever wastage of expensive network resources like bandwidth. Detecting these malicious redirections is important for quality information retrieval from web.

But detecting such redirections is a very tedious task due to the genuine usage of redirections to provide load balancing and URL shortening features. Also, the conventional methods of spam detection such as blacklists, whitelists are not very successful as they need to be updated every time. Many factors have been discussed in previous work that facilitate redirection. To design a more robust and reliable approach, this paper presents some new factors that facilitate redirection spam detection. We also explored the operational profile of each identified factor along with the criteria for its selection.

Agent-Based Modeling: Methods and Techniques for Scheduling Industrial Machine Operation

Owing to its impact on the industrial economy, job shop scheduler and controller are vital algorithms for modern manufacturing processes. Hence a production scheduling and control that performs reactive (not deterministic) scheduling and can make decision on which job to process next based solely on its partial (not central) view of the plant becomes necessary. This requirement puts the problem in the class of agent based model (ABM). Hence this work adopts an alternative view on job-shop scheduling problem where each resource is equipped with adaptive agent that, independent of other agents makes job dispatching decision based on its local view of the plant.

A combination of Markov Chain instruments and agent oriented analysis is used in the analysis of the proposed agent based model (ABM) for the job shop scheduling problem. The Markov Chain approach allows a rigorous analysis of the ABM. It provides a general framework of aggregation in agent-based and related computational models by making use of Markov Chain aggregation and lumpability theory in order to link the micro and the macro level of observation. Simulated annealing technique is used for carrying out the optimization modeling for the ABM.

Route Optimization of Municipal Solid Waste Collection in Jabalpur City using ARC GIS

Uncontrolled growth of the urban population in developing countries in recent years has made solid waste management an important issue, so the system for collection of solid waste thus constitutes an important component of an effective solid waste management system.Waste collection become more complex in developed countries in terms of logistic, fuel , labor cost and air pollutants emission. In this study, solid waste collection routes optimization using Geographical Information System (GIS Arc View) was investigated.

The present route were optimized to reduce the length of the routes and consequently the time taken to complete the collection. The problem of waste collection in Jabalpur city has been considered where sources are dispersed by varied way. In this work, the waste transportation problem for time and cost effective waste management system design has been carried out.

The work proposed a route upgrading associated with the current routes taken by the solid waste collection trucks in the Rampur area (Jabalpur); and shows a better performance in terms of fuel consumption, emissions from the trucks and less operational costs, making it a solution to urban environmental management.

Improving Frequency Stabilization in Power System Network using Optimization Method

The new concept of Integrated Power Network Controls transcending Generation, transmission, Distribution and even Local Consumption, have been found to leverage on the reliability of the composite system unit controls if the robustness of the entire system to faults and interruptions would be optimized. This paper presents an improvement to frequency stabilization in power system network by developing an optimization network - the controller network or the optimization network controller using matlab code adjuster to get the desired stable frequency of 50Hz. The optimization network thus implements a widely acceptable and a global control scheme applicable to varied environments and situations.

Modeling a Multivariable Process Control System using PID Optimization

Many process control model have been observed to have unsatisfactory output variables, such as pressure, composition, temperature, at specified values, giving rise to overshoot and unbounded responses. A lot of methods have been adopted to curb this undesirable effect, starting from the use of different configurations of controllers. This paper presents the model of a multivariable process control using labview proportional, integral and derivation controllers (PID).

Modeling and control of multivariable process using optimization can be effectively achieved by optimization of proportional, integral, derivative volume of liquid L coupled with using appropriate transfer functions and accurate labview controllers for the modeling to achieve the controlling of the volume of cold and hot water to be in the proportion of 3:1.

Enhancing the Channel Capacity of a Cellular Mobile System using Frequency Diversity

Communication industries have been encountering a lot of problems in their communication links some of such difficulties or problems are Interference, fading, overhanging, attenuation and congestion. Transmitted signals with different frequencies are affected in different ways in frequency domain. The fact is an advantage in frequency diversity technique. Multiple replicas of information signal are sent over several affected frequency band in this diversity.

In a sufficient wide signal bandwidth, multipath components can resolve. This paper presents the technique that can enhance the channel capacity of a cellular mobile system. Error control coding and interleaving using frequency diversity was used to combat time selective or fast fading in communication link.

In the result, it is possible to obtain different independently fading signal. The number of resolvable multipath equation is used to approximate the maximum achievable diversity order for multipath diversity.
